Very good food—Fresh and a terrific wait staff. Beautiful view of the bay!
The staff, the view, and especially the view were all excellent and exceeded my expectations. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the San Diego area. I know I will return on my next trip.
4 of us. 2 orders of grilled oysters...excellant! 1 salad of burrata & heirloom tomatoes...4 spoons of burrata 3 cherry tomatoes, greens NOT worth 17.00. 3 of our entr÷s, 2 galley platter, fish and chips ALL came out lukewarm, fries not warm. Not a choice again. Very disappointed. Never again
Harbor House is a great find. The wife wanted seafood on our recent visit to San Diego, so I did some research on available upscale restaurants and chose HH. She was very pleased. We had a window seat, so we were able to view the sunset, the harbor and all the locals in the park below. The service and food were excellent. (We had a slight mix up with our desert, and when brought to their attention, the manager apologized profusely and removed BOTH our deserts from the tab) I felt the $$$ was a bit high, but then again, I did say upscale. This is a definite return to establishment the next time we are in San Diego. Go have dinner, and enjoy ALL the Harbor House has to offer. By the way, we were there on a Saturday night, and although we had reservations, they never appeared to be super busy during our two hour stay.
We had a nice table with a view of the ocean. Good size piece of fresh Mahi-Mahi served on bed of fresh veggies. Friendly waitress. Restaurant got busy around 6 pm
Food was not great for the price. Restaurant was older but in a good location.
Food was averaged at best. I ordered a ribeye steak medium rare. It took a very long time to deliver the food despite it being a slow Sunday evening. When my steak finally arrived it was cooked very well done! They of course made me a new steak but that also took a very long time to remake. My family all ate their complete meals before I was able to receive my meal.
Drinks much better than the food. One meal (out of six) had to go back and another was significantly sub-par. Staff was great but they cannot save the day with the food.
Went with a group of 12, received excellent service the whole night. Food choices were enticing and no one had a bad dish. My vegetarian risotto was delicious.
Great atmosphere great food our server was the best I have ever had
Fun and yummy evening.
We visited Harbor House on a Monday and we sat on the patio. The sunset view while visiting with friends was wonderful. The food was fantastic and the service was quick and the team was very nice. If you can get a patio seat near the windows it's worth it.
Okay food nothing special. Wings were pretty but didn't taste like much. Too much barbque sauce. Mixed grilled was tasty but poor prep lead to unevenly cooked fish. Stuffed shirmp tasted like an after thought.
Horrible service !
Many moons ago I used to go to Harbor House regularly. I hadn't been there in years, and this time I was disappointed in the food. My girlfriend's fish was dry to point that she wasn't able to eat it. My shrimp Scampi was fine. The cup of clam chowder we shared was a salt bomb. I love clam chowder but this was so salty I could only manage a couple of spoons worth.
The crab cakes were good and probably the best part of the meal.
Thank you so much for accommodating with our party of 10 and also for fulfilling our seating request! We truly had a great time and appreciate the staff for being so attentive and friendly! Def. coming back! Thank you so much again!
Had a great time with the wife and kids. Great food and service
I would recommend Harbor House for lunch or a casual dinner but not for fine dining. I expected better quality for the food and the service.
First time in several years since we have been there. We attended the Summer Pops and had dinner before. We ordered the Red Snapper and the Halibut. The meal was outstanding. Would highly recommend for the Fish. Wine list was a bit pricey.
Service was very slow and the waist staff was limited. Although friendly and inviting, our waitress came to the table very infrequently. The food was excellent and the restaurant was clean. Overall, if you aren't in a rush and have time to burn, excellent restaurant.
Great food, great service, great views
Excellent selection of food choices for all dietary requirements. Loved the Rockerfeller oysters and it was an fantastic location for my group board dinner.
we choose to visit frequently with our extended family and stay on the patio by ourselves; others find it hot but we love it, are always treated well and love our privacy!!!
Visiting from out of town we wanted to pick a place that had a great locale & food. The location, the patio, the scenery is great. The service was fantastic. The food was very average and the cost for average food was high. Probably will not go here again. Margaritas were great though!
