Isabella's - Frederick
We went for our 1 Year Anniversary weekend. Wanted to try something different...a new restaurant away from home. Found this restaurant using the OpenTable app. We loved the numerous available selections of tapas. We ordered a few and really enjoyed them! Will definitely return!
Food is excellent but pricey. Has quite a variety of interesting dishes you wouldn't find elsewhere.
We have been to Isabellas about 25 plus times over the years. It is one if our favorite downtown Frederick restaurants. The food and service is always amazing.
Overall we really liked it. Food was very good, portions large. Especially liked the fried asparagus and Brussel Sprouts appetizers. Steak and chicken paella also very good. Service very slow at first - maybe due to restaurant being very crowded on Saturday night of Restaurant Week. It got a little better through the meal. Overall experience - very good. We will go back when we are back in Frederick.
Good vibe, flavorful food, good service, reasonable prices.
We went during restaurant week and were not disappointed. We will definitely be back!
It never disappoints. But yesterday everything seemed to be especially delicious. We did try some new menu items. The price…it was Restaurant Week…need I say more?
Excellent meal, service and value. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Flavorful, healthy and generous sized entrees for restaurant week, included unforgettable Grilled Bronzini Fillets, and a mainstay Jumbo Scallops with Crab meat wrapped in Bacon.
My husband and I were visiting Frederick and we went to Isabella's for tapas on a Sunday night. We didn't expect it to be very busy at 6:30, but there were a lot of customers! Couples, families, singles - you can tell that this is a favorite of locals. It's all small plates (no big entrees) and we ordered mostly (but not entirely) from the specials menu. We shared a carafe of white pear and cranberry sangria; piquillo peppers stuffed with crab and cheese with saffron foam; roasted Gulf shrimp with saffron cream, fresh peas, and black rice; eggplant stuffed with beef and tomato; chicken skewers with spicy apricot honey and roasted potatoes; spinach sautéed with golden raisins and pine nuts; and a chilled chocolate pot de creme topped with warm Spanish hot chocolate and a fresh raspberry. Everything was swoon worthy, we were stuffed, and our bill was only $75. Service was excellent too, attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. Our waters stayed filled and the bread and oil kept coming. We will be back!
Excellent wait staff, excellent brunch, super excellent value!
My boyfriend and I have long come to Isabella’s. The food is always exceptional, and the staff friendly and capable. It’s become a traditional treat for us to enjoy the delicious and incredibly priced brunch offered on weekends. We hadn’t been able to stop in for awhile, but we made sure to mark six months together nowhere else than Isabella’s. Of course, our experience was fantastic as always and we had a delightful time.
Always outstanding. My wife and I love the food, the service, and the ambiance at Isabella's. This is where we bring out of town friends as the first dining establishment in Frederick. I always have the gazpacho and spinach and then try 1 or 2 new dishes. Have never been disappointed in any choice.
Amazing place. Terrible server and service
Good food, but nothing special about food or service
Great food, accommodating staff, lively atmosphere. Try the blood orange margarita!
Birthday - was great
We knew going in that this was a tapas restaurant. However, we weren’t prepared for the small size of each dish. My sizzling shrimp dish had 4 small/medium shrimp and some greasy onions. Too expensive for four minuscule shrimp. The grilled octopus was expensive and arrived COLD with ice cold hummus and cold tomatoes. We had the asparagus which was good for only 4 pieces. No bread to help fill us up. My wine arrived and for a $9 glass the pour was too small. The wine glass was huge and the pour was 1/10 of the glass. We had a $79 bill and left hungry. The place was busy but, the noise level made conversation hard. We won’t be back. The food was okay I just prefer leaving a restaurant feeling like I’ve gotten a good value and a full stomach. We went to Chick-Fil-A afterwards.
Nice beer selection with the brewery right next door. The seasonal sangria was delish. Nice selection of tapas. A bit pricey. Our serve started out great but that quickly changed. His attention to us diminished and we had to chase him down and remind him of our order. Despite the server, I would still recommend the establishment.
This is our favorite restaurant. We ordered some favorite tapas off the regular menu and a few from their special menu. For those missing the amazing brussel sprouts at Ayse Meze, they have made an appearance at Isabella's.
Plain and simple, the food at Isabella's is some of the very best I've experienced in Frederick! Will keep coming back.
Came for Sunday brunch with a party of 6. Everyone’s order was correct and all of the food was fine. Service, however, was sub-par. We had a reservation for 6, and were brought to a table with only 5 chairs. The waiter spilled water on the table and after asking twice we just got napkins ourselves from the bar. We had to ask multiple times for straws. One of our meals came out more than 5 minutes after the others, with no acknowledgement one entree was missing. And it took almost 20 minutes to pay. Be sure to bring your patience if you choose to dine here.
Delicious dinner at Isabella’s! The short rib sliders were our fav!!
I highly recommend Isabella's. Great ambience, food and service everytime I go.
Food was great. Service was very good. We were seated in a booth in the bar area so it was a little loud and the booth was a hard wood seat. Overall a great time with very good food and drink.
Awesome, awesome , awesome. Amazingly executed tapas restaurant. Everything was on point from the drinks to the orzo, and everything in between. Highly recommended.
It is a great place to try many small plates. It is a great place for a date or group dining. All will find something to enjoy. Drink menu is good. Vegetarians will find items. Go enjoy
The concept and execution of tapas at Isabella's is executed perfectly. The food is absolutely amazing and it comes out incredibly quickly. Our server was bar none - even on Valentines Day, she was very attentive, upbeat, and was not phased in the slightest by how busy it was. My only complaint is some of the main dishes were on the pricer side for their portion size. The chicken paella was overpriced at $40 and some of the specials were priced at least $10-$20 too high as well. I would still highly recommend this restaurant - especially their tapas menu. This was my 4th time at Isabella's and I will absolutely be returning!
My wife and I had an early reservation on Valentine's Day (and a Friday night). We were seated promptly, server took time to explain the predominantly tapas menu and the few entrees also on menu.
We shared 6 different tapas plates and everything was really delicious. We then had desserts, which were both also delicious.
We definitely recommend Isabella's and will be back.
Great service.. quality..the "chips" with the tapas were a bit soggy on the bottom layer
One of our favorite restaurants! The food was delicious and so full of flavor. The service was delightful, too. Can't wait to go back!
Great food! A taste of Spain in Frederick MD!
The best Lobster Risotto you will ever have!!
great food needed to wait long time for table. owner treated us to coffee and desert.
Too expensive for the mediocre quality of the food, the size of the plates was the only thing Spanish about the tapas (dined with a Barcelona native), too much breading in the tapas but service was good.
exceptionally interesting dishes, totally out of this world cuisine even though it's not stuffy or formal. Just great service, and really great food.
The only negative was the high level of noise, which made it difficult to carry on a conversation.
Food is delicious and service is fantastic! One of my favorite restaurants in Frederick.
Food is amazing! Great service too. We were there for 1st Saturday - Fire in Ice and I'm definitely glad we made a reservation. It was packed, but the food was still coming out in a reasonable amount of time and delicious as ever!
