Hearthside Dining - Elmhirst's Resort
We had the Elmhirst Burger and it was absolutely delicious! It was so delicious my wife reordered it the next night
Fish & chips were good. The chicken breast entree was good however the breast was rather small for the price charged.
Beautiful view! Great food! Paige was very attentive. Enjoyable experience.
The overall experience was good. Our server, Sarah was excellent - attentive, efficient and very pleasant. The food was hot and tasty. However, the menu choices were more for pub fare (Wild Blue Yonder) than a fine dining restaurant. We were hoping for more choice than was presented.
Dinner was excellent! Our server Sara is the best!
Steak and fries for $29, with the steak being a very tough round. Pan seared trout was good though.
Very clean and very comfortable.
Staff were amazing and very very kind and friendly.
Menu was the same each day which was disappointing.
Food was great! Awesome fries. Only the steak frites were a bit chewy😞
Family of 4 dining during our visit in August, 2020. Good food and service. Thanks!
Loved this place! Amazing atmosphere, friendly and accommodating staff! Food was fantastic, would have gave 5 starts except steak was cooked well done, asked for medium rare but we LOVED the season veggies and the desserts were amazing.
Menu was reduced but assuming that’s due to COVID. Sanitizer everywhere which was fantastic.
Our experience was nothing but positive. We had great service, a great view of Rice Lake, and definitely plan to be back.
Elmhirst is a hidden gem overlooking the shimmering waters of Rice Lake. I’d add several stars if Covid wasn’t affecting the restaurant I’m sure there’d be many more stars! Can’t wait to get back to enjoy the setting, the fine food and excellent service.
Delicious food, great restaurant. Loved the server (believe Alexander)
Amazing food good service beautiful location and not crazy expensive for hugh end food! Would definitely recommend any meal there
I had big expectations for the brunch and it did not disappoint!
Homemade smoked salmon is great. Very nice view and friendly service.
Attended Elmhirst's Sunday afternoon buffet. With the exception of the roast beef, which was a bit chewy, the food was high quality, with lots of variety. Staff were efficient and pleasant. Would have assigned 5 stars however we were seated by the busy kitchen door and an out-of-tune piano which was played throughout our meal. The pianist was very talented and competent but the sour-sounding house piano detracted from the experience. That said, an enjoyable outing. We'll be back!
Our family went to Elmhirst resort for Family Day weekend Sunday Brunch. The food and selection was fabulous. We were entertained by a pianist who played beautifully. The waiters and waitresses gave excellent service. After brunch we took a tour to the barn to see their famous horses. There was crafts for the children downstairs and even a trivia event happening . It was a great day for everyone !
We went for a birthday brunch recently. Really enjoyed it all. Excellent home produced brisket and seafood items plus sumptuous sweet table which was thoroughly sampled. The celebrant was brought a birthday sweet. My only very minor complaint is that the cutlery could have been replaced more frequently as used items were taken away when plates were cleared. I thought the value was excellent and the birthday girl really enjoyed it.
The service was excellent. The sea food was super. We loved the music.
View from the table was excellent and they had a musician playing piano whole time. Food was delicious, too. Love their shrimp and cakes.
On water, beautiful scenery, personable service, tasty food, varied choices.
A great way to spend New Year!
Entertaining dinner and tasting.
Very special setting overlooking the lake with panorama view. Food was exquisite, tastefully displayed for brunch. An excellent choice for an intimate meal with friends.
Food was excellent and service was good.
Birthday food was great service from Andrew our waiter couldn’t be better
Very nice evening will be back for sure
Fantastic brunch, very nice updated, clean 4 bedroom cottage.
Not a good lake for swimming.
Float plane ride was fun.
The quality of the Brunch fell short of my expectations. It was 1pm and the hot food was warm.
Dessert while there was selection the variety and quality was lacking.
Great Ambiance, food was fresh and hot for our Sunday Brunch. Will definitely return again
Would not recommend Monday buffet. Very little selection for warm food. Most food in steam table cool-wsrm. Desert and salad selections okay. Servers did not offer alcoholic beverages nor was there any wine options. Overall not impressed.
We were a party of 8 friends who drove from Toronto for Sunday brunch and loved it.
Took parents/in-laws for owed Mother’s/Father’s Day experience. Flew in from Stoney Creek for brunch. Haven’t been for a couple of years. Much improved food and service.
Fabulous brunch. Amazing food and service. Stunning views. This is our 6th visit for brunch and always enjoy the afternoon. The only negative is the care and cleanliness of the washrooms. The need attention on ever occasion.
Celebrated my parents 40th anniversary there. Amazing food and the view was spectacular. Thank you so much
Food available was very good, I just expected a little more choice. Only meat was roast beef.
Atmosphere was nice.
In the thirty plus years that we have been going to Elmhirst the service and food has steadily declined!
We usually come by boat and / or waverunner and the docks are a shambles! Finally someone repaired some of the pergolas !!!
Maintenance is substandard clearly !
Peter Elmhirst must be ashamed .
We are going to try the Sunday brunch .....if that has deteriorated also then we are off to somewhere else!!!!!
The waitress did s fair job, but all by herself?
It was our anniversary (45 th)
The servers were very friendly and accommodating. Some of the staff in charge of the food stations were unfriendly and seemed like he didn’t want to be there. For the price, the amount of choices were a bit disappointing.
We had a very poor experience on Monday. Your online bookings over booked and we were the unfortunate group that had to eat in the pub area. Heidi came to our table and said that we would have a server to ourselves and all we had to do was get our plates of food from the other room. Well we sat there for half an hour with no server. Went for our meal. Came back and asked at the front desk for drinks. Server showed up and i asked for more water. He put jug of water on table and didn't even fill our empty glasses for us. No coffee or tea was ever offered and we had to ask the front desk for our bills. The food was delicious. No complaints there. The sevice was terrible. Non existent actually. We are asking for compensation for our bad experience.
The relaxing view overlooking rice lake is why I go to this restaurant. The buffet has plenty to offer but the actual food is disappointing. The view outways the mediocre food.
What a great way to celebrate our 43rd Anniversary. May have make this an anniversary event.
As always the buffet was delicious. Hot foods were hot, mashed potatoes and gravy always a hit with my husband. Salads plentiful and varied
Desserts mmmmm. Chocolate mousse and pecan pie are my favourites. The crumble and bread pudding a favorite with most others at our table.
Disappointed that more did not take advantage of the lovely weather and the setting
