I was so impressed on my first visit to Isa's Bistro. I've lived in Asheville for 10 years, and I'm shocked that I've been sleeping on this gem of a restaurant. The food was wonderful, and the menu was great for the picky palette I was dining with. The service was excellent, and I loved the atmosphere. Will definitely be dining here again.
Went for Saturday brunch. We really appreciated the space between tables. Coffee was EXCELLENT. We are going to go buy some. Food was a bit hit or miss, but when it hit it was great. Coffee bread was tasty but served cold. Appalachian bagel was a disappointment . Toasted but cold and sloppy with very lite toppings. But the Croissant Madame was excellent and full of ham. Truffle Mac & Cheese was also very tasty. All in all, we will try again for dinner perhaps.
Fabulous food and service. A lovely place
Maybe breakfast isn’t their forte!? Had a good start with a Bloody Mary that was done right with pickeled veggies that were crisp and delicious. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with sourdough bread, two fried eggs, bacon and gruyere cheese. The bread was pretty good but dry. The bacon was fatty, not crisp and actually tasted a little “off” or old. The slice of gruyere was small for the amount of bread and could hardly taste it. The side of breakfast potatoes were crispy and flavorful, but not very warm. $15 for a less than desirable breakfast sandwich was not a good choice!
Outside decor and architecture beautiful. Inside left much to be desired. Ambience and environment lack luster as was the food. Parisian painting inside was pretty. I ordered the pancakes, eggs, and bacon. No unique twist or authenticity. Diner style, ingredients sub par. Also, ordered the flight of mimosas, tasty but could have had rim decor or fresh herbs ex: lavender sprig for the lavender mimosa. Overall, not impressed. I expect their evening food might have more flair, would consider returning to taste dinner menu.
We had a great time! Food was delicious, live music was romantic, and our waiter was so nice and helpful. Location is ideal. Definitely will go back for future date nights.
Filet and scallops were fabulous but prime rib was too tough to eat and chicken cordon bleu was poor quality
Really fantastic food , service & cocktails.
3 words....Lemon Lavender Mimosa!!!
Great food and great service. Mussels were outstanding.
Excellent food and very attentive service. Great downtown location.
This was our first time at the restaurant and it did not disappoint. We had duck frites and the summer salad as appetizers. The duck frites were some of the very best fries we’ve ever eaten. We had the chicken citron and the lamb chops for the second course. Both were cooked well, plated beautifully, and were delicious! We will be back.
We took our daughter while visiting her at UNCA. We loved the food and the atmosphere. We could have eaten just the appetizers and would have been happy. The entrées were good as well. This is definitely a restaurant we will visit again when we visit Asheville.
While my food was delicious (scallops), some of my dinner guests were not impressed with their dinners (chicken cordon bleu). 3 of 6 liked their food. 2 said it was OK and 1 said yuck. The food wasn't awful, but it wasnt a tasty treat either. I will give this another try as they are new in the time of covid.
It was pleasant.
We are a mature couple who booked an outside table at Isa's. We were seated at the appropriate time, the wait staff was attentive and helped with some dietary issues by consulting the chef as to preparation. We definitely would eat there again the next time we are in Asheville.
Wonderful food and great service.
It was great, we had the restaurant to ourselves. Food was amazing, the ratatouille was our favorite. Shared a salad and was split by the kitchen, much appreciated.
Lovely restaurant, good food and good service. Outside tables and inside seating.
Isa's was a delightful find in the downtown Asheville area. It was just a 5 minute walk from our hotel. The patrons were thoughtfully distanced. The food was delicious and had a lovely presentation.
The hostess was a bit rude to start with regarding our reservation because we requested upon our arrival to sit outdoors and we were told the tables outside cannot be reserved. There was only one table in use outside upon our arrival. She finally agreed to seat us there. We always sit outside and have always made a reservation through Open Table. Not sure what changed and with the COVID pandemic we prefer outdoor seating.
Scott, our waiter, was awesome! The salmon was delicious and prepared perfectly. Every meal we have had over the years at Isa's has been outstanding!
Service was delightful. Food was great. Ate on the patio on a nice evening. Perfect!
The food was a bit too salty for my taste but the service was spectacular!
We were outside. Covid procedures were followed. Cheese board was a fabulous surprise with multiple tastes.
We ate outdoors on a perfect day. Wonderful food excellent service. Felt very safe
This was my first trip to Isa's and I was pleasantly surprised. With covid restrictions in place the dining room felt very cozy and welcoming. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the wine selection and the brussel sprouts app was great. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. Would definitely go back.
My husband and I went to Isa's last Valentine's Day and it was fantastic. We were hoping for a similar experience on his Birthday, but unfortunately, our expectations were not met.
We had a great appetizer, but my husband's entre severely lacked. He ordered a medium-rare ribeye, and when it arrived, it was medium-well. We sent it back and the second go-around, he was served a well-done steak. We didn't want to send it back again, so he ate it regardless. At a high-end restaurant like Isa's, I expected more. We paid $100 and twice, we were let down. We were extremely disappointed.
Went for brunch - food and drinks were delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great food, and good service.
amazing! Great service
We had a nice quiet dinner for my birthday. Our server was very knowledgeable and persuasive. We’re so glad we took her suggestion on the mussels. Absolutely delicious! We will return when we visit asheville again.
Its was nothing special but good drinks and good food
Fantastic! Food service and plushy bears!!!! I’m coming back for those mussels!
Awesome server Food came out quickly as well
Remodeled very nicely
Great food and staff; excellent location and charming outdoor seating
Great location in downtown Asheville. Creative delicious food. Knowledgeable and friendly servers. Sat outside and enjoyed seeing Asheville coming back to life during the Chinese Communist virus pandemic. The restaurant practiced good measures during these difficult times.
Support local businesses!!
Great food. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. New renovations make the place feel new, but lack warmth. Good value.
Isa's Bistro always has great entres' and this was no exception. The rib-eye steak frites and scallops dishes were both fabulous. The server, who also in charge of training, was one of the best I've experienced in Asheville, NC. Even though they were in between renovations, the service and food quality distracted and made up for the bland atmosphere. Can't wait to return when renovation is complete.
It was the first night re-opening and dining was outside: it was lovely, the food was fabulous. My only suggestion: put a few more planters on the extended patio and make it a bit more private.
Too loud with the band. The band was great but with the high ceilings, it was sometimes hard to hear the other 2 people at our table.
Very good soup and sandwiches. A little bit expensive though.
