Jack Astor's - Whitby
Great atmosphere, awesome service. Decided to try the Bombay Chicken curry bowl and found that, while it did have lots of curry, it was still a bit bland probably missing certain flavour spices that would make it a much tastier dish. Nevertheless, it’s quite filling and would be even more worth the price if tastier.
It was very good.
We had the fajitas for two combo. We had ordered a bruschetta appetizer which was supposed to come out first. We wait about 15-20 minutes, no appetizer but out comes our main. We asked where the appetizer was and are first told that she had brought it out to us. We said no, she said yes, but then another waitress decided to go and get one for us. Trying to fit the appetizer (which had two of the five forces not even toasted) on our small table for two with all of the fixings for the fajitas was a challenge. While we were eating, at least two OTHER waitresses came out, one at a time, asking if the desserts in their hands were ours. We said no and they continued to search with lost looks on their faces. It seemed none of the wait staff were on top of things that night. The food tasted awesome hence the 3/5 score; service definitely needs improvement. It was probably the worst service we've had in many years of going to this location; I've had a pitcher of water accidentally poured down my back by a waitress here and that service was still better than this night.
Always love Jack Astor’s & their Beer & Cheddar soup & veggie long board
We have our ladies dinner + movie night at Jack's and we love the deal and the food!
It was great, but having coffee in a soup cup was different. Although no charge for the coffee, just weird. Get more coffee cups. Christmas parties are coming. How can you run out.
Food was terrible. Could not even eat burger.
Chicken tasted terrible
Would not recommend to anyone.. could not even be bothered complaining .. just wanted to leave.
All good. Food was great. Service was slow: I’ve definitely seen it much busier and had much better more efficient and attentive service. It was awhile between serve staff’s visits to the table and found her pretty distracted.
4 of us went for a couple birthdays. Drinks were good and service was fast. Staff as always were nice and made you fell that they were glad you showed up. Food as always very good. My wife and I enjoy Jack Astor's as a nice place to eat year round.
Dreadful food, what kind of mashed potatoes were they, look and tasted like paste, an awful looking bit of slop with a miniscule amount of toppings. Steak was overcooked, burger was a rip-off. Telling everyone not to go here, this place needs an obvious amount of improvement ,no wonder there were so may open tables, guess word of mouth is spreading. The funny t=shirts and witty waiters will not save this place. I give you a 6 months death notice unless changes are made, tops.
Nice for a quick meal on a night out
Our server made it great by comping our meal because it was extremely slow coming out of the kitchen. They were slammed and she made it right. Stuff happens. Thanks. Will be back.
there were a ton of people there waiting for tables however we walked right up to the front with our reservation and were seated right away, I felt like a celebrity, ha ha!! Open Table is the way to go!! There was no way we could have made it in time for our movie without it!
As for the food, I enjoyed my curry bowl however my hubby did not find the pad thai very flavorful. We would like to see calamari that is not deep fried but grilled instead.
Nice place, though was it very busy and packed day of. Would 100% recommend making a reservation in advance to skip the line. Food and service was good. 10/10 experience
Drinks are expensive and it’s a little loud but jacks seems to be a go to place for my friends and i
I made a reservation, someone contacted me to confirm my reservation, but when I got there they had no record of it. The waitress also did not come to our table enough, the bar tender said they would come speak with us, but he didn't. This was not good customer service at all!
one thing stood out more than anything, that was the waiter. I believe his name was Everet. He has a wonderful personality and we all had a lot of fun.
My complaint is that we do not have a Jack Astor’s in Oshawa! It would be so convenient and heaven knows, there is plenty of room for one of your restaurants. Please get cracking and make us all happy,
Birthday celebration was booked but not noted by server.
Jack’s has become our staple go-to. We both enjoyed our pasta dishes. Our server Sean was top notch. He was nice and and very attentive. He was also mindful of our timing when he learned we were catching a movie afterward - that was above and beyond!
I ordered the Sesame Chicken Bowl - was cool when it arrived & they did reheat it, but was quite dry, not enough sauce - I did ask for some more but it didn’t arrive. I have ordered this before & found it to be delicious.....
Always a great experience
Come here often. Love the nochos
Love that Jack's has craft beer on tap. A little weird that they had so many sours featured, since they don't really pair well with food, but still good to see them supporting local breweries!
Food was alright; standard pub food. I had beef tacos and a side Mexican salad. The tacos were OK, but the salad was awesome; I'd definitely get that full size!
Service was great. Jenna was friendly and we had some good laughs. She was patient with us when we were indecisive and super helpful. She was very familiar with the menu!
Great time & food while celebrating my son’s Birthday! Watching my younger son’s face as the staff sang Happy Birthday (he informed the waiter) & the joy in both boys was priceless!
Another great experience at Jack Astor’s. My wife and I enjoy the food and the service is always amazing. We made reservations online and when we got there they didn’t have our reservation but they let us in because of the mix up
Everything was good. Unfortunately there were times there were so many servers you didn't know which one was ours. More than one person would take your food or drink order and multiple others serving.
Unfortunately the cheddar beer soup was only luke warm and not hot.
Would like to see more low carb options, especially dessert.
Service was great, food was so so.
Steak as order medium well came rare .theother3 dinners where basic orders that didn’t require and special considerations.
We will pick someplace else that’s quieter next occasion.
Desserts were good.
Great service, good food and an all-around consistent place for a good date before a movie.
The mango tuna salad was amazing !
The fish and chips were barely average abd overpriced!
Very helpful and accommodating for people with food allergies. Manager went and looked up the ingredients in the items we ordered. Suggestion to get an allergy menu might be abit quicker. Got in quickly with reservation.
The server was fantastic and added to a great night
Waiter was excellent. Great time. Good company makes a difference too.
Just a night out for dinner and the food was really good, the service was excellent and the ambiance was great.
Will definitely be back soon.
food was good...my fish and chips were tasty but amazingly greasy. setting was great but there were two people beside us that were so loud that we had a hard time hearing each other speak. Kind of a delicate situation for the restaurant but at least 3 other tables were also impacted so maybe there is a gentle way to control overly excited clientele.
Food was great, waiter did a good job too. But I made a reservation and got stuck at a high table
Very busy the booth we got was so tiny both hubby and I were uncomfortable. My bourbon steak was so hot and over power what a waste of an 11oz steak. The fish bowl drink was pretty good. Also hubby ordered fajitas and they didn’t bring him a plate to eat off. They did take the nasty steak off our bill which was nice but with 3 kids we don’t get out often. Was very disappointed with the whole experience even the hostess was rude and distracted and bathrooms were dirty and without toilet paper or paper towels.
Hi there! Unfortunately, my husband and I were VERY disappointed in our dining experience. First and foremost I must tell you that we have NO complaints regarding our wait staff; we had two servers that were amazing. Our table was small and wobbly. Ugh. The broccoli bites were dry and would have been better if sauce was on side and not drizzled on. Guacamole was just OK. My fish and chips were tasteless. My "chips" were shoe string McCain style. Our broccoli bites were delivered to our table with such force that some of them fell off the plate on to our table. Our mains were delivered to us halfway through consuming our appies. Our table was too small to accomodate everything. It was awkward.
The food is good but one dish will not be consistent from one time to the next. I found that to be disappointing
I always love jack’a but hate the fact I never make reservations, for multiple occasions I’ve called weeks in advance to only be told they do not take reservations anymore... kinda disappointing. I don’t know if I just keep getting a bad employee or is a new p
Server was excellent and took very good care of us . Cheers
Service was excellent.
Food was also excellent.
A nice pleasant dinner before we
attended a movie.
We frequent this restaurant.
