Lovely spot and service. I think the staff was a bit overwhelmed. The mixed antipasto were delicious. I had the spaghetti with baby clams (vongole). There could have been more clams in my dish but they, the vongole, were the real deal. The tiramisu was a little off but tasty. The fried clams and smelt were succulent. Wines by the glass were good and reasonably priced.
Gola Osteria is a gold mine. Nestled in a commercial residence it has an interesting way to get in which is very appealing. The food is excellent the wait staff is outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who like things out of the ordinary. Can’t wait to go back.
The service was excellent, setting was relaxing and food exceeded expectations. The salad was so fresh with a combination of flavors that worked so well in the dressing. The risotto appetizer was really delicious. Pasta was so yummy and fresh. Highly recommend this place.
I had a great Dinner with my Friend, our waiter suggested us a few items on the menu. Great suggestions, drinks, apps, main course and desserts were great!!
Everything was delicious, service was great! finding the location was tricky and you need to go through an apartment hallway which can throw you off but once you get to the restaurant its a little hidden world inside that building and is definitely worth it! highly recommend for a special occasion
Fabulous restaurant tucked away in the old Ithaca hospital. A little hard to find but definitely worth the effort. Exceptional service.. The appetizer menu had some very delicious offerings. Grilled octopus and the tripe in Sunday sauce were amazing. Could definitely make a meal out of the awesome variety on the menu. Planning our next trip already.
I would have preferred more pasta , homemade , options on the menu. Also need more quality green options on menu.
Wonderful as udual
We had to cancel a trip to Italy because of the coronavirus and wanted an Italian experience here in Ithaca. The food and ambiance were terrific.
I had a wonderful meal that I have been daydreaming about ever since! The rigatoni with Kune Kune pork is spectacular. Spicy, savory, irresistible! The Snapdragon Apple Crostata was the best I've ever had. Heavenly and very decadent!
Highly recommend Gola Osteria! Sam, the chef, and the food he makes are both infused with love!
We loved our meal at Gola! This was our second visit and everything was delicious! We had the large antipasto platter, eggplant parm, manicotti, and the apple crostini dessert. Everything was great and our server Kyle was very attentive.
Everything was awesome, food, atmosphere and our server Greg did an excellent job of taking care of us. Excellent all around !!
One of the best restaurants in Ithaca in terms of food quality, creativity, and craftsmanship. Rarely too loud and the staff are always friendly. Some affordable dishes alongside the more expensive ones so don't let price put you off.
Gola is one of my top three restaurants in Ithaca and the surrounding area. Consistently delicious dishes, excellent service and a sophisticated, yet unpretentious ambience. It’s a constant go-to whenever I have out-of-town visitors and want to show off Ithaca’s culinary prowess.
Maybe we came on an off night? The food was fantastic, and the place is honestly great, albeit a little confusing to find. Our server seemed to be in a bad moon, a little short with us and could even be heard scolding the runner about not putting in our desert order to go in their order system. I know that was frustrating since the desert looked difficult to transfer. It looked like a desert soup after it was put to go, however, it still tasted incredible. It was a fun visit and we’ll likely be back, like I said, possibly just an off night for them.
As usual, all of the food, from appetizers to wine to dessert was delicious. We enjoy dining here because the food and service are wonderful in a setting that exudes classy, but there’s not a hint of stuffiness. It’s great to be able to experience fine dining in a friendly and relaxing environment.
The staff are friendly and always knowledgeable about food and wine choices. We have never had a mediocre meal at Gola-ALWAYS exceptional.
We always enjoy our trips to this restaurant. We wish we had the time to dine here more often! Cheers.
Nice Valentine’s Day!
We had a spectacular meal at Gold Osteria. I ordered the Bolognese Taglitalle and my husband ordered a pasta with the kuna kuna pork. Both our dishes were tomato meat based but they tasted completely different, mine was rich and spicy and my husbands had a lovely fennel flavor. The service was excellent. Kyle took great care of us, the food and drinks came out at just the perfect time. The ambiance was what I would call old world italian. If you want a good, comforting, satisfying meal I suggest Gola Osteria.
Great food and drinks and very attentive and friendly service. I will be back soon.
Gola is always amazing! I love the food, but I think they could do a bit better to be more allergy-friendly. They have gluten free pasta available, but it would be nice to see allergen information clearly labelled on the menu. :)
We heard lots of great things about the restaurant but were disappointed with our experience. Most dishes were over-salted and over-priced. We had to as multiple times for bread and butter. It is not bad overall but not worth the money. We did enjoy the interior decoration and the overall feel of the place, which is very retro.
Ithaca's best restaurant. A secret gem 💎🔥🔥🔥. This place is really great and has amazing food.
The food was AMAZING!!! The mozzarella salad with oven dried tomatoes and capers was beyond good!!
Excellent authentic Italian food
This is our forth time dining at Gola. Just as the previous three, the menu was extensive and the cuisine excellent. The service was impeccable! If you like Italian, it's well worth it.
The main dish came out 1 hour later after the order and our server gave us a condescending response that there were other people before us and restaurant is really busy. And our food was way too salty!! Never go back.
Everything was perfect! I would recommend to friends. Will be back soon.
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Gola on New Year's Eve. The food was excellent (our tenderloin was overcooked, but that's the only issue we had) and the service was outstanding!
Fantastic meal as always, Chef Sam prepares each and every meal with finesse and flair.
As usual, we left thinking Gola is the best restaurant in the area - if not ever. Seriously, it goes beyond in every regard. The fact that the owners/chefs started locally is just the icing on the cake.
Great place! Best place in Ithaca. I have told a lot of people about this place!
Very good food. The room temperature was little too warm, but once we spoke with staff they opened a side window. Pace of service was nice. Wait staff were pleasant. A bit on the pricey side.
Always delicious meals and hard to make a choice. Portions sizes are too huge, so most of the dishes including the antipasta can be shared between 2-3 people. Such a waste if you can't take it home for leftovers.
Gola Osteria is a hidden gem! I make the 45 minute drive up here regularly. Sam Epps has some real skills in the kitchen and he has put together a staff to make the experience both memorable and enjoyable.
The ambiance is nice and the seating is comfortable.
Between the antipasto and the wonderful apps, I usually get one of his half dozen home made pasta dishes and rarely make it to the main course. But if you can, that are delightful works of art. Do yourself a favor and go there. Mitch
Service was good. Kitchen was off.
Beat Italian cuisine I have had in years
Gola is by far the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. We are so lucky to have this gem in Ithaca.
No restaurant compares to Gola. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the staff is incredibly helpful and kind. My husband and I try to go whenever we are in Ithaca.
