The concept of the restaurant is family style for brunch. $70 a person for unlimited beverages and about 8-10 (I don’t remember exactly) tapas style dishes coming out every so often with about 6-7 shareable items (grits, home fries, salad). The portions are not satisfying. I get that it’s family style but they’re very very small. A lot of the options contain beef or pork which was disappointing. The potato salad was bland. The chicken in the chicken & waffles was not well seasoned and the poached eggs were extremely salty for some odd reason. The only saving Grace were the desserts. We ordered omelets and never received them so I can’t comment on those. For $200 (since they automatically charge 20% gratuity), you can get a better bottomless brunch in DC elsewhere. I won’t be returning unless someone else is paying for it.
No Itemized Receipt and a $373 bill for 3 people. No live Jazz Ensemble. No buffet. No prime rib. Definitely miss the Pre COVID Georgia Brown's. I won't be back anytime soon.
I come to this restaurant when President Obama was elected into office. When I recently returned, thefood and service is still outstanding. A must visit you will not be disappointed.
I was disappointed in the quality of the cornbread. The main course was very good. Our server was attentive and gave us great service.
Extremely loud. Waiter lost my card for 45 minutes. Manager never even offered to comp us even if it was something small

Service wasn't the best. Had to wait 40 minutes for waffles, shrimp and grits but the staff do a tremendous job!
Though the jazz is no longer there on Sunday's, it's still a great place for brunch.
Though it's not what it was back in the day, the food is good/decent and I would advice that you arrive earlier to avoid the lo get wait time for food and for minimal noise .
We had a wonderful experience @ Georgia Brown’s. The food was amazing and so was the service. We definitely plan to come back for our anniversary.

Food was not good very upset we spent $400 for party if five for mostly chicken dinners with side mostly liquor drink was not right first time had to send back and then soda was flat food was not cooked good the macaroni cheese was watery had egg shells in it and runny either was big cooked all way it rushed very upset will not be returning

This was my 3rd time here and I may or may not return. Great service! Friendly waitress. Nice ambiance. I’m from Georgia, a true Southern Belle and although some foods were a hit like the catfish appetizers others are a miss. I had the grilled lamb. The meat was good but the gravy was bland. They didn’t have A1 or barbecue sauces which are southern staples for any meat in my book. Brussels sprouts were pretty good, yams…definitely need more sugar. Southern cooking ain’t healthy! Lol I’d like to maybe go back for brunch another time. IMO, the best cuisine is served at that time.

A gem in the downtown area of Washington DC. Food, service, location were all top-notch. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good soul food in a lively atmosphere.
The seasoning on buttermilk fried chicken was underwhelming and the meat was a bit dry. Also the turkey greens lacked the flavor of a seasoned pot liquor. Overall, the food does not lend to the nostalgia of the southern comfort , lacking salt , sugar, and butter. If you choose to patronize, you will definitely enjoy the live music and well the crafted cocktails!
Our servers were outstanding and very attentive. She made great suggestions of food choices and answered all of our questions about the dishes. We loved the tapas style of servings. We tried several different plates without getting overly full. A fantastic brunch experience overall!👍🏾👍🏾

Really enjoyed our dining experiences here. Wife's birthday and her favorite meal is Shrimp & Grits. Her full plate entree was nicely presented and delicious. The staff from servers to management were attentive, caring, friendly and accommodating. Be aware that Sundays are "brunch only" and full plate entrees are not available. They have a unique brunch buffet style where they bring unlimited "small plate entrees" to your table. It works nicely. Selections are nicely presented and you can order an omelette of the menu. We only sat outside so can't comment on interior atmosphere. But it looks cozy from the little I saw. I highly recommend this venue.
Our waitress La Shea was wonderful. The music was too loud and it was too hot in the establishment. It was difficult to have a conversation with the person that you were dining with. The food was great. I was disappointed that you are not offering the to go mail that was originally a part of the brunch.
First of all, this was Sunday brunch and don't serve via buffet. They bring small tapa-like servings to the table with no serving utensils. They give you a small desert type plate to use. When they take away the plates they often take away utensils which you then have to ask to be replaced. The food could have been spiced better. Mostly it was very bland tasting. The waffles were good, but they did not bring butter with the waffles. I had to ask for it. Gumbo was good and my friends really liked the brioch french toast, which I thought was way too sweet. All of the food was luke warm. For $69 plus 20% gratuity and tax (high DC taxes) I would have expected much more. I would have rather ordered from a menu, but at brunch there is no menu ordering.
Good seafood ceviche, but came at the end of the night when the restaurant was closing. Which meant some of the staff were eager to get home to their loved ones. Our waiter initially forgot our drink order and brought the wrong salad dressing. But I am sure this is was an end of the night anomaly. Have been during the day in which the service was much better. But my ceviche was sooooo good. It tasted incredibly fresh and was the bomb.

