Grappa - Rochester
Such a great place for drinks! The atmosphere was comfortable and the food was delicious.
This was our second visit (over two years) and the issues that were there last time remain. First, the food is very good and well prepared/presented. Our server was great and TRIED to make our visit more pleasant, however
We had made a reservation noting that we were celebrating a birthday. The table we were given was on the hallway to the bathroom and near the conference room in the restaurant. It was also in the bar area. It was a 6-top that was broken apart for the two of us. Note that there were plenty of other tables in a much more private set up available, and remained open our entire 2+ hour meal duration. A three person party was shortly thereafter seated in the other 4-top of our split 6-top.....with all the other open tables. The party in the bar that began after that spilled over to just a table or so away from us. Clearly the ambience for the occasion was lost. Important to note that although we not in suit and dress, we were well attired.
Our meal was clearly delayed for what we told was a party that was taking the attention of the kitchen. This could be somewhat understood IF the three top sharing our 6-top had not been fully served and completed their meal before we received our meal.
If you wish to order a carry out meal, the food is quite good. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the meal, go elsewhere.
The pork special was delicious with potatoes and Brussel sprouts, but there was a very odd cold quinoa salad with cranberry on the side. It just seemed like it didn’t belong and shouldn’t have been on the plate. Calamari was delicious but lukewarm.
We thought everything was great. They did forget to bring us our salads but we were having such a nice time we didn’t even remember them until the next day. Never really considered Grappa because it was in a hotel but it’s a great place and really nice space.
Great food, super trendy. I would go back for sure!
It was a good
Friendly service, very good food with large portions. Had breakfast there the next day as we were staying at the Hilton and the breakfast was 14 for buffet complete with made to order hot food.
Very good dinner. Pizza was crispy as requested and soup was excellent.
we were seated promptly for our reservation and please to have a regular table rather than the high top stated on the reservation. The food was delicious and well prepared; Porterhouse for two was cooked exactly as requested (medium rare); accompanying fingerling potatoes and mushrooms were tasty. The accompanying Bordelaise sauce was perfect with the dish. Portion was more than generous. ssert was a Meyer lemon tart; perfect after a heavy meal. House salad was fresh with a nice house dressing. warm bread and butter served with an olive oil/balsamic mix and spices was a nice addition. Although the table arranged on a bench are close together we didn't mind; it added to the ambience!
The food was delicious and the service was great, but the tables are so close together it's like you're dining with your neighbors on each side.
The gnocchi was the best I've ever had
The food was absolutely excellent. Our only complaint is that the tables are WAY too close together. We heard everyone's conversations and I'm sure they heard ours. It was very difficult to squeeze through to sit down.
Food was good, but it was way too loud. The open floor plan traps and echos all the noise and you can hear the kitchen staff yelling to each other constantly. Couldnt hear the server as she listed the specials and conversation was difficult.
There were issues with our drinks that could have been fixed if they had checked them before sending them out.
This was our second visit and it was equally if not a bit better than the first. Outstanding food and service by far. It is an absolute pleasure dining at Grappa!
It was a very good meal, and we both appreciated the fact that the waitress brought a gluten free bread as an opener which was very good! We were both satisfied with our meal, the food was good!
The menu selection is excellent along with the choices on the wine list. Grappa remains a Rochester favorite.
It was comfortable and not loud. Our waitress was great and attentive. They made sure all our allergies were taken into consideration. Food was good and they have great happy hour deals on drinks!
Excellent service and delicious food! We will be back!
The stuffed artichokes are my favorite thing on the menu!
We had dinner on New Year’s Eve. My daughter has celiac and the staff was very accommodating. Her meal was made without gluten and they were extremely careful in avoiding cross contamination. We will definitely go back soon. Highly recommend the salmon. It was delicious.
