We love the lobster rolls. The service was perfect.
Service was excellent, the salads are delicious and splittable, old school clam chowder. The main course? I had baked Cod (looks and tasted like sea bass), very good with a beautiful crispy crust. My wife had blue crab cakes, almost too much sweet crab in them to hold together as a patty.
I guess if they weren't so patriotic the place would be packed with 30 somethings. Their loss is our gain.
Our server, Caroline, was amazing. She was knowledgeable and really fast. Very pleasant. I think the food was very good, and the only downside to the restaurant is that it is a big room with high ceilings, so the ambience is one of more a family restaurant than a nice quiet dinner out or date night out. The museum is very interesting. I think most people would find the experience pleasant and the food good.
loved this place. The food was good, the service was great and the museum is pretty cool too.
Was birthday celebration. Mashed Potato’s were
Cold and dry as heck. Brought out wrong steaks. Beet salad was wonderful. But dressing should be a choice. Didn’t care for the dressing it was dressed with. Didn’t have an option. Shepherds pies was luke warm at best. Probably will not return or refer. Noise level was way too echoey hard to have discussions.
Nice friendly & attentive service. Food came out quickly. One of tbe best clam chowders I've had. I had baked cod & husband had fish & chips. Both were delicious😋!! Might opt for beer or wine. Tried a cocktail but not too good sorry😞. Other than that a nice surprise in this casual spot. If you're into Early American history the attached museum is really great!!
Wonderful evening of delicious food
Just okay food, not great.
Not crowded. Few people. Good waitress and knowledgeable about the history and food. Food was way overpriced and not very good.
What a great find. We are new to the area but found this gem when out of state visitors were in town for a visit. The food was excellent and we were able to spend time in the museum afterward. It was a very fun afternoon, especially so if you’re an American history buff!
It was really noisy and we couldn't hear each other talking. Worse than any other time we have been there for lunch. Everything else was great!
Wonderful place to go for a delicious meal. The lobster rolls are amazing, service great, and the museum part is an added bonus!
very interesting building looking like a colonial time pub and it's also a museum. We just missed happy hour which must be a good one as the place was pretty packed for a week night and then it settled down by 7:00 but even non happy hour drinks were not outrages at $9.
I had a really good salmon burger and my husband enjoyed the fish & ships.
This find was a pleasant surprise.
We had a great time at the GDT&M. We were celebrating our anniversary and family.
The place was quiet at the time yet the service was not as great as usual until our server realized that there had been an error in the order. She was super attentive after that.
I had my birthday party here. The staff arranged our table right when we checked in and were willing to accommodate my friend's dietary requests. They allowed us to store the cake in their fridge until we were ready to have it. The servers came periodically to check up on us at appropriate intervals. The staff was professional and helpful. We all enjoyed our dishes - they were well made and had good portion sizes. The restaurant and facilities were clean, too, which always helps. The ambience upstairs is even more Bostonian, with flags and the fireplace.
Such fun! Daniel took great care of us. Food is amazing!!
Excellent service and food. Our group was very happy with the entire experience
Great staff and the food was great!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere, food and service are excellent. Try the brussel spouts, they’re the best I’ve ever had. I love that after dinner you can walk around with your drinks and visit the museum.
Great atmosphere and decor. Generous serving of food and reasonably priced. The Connecticut Lobster roll was very tasty.
The scallops make the deal
It was a quaint setting and the food was wonderful
When we showed up I informed the hostess that I had a reservation and she instantly asked me if I had booked it through open table and said that the app does not work sometimes. That was the first time I had heard that as I've used the app plenty of times to make reservations there before. Then I asked the lady for a table upstairs and she said it was not open, seems hit-or-miss whether the upstairs is open. Then I specifically asked for a table in the bar area and then she went to go check and see if there was room for our party and I was then surprised when she came back and said our table was ready in the dining area. She did not seem to care about my request of where we ate. We are pretty regulars there so this was not typical service that we have grown to come accustomed to. Although deeply disappointed in the hostess service our server was great.
Food was ok, not anything super exciting. My kids we’re not fond of the Mac n cheese at all. My Flatbread was very tasty. Overall I wasn’t all that thrilled about it after reading all the reviews about the place, I guess I was expecting more.
I am disappointed with the service tonight. I know I spoke to the manager, but as she was anticipating my terrible review, I worry that the review ended up in the trash. I am attaching the survey. I filled out. I am not just trying to rant, this was by far the worst. It saddens me because this one was a top restaurant for either happy hour or bringing family from out of town.
I will say the food was good. My only complaint is the service for tonight June 6, 2019.
Great staff! Very accommodating to our children and gave great suggestions!! Food was delicious and it was at a great price!!
The service was horrible we go there a lot we were very shocked. Plus the fact there were kids running around not a good start to date night
Excellent meal. Great variety with expansive menu of happy hour drinks and appetizers to share. We ordered wine, cocktails and dinner entrees. The lobster roll was delicious!
Delicious food. Wonderful service and ambiance.
Excellent service superb food great place to dine. A favorite place for us and we shall return many times.
This was the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Our waiter seemed as though he just stepped into the position that day. Needless to say after waiting 1.5 hrs for food we did not stay for our meals. Horrible, which is sad because the other food that was coming out looked good.
The food wasn’t hot ( even when I requested the cake to be warmed it was obviously just taken from the refrigerator before being served) and they ran out of multiple items we attempted to order. My water glass stayed empty and I had to get my own silverware after requesting a knife.
Service was terrible and food took forever. Food was cold and over cooked. Very expensive brunch menu. Couldn’t even get a glass of water refilled. Never again.
Mother’s Day brunch was disappointing. Kitchen staff was understaffed & overwhelmed, servers were doing their best. I knew it was a mistake when our server told us “food is coming out really slow, I’m so so sorry” egg shells in our food, just not worth $42 each.... great for lunch but won’t be back for special occasions. I gave three stars for the servers, def wasn’t easy for them.
I will NEVER go to this restaurant again! Very poor service and the food was tasteless and poorly
presented! They wasted so much of our time that we asked for the desserts to go for three people.
They packaged only two and they were the wrong selections. I was so upset that they ruined my Mothers Day that I called the manager, Crystal and complained.
Mother’s Day brunch- 2018 was a buffet and great this year they did a pricey fix menu - not so great. Super under staff and you heard about it from every waiter. Wait times for food was insane. Waiters forgot drinks, food, silverware —somehow food was good but it wasn’t worth the price. Place should not do holiday dining. Disaster. This is on management. Hire staff.
BEST lobster roll ever! Fun place, the museum and decor are interesting. Very near all the Carlsbad attractions.
Service and food were amazing! Definitely going back to this hidden gem.
Hello Green Dragon,
The evening was perfect for the most part. Service was amazing! Only issue, server forgot the birthday lady's shrimp cocktail, I'm taking 1 star for that even tho it's very small. We ended up ordering the shrimp cocktail to go because she wanted it so bad.
Food was amazing, Mac & Cheese was too big for me to finish. I would suggest smaller noodle portions while keeping the same amount of lobster and combined ingredients.
Favorite Dish: Lobster Rolls, Amazing!!!!
Side note: it's so hard to find such a great place like this that's reasonably priced. If i lived in the area I would come back here on a weekly basis by far.