A little disappointed in the service. We had to wait quite a while for a server to even acknowledge us. She wasn't too friendly or attentive but when we were almost finished with our meal, she began to warm up and became more attentive. By that time it was a little too late. Overall the atmosphere and ambiance is great.
When we first arrived there was a little bit of confusion however when the general manager stepped in everything changed. We were immediately seated at a table near the window which I had requested and Mike who was our server was wonderful
Food was over salted and not very good. One person in our party ordered the steak and it was cooked well when we ordered it medium rare, which we expected to be warm and red in the middle. It took them two more steaks to finally cook it to temp but our whole party had eaten by that time. Pretty disappointing and would not recommend this tourist trap. Sorry, but there is better quality food in SD to be had.
We were attending a conference at the convention center and made a reservation for lunch at the Harbor House. Had a great meal with a great view. Might be a little pricey, but based on where we were and the wonderful view, we’ll worth it. We will definitely be back!
View of the harbor was so awesome. Food was priced high and wasn’t that impressive for the price. Best thing we had was onion rings and homemade bread. Lobster tail for $51 definitely wasn’t worth it. Service was great. You are definitely just paying for location.
Service was poor and food was not that good. It was very average.
Sub par food.
Despite booking and arrived English style “O’clock”. We wee served 50 min late.
The place is naturally overcrowded so how aren’t they prepared for this?
The food is far from what is advertised. Expect cafeteria-like food.
Not quite for sure.
It’s up to you. If you have time and don’t mind waiting for substandard food and pay high prices then they will be the best choice.
5 of us went for a Birthday dinner. We had a reservation at 7pm and were seated right away. We ordered a cocktail and appetizers at 7:10pm. By 8PM we had not had a visit by our waiter and no appetizers insight. We were starving!!!! Finally we located our waiter and he went to check on apps. We did not receive them until 8:20pm. The manager did come over to and gave us a discount. It took forever to get our dinner and I have to say it was horrible. My daughter and I have Shrimp Scampi that consisted of boxed noodles, shrimp and lemon juice. No garlic or butter flavor at all. We could not eat it. My son got the Fish combo. The catch of the day was full of bones that it was difficult to eat and the salmon looked store bought. I'm not a complainer but for a bill that came out to $350 with the discount from the manager I expect higher quality of food. I could have gone to Apple Bee's for better quality and $250 cheaper. We got out of the restaurant after 10pm which ruined the rest of the night and THEY DID NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE MY SON'S BIRTHDAY.....SAD! BEWARE THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP!!!!!
On two different days, eight of us gathered for lunch at the Harbor House during a conference in downtown. Our server had no problem issuing 8 separate checks, unlike some other restaurants in the downtown area.
The menu selection is quite varied so everyone in the group was able to find something o meat their specific dietary needs. The servings are well-portioned and delicious. I had the galley platter on both occasions. The portions of shrimp, calamari, and fish were generous, but not so much that I had to contend with leftovers to take back to the hotel or let go to waste. Others in our group ordered the summer shrimp salad (beautiful and apparently delicious), the clam chowder (finished bowls all around), and other dishes, all if which were tasty as indicated by the empty dishes. Complementary sourdough was served, as well.
The ambiance was great both indoors and at the outside patio area where a plexiglass screen kept a curious seagull from pestering us while eating. The place was busy, but not packed. I wonder if it's because from the outside one might expect this to be a pricey place when it really isn't. Also, we were on a limited time frame, but were able to get our food relatively quickly so we weren't late returning from lunch.
We had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed our time!
Food average. Service poor.
Great Paella and good, knowledgable server. Atmosphere very nice.
The view and ambiance were great, but the food were lack of quality for the price, we paid $40 for Filet Mignon, it was burn and dried. And the scallops were overcooked. The food was just over priced, not worth what we paid.
Had the very berry splash cocktail with fresh strawberries and it was yummy. For my main course I had the Asiago crusted Chilean Seabass it was cooked perfectly and delicious, loved the vegetables that went with it but not the potato gnocchi. The gnocchi was super dense and I didn’t care for it but overall everything else was great. We sat on the outside patio and had a nice view of the San Diego Harbor.
I was looking forward to the paella, at first. When it came, the paella was good, but the pork chops were amazing!