Service was lacking but the food was ok
Service was slow and erratic and it was not that busy. While they have a good wine list, there was no one present - to include management - who knew anything about the wines on the list. Specifically, there were two Sicilian reds on their list and when I asked the server, they didn't know which of the two were drier, so I asked if the bartender or manager knew - no one did, we selected something else. Lastly, I am a Grappa aficionado and they have the best Grappa selection in Rochester. I tried one that I hadn't tried before, and then sought to finish with a Gaja - I questioned whether I got the right one, the server insisted that I did, but when the bill came, it reflected what I suspected - a totally different one (but at least with the price for that one versus the Gaja). MORAL: there needs to be some adult supervision on a Saturday night!
We had a very pleasant Christmas Eve dinner - the food was delicious, and they were very accommodating to the dietary needs of my daughters (one is vegan and the other has Celiac disease). I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Overall everything was really good and I would recommend anyone to go. It was my first time there and I was just a little disappointed with the server that my friend and I had. I’m not sure if he was new or not but he Wasn’t very enthusiastic and he almost seemed bored and his attitude and demeanor was off. He didn’t seem very interested in what he was doing, however he was nice. The food was really good too! Little pricey for the portions but it was good quality
Great restaurant with a variety of choices at different price points.
Fantastic dinner with friends! Calamari was excellent. Had the spaghetti with spicy meatball which was amazing.
Delicious clams with white wine sauce over homemade linquini. One of the best renditions I have had.
Great food and welcoming atmosphere
Our server was wonderfully personable and attentive to our every need. Our food was delicious, however pricey for what it was. The noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation without having to shout.
Excellent Thanksgiving Day dinner. Food was a step above what we were expecting and the service, by Krista C, was excellent.
We asked for her recommendations for both wine and food and she was spot-on. From starter thru dessert, we enjoyed everything we had.
Prices were a little high, but not outrageous.
We will definitely return.
Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, service and atmosphere. I always visit Grappa when I come to Rochester and will come again.
Quiet evening out before the Holidays. Ordered the special for the night of rigatoni al forno and a mix of pizzas. All was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient.
We greatly enjoyed our dinner at Grappa! Everyone enjoyed their meals, our waiter was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant was very clean and put together. We would highly suggest this location to anyone looking for a great dinner!
We came with 2 other couples and had a very nice time. It was noisy. The food was very good but not hot. The overall experience was very good. We will definitely come again!
The waitress was very sweet and attentive but the food was just ok. We have dined there in the past and felt the food was much better previously.
This restaurant, located int he heart of Rochester's College Town, is also physically linked to a local hotel. Excellent parking available and an easy-to-access facility. Reservations are recommended as they honor these in a timely manner. There were 2 of us and we each ordered a cocktail while we looked over the medium sized menu. For appetizer, we selected the calamari, which was lightly fried and served with hot cherry peppers. Very tasty and sufficient for two. My wife ordered the linguini and clams, and I ordered the Rigaoni alla Utica. The linguini was cooked a bit too al dente as was the rigatoni. The Littleneck clams were nicely prepared with a soft butter and wine sauce, but overall the entree seemed too high in sodium. The rigatoni alla Utica was quite tasty and plentiful. The sauce was a vodka rose, which blended perfectly with the chicken and sausage pieces. My only complaint was that I found bits of chopped bone mixed in with the food and had to discard them as I was chewing. Not a pleasant experience. We mentioned our concerns to the server and he was ready and willing to replace some or all of our food, no questions asked. We declined because of time, and the food itself was quite tasty. After ordering our desserts, a peanut butter cheese cake and the special of the night, a pudding-thick slice of cake, both which were absolutely delicious, the server delivered our bill, minus the cost for desserts. This was Grappa's way to tell us they were sorry for any problems with our entrees, and wanted us to enjoy free desserts (and hopefully come back again). We appreciate the gesture and will definitely plan to return and try other menu choices.
The food was absolutely delicious! Overall a great experience and I'd definitely go back! Only bad thing was the fact that it was slightly loud and difficult to speak with the waiter
Excellent service, delicious food, great menu choices.
Server was friendly but service was very slow. It wasn’t b