Emily was the wonderful,good spirit waitress. Miss Najah R. was more than accommodating! Attentive.. no wait.. perfect table seating. She really makes you feel at home while enjoying a southern home meal!
I had initially reserved Fathers Day dinner for my husband at this restaurant but I’m SO Glad that my plans changed. This was definitely not a place for a Special Occasion type dinner. It was LOUD!!!!!! SUPER LOUD!!!!!! It’s a good night life place for sure. The air conditioning was broken so it was HOT! Which made the dinner uncomfortable. Our server Joe was ok. He had 2 large parties that he was overseeing so the service was the best that he could under those conditions I guess. I had the cat fish nuggets which were ok. My husband had the Infamous Fried Chicken……not at all according to the Hype from the reviews. My husband said that Popeyes was better🤦🏽♀️….the Mashed Potatoes were good. The collards were undercooked. We would definitely go back….we think it would be a great place to have a night with friends. We would just do appetizers and drinks for sure. The drinks were the best part!
Calamari rocked. Keep that recipe under lock and key. Oh, the mac and cheese too. Best on the planet.
This was an unfortunate choice to have made. We sat outside and were forgotten. Took 10 min for the hostess to even show up and an hour for food. The food was mostly good, but the service was terrible. Dirty glasses and cutlery. Napkins with stains. They need to do better especially for the prices they’re charging and gratuity alone was nearly $70! We ended up tipping a bus boy who felt bad for the service we received.

Very friendly venue, great food. May be the best crab cake I have ever eaten--very little filler. Also heartily recommend the fried green tomatoes--light batter, not greasy at all, nice presentation.
The food and service. wines, lemonade and prices were all excellent. I will not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to my friends.
I haven’t been here in years and I won’t be back. What happened to this place? What happened to the quality? Went for bunch, the food was all mediocre, cold and inedible. The French toast was a huge question mark. Our server was absent most of the time and didn’t pay attention to our dietary restrictions. They brought out shrimp with no grits saying they ran out. Who runs out of grits?? It also had pork in it which we both said we didn’t eat. Also it was hot as hell because the AC was off. They blamed it on the building saying they controlled the AC. We all know that’s a lie. Myself and my guest are both servers so when know when BS is being presented. We almost got up and left because all the food was bad, drinks (when available) were weak, and the service was so bad that the server would have never even notice that we were gone. Overall coming from a foodie and hospitality expert I would strongly recommend you stay away from this place. $99per person was not at all a value.

We had friends from from Philly visiting the area and we wanted a place where we could do Brunch and Georgia Brown's was the place to go. This was a celebration of family, which COVID-19 had previously prevented us from doing. We made reservations that Saturday for the Sunday Brunch, which was confirmed shortly after my submission to OpenTable. We arrived ahead of time and was seated on time. Our waitress was very friendly and courteous! The wait staff worked as a team to help ensure we received our menu orders in a timely manner, but they were over worked and understaffed for the crowd that day and service time was wanting and accident were happening. One of our friends ordered the "Peralu" which looked good and tasted good too, but when I order the same dish the presentation of it was a heap of something that had no visual appeal whatsoever, but it still tasted good! The Shrimp and Grits was watery and the shrimp had tales I had to peel, which I am not a fan of having to do! The Crab Benedict is a must have and the Roasted Salmon was on point. The chicken was alright and the Waffles were very good. The seasonal Ceviche was slamming until one of our friends came across a shard of glass that resulted in a moment of pause for our Family Reunion. We requested the manager on duty who came over immediately and was very apologetic to the point that he credited one of our Brunch meals, thank you. He also informed us that they inspected and dumped the rest of the Ceviche to ensure no one else was put at risk.
Folks, regardless of the not to pleasant moment we came together as Family broke bread and enjoyed each other's company, which was real and fulfilling and Georgia Brown's gave us that found memory, which we will cherish and be back to create a whole lot more. I believe things will get better because we work to do better and my review is to help them do better and always strive to be and achieve their very best!

This is a nice place to enjoy with family and friends. It usually is super busy so best to make reservations ahead. The service is remarkable and everyone works so well together. The new experience takes away a little from the quality of food. Our food was all room temperature. I am sure if, the food was hot I would have enjoyed it that much more.
Celebrating job promotion. I did indicate that when I made the reservation, however there was no mention of it by hostess or waiter.

The experience is nice overall but it is pricey for what you get at the end of the day. I have had many many meals that were better for less. I still think it’s a nice place but next time I would just have appetizers and 1 cocktail!
The besting soul food in DC.
I went here for my birthday after not having been for years. The service was phenomenal but the food left me very much unimpressed in comparison to the first time. I did go to the brunch service first which I don’t know if the dinner menu is significantly different but the quality of even the corn bread that was free with the table was not up to my expectation. The shrimp and grits I ordered without sausage because I don’t eat pork they actually turned out to be good but that was the highlight of my meal was my appetizer the entrée portion I was very much unimpressed with the stuffed shrimp are actually really just I would say large shrimp with crab meat on top the sides (Brussels sprouts & yams) that I got in addition were subpar as well when those are two of my favorite dishes to make at home I expected them to knock it out of the park and like I said I was left very disappointed. The menu was majority soul food but the food was lacking that soulful flavor. The price point also I feel like is out of this world in comparison to the value of what the experience is. I don’t have a problem paying high prices but I also expect extremely high-quality. The drink I thought would be a good cocktail to enjoy my birthday I sent it back because it did not hit the flavor notes that were even listed on the menu and didn’t taste good. Overall I drove an hour away from my home city to attend this restaurant thinking that would really be amazing and I am actually wishing that I would’ve stayed closer to home and had a better experience.
