Everything was wonderful except there was a very loud group across from us that were swearing a great deal and extremely loud. Otherwise it was wonderful. I have been coming to Hot House for over 20 years. This week I brought my cousins who were visiting from Ireland and they were greatly impressed. They enjoyed the Buffett and had a great meal.
Hothouse was severely overpriced for the food and drinks it offered. We did not get to see the wine menu. Service was super lousy. Appetizers were good and sort of saved teh night from being a complete disaster.
Work lunch with team
O.K. place. Reasonably priced, decent food. Nothing spectacular but nothing to to complain. The only thing is that their payment machine does not have an option of 18% tips. Only 15% and 20%. I, generally, think that system of tips in North America is ridiculous - businesses should simply pay fair wages to their employees; and 20% on top of everything including taxes and already inflated alcohol prices is ridiculous. On the other hand, giving 15% might look like I did not like service, so 18% seems like a good compromise.
Great service would like to see more bread option and maybe pancakes
Great venue and ambiance with lots of seating. The staff is excellent - friendly, professional and attentive.
The food is very good at the Sunday brunch buffet - I like the changed layout of having physically separate food stations vs the 1 long buffet counter (since I was last there) - it helps reduce line-up bottlenecks. The only improvement I suggest is to increase the variety of main entrees.
It's a great atmosphere with the live jazz band. At times, the music can become too loud making it hard to have conversation - if there's a way to throttle or disperse the sound level better that would be ideal. Currently, because there's lots of seating, those who need more quiet can just choose to sit farther away from the live band.
We had some first-timers with us and they enjoyed Hothouse.
First time for all of us and we all loved the brunch. My only complaint would be charging for a coffee refill. Never seen they in such a long time.
Second time being here. Looking forward to come again.
We met on the patio for brunch. The Hothouse has a special menu for this time and we opted (for the third weekend in a row) the Eggs Amelia, with home tries. The poached eggs are on top of a toasted English muffin and smoked salmon, covered with hallondaise sauce.
Our waitress was a college gal who was a delight to have.
This is also an ideal location with the St. Lawrence Market close by.
Love HotHouse--one of my favorite places in Toronto. Good value, good food and very good service.
My friends and I ordered two different dishes of pasta (Sicilian Gnnochi and Puttanesca) Both pasta dishes were delicious! The only issue I have was that both Puttanesca dishes were not hot, just lukewarm. Otherwise, I would have given a five start rating.
Excellent! Lots of choices and everything was delicious!!!
I take guests to Hot House numerous times a year. The food is always splendid, ample and the desserts are delicious. My friend's husband, a lawyer, decided to join us because his wife is always raving about Hot House. He also found the menu, food and dessert superb.
Hello Bonnie, Thank you very much for such a great review and your patronage. We really work hard to offer the best food and service to our guests. Hope to see you again soon. Susan Watts
The food is good! Price is reasonable
HOTHOUSE is our go-to place for lunch because we work in the area. It never disappoints. A varied menu, good prices, great food!
Thank you for your great review. I appreciate your kind words. Hope to see soon at the Hot House. Susan
The waitress we had was horrible we had to continually call him didn’t get my desert awful service I been there before and was fabulous!
I would definitely would recommend Hot House and I have recommended Hot House to my friends. It is a great place to get together with friends or family. The service, food and ambience is great. I have been here numerous times and I have never been disappointed by the service of the staff or the great food. Lovely place to eat and relax with friends and family!
Hello Nancy, Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your wonderful review. We hope to see you at the Hot House! Susan
Took 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Portion size to price of food was ridiculous. Had the chicken curry meal and only had 4 small pieces of chicken in it. That goes for 2 orders as my sister had the exact same item meal. The vegetables that were in the meal were completely soggy that made the meal pasty. The service could have been faster as we came in 30 minutes early, so 430 pm and the restaurant was not busy at all.
The salad was a bit small portion for the cost. the salad dressing was too much for the amount of leafs in the plate.
Gorgeous food which we throughly enjoyed....but should think of your younger patrons as some of them especially these days do eat more than pizza, burger, chips....etc.
I had the wild boar pasta. Very very good.
Wonderful early dinner on their sheltered patio. Great service and delicious food (chicken curry and sambuca pasta) for a reasonable price.
Excellent red sangria too! We will be back next visit to Toronto.
Food really not very good. Overpriced and low quality. Pizza was burnt and pasta was obviously frozen and smothered with flavourless sauce
As always great service and delicious food.
food has always been amazing at the restaurant. Caesar salad is the best.
Good location, good food, a bit pricey especially the wine. Lovey service.
Excellent food, soup was so filling I couldn’t finish my main course! Lamb was delicious, coffee was fabulous
We had a great time.
Mimosa deal was awesome!!
Based on the fact that french fries were not cooked or served properly (they were overly salted and stone cold the first time and the second time, they were dry and overcooked), the Penne all Sambuca had NO flavour whatsoever and the hamburger was sub-par. I would not recommend dining here. I asked for a 6 oz glass of wine and was charged for the 12oz. How do mess up french fries twice???
We were there for almost 2 hours for breakfast because the service was so slow. It wasn’t even that busy so I don’t know why it took so long to get drinks and food. Would not go back
Good, reliable food
Stayed there for almost 3 hrs... did not feel we were being rushed out
Professional wait staff
Food was exquisite and service was exceptional!
We han a great experience today dinning in there tonight. The service was professional, the food very tasty and they even exchanged one of our plates as it was a bit spicy for my grandmother.
It took 42 minutes to get a greek salad with chicken and a chicken sandwich.
The greek salad had more non edible greens than edible but could not send it back due to the wait and the fact that the Waitress didn't come by until it was time to get the bill.
was offered a free coffee or desert but given the amount of time it took for the food, there was no way to take advantage of the offer.
Went for my twins 12th birthday; it was okay no acknowledgement of birthday even though in the notes and they ran out of shrimp at the buffet to make your own pasta and also ran out of bread. But food overall good
We meet a the hot house because it is close to Union station and I pick up someone who does know well and we meet a friend and we all have a good time. We learned that summerious is better but at least the Wine was half price.
Tasty food, great location in St, Lawrence Market neighbourhood.
I love this restaurant, it has the best ambience. You can meet with friends and family and actually hear your conversation. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The food is always great.
This is what all restaurants should be like.
Great spot for Saturday brunch! Really enjoyed ourselves before heading to the Market!
Great food, service and location
