The crystal shrimp dumplings, the brussel sprouts, the congee, and the custard buns were excellent. We had hoped they would have the dim sum samplers that are offered at the 40th Street location but they did not. Prices are reaonable.
Good evening and great staff . Extremely accommodating. Nice experience.
This is my second time at this restaurant and it was just as amazing the 2nd time around. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Two Thumbs Up, Jane G's!
Food, esp. appetizers incl. dumplings, was excellent. The entrees were creative and well-seasoned. I think the menu & food were definitely better than Jane G’s prior restaurant at this location, and similar to her Dim Sum restaurant in West Philly.
I’d definitely come back!
We were there on Valentine's day for the restaurant's opening night after being closed for about 2 months due to a kitchen fire. The restaurant is now Dim Sum House by Jane G's with a menu that duplicates their University City location, specializing in Shanghai and Cantonese dim sum, along with some of the Sichuan dishes they had before as entrees. The food was as delicious as it was before the fire. As expected on an opening night, the service was a bit disjointed and slow, but not in an annoying way. We will definitely be back in the future to sample more of the menu.
I had a reservation for 11:30. The restaurant opens at 11:30, I arrived a bit early, saw people inside but walked around the area until 11:30.
When I got back, they still had not opened the doors. Another individual was also waiting. I waited 10 minutes and still nobody came to the door. Tried going around to different windows to see if we could get someone's attention but there was no one in site.
Ended up having to leave and take my business elsewhere.
This restaurant is closed!!!!!!!!! I made a reservation on open table and got a confirmation request, which I did. I drove two hours to Philadelphia to find the lights out and a sign saying they had been closed since before “ the holidays”. Thanks open table!!
they have been closed for a fire but let you make a reservation anyway. messed up especially when your traveling to go there.
CLOSED!!! Windows covered with cardboard. Yet I could still make a reservation on Open Table!!! A waste of our time. Where to go w/o reservations on a Friday night !!!!
Jane G's Was Closed Due to Fire!!! So my reservation was irrelevant.
The review is aspirational.
Their kitchen had a fire and the restaurant was closed.
Got to the restaurant for our reservation tonight to find a sign on the door saying that the restaurant was closed due to a kitchen fire. I have no idea how long that sign had been there (I made the reservation this morning), but I don’t see why they couldn’t have notified people who made reservations through OT that they were not going to be open. We wasted our time getting there and it was difficult to find another restaurant with availability on a Saturday night. I recommend that you check that the restaurant has reopened so that you don’t have the same experience.
Great service. Better than average Asian food. Will go back
Great food and great time! Only downside was that they brought a 3 course meal out all at once
Service not quite first class but food and pricing make up for it.
Servers were busy fighting and arguing with each other as to who will clean the tables , never ever again to Jane G
Traditional Chinese plus good dimsum and dumblings. Good value.
Shabby torn up menu covers made for a very poor first impression. The place was noisy and it was not even half full. The service staff removed one of our two entrées before the other was done, always an annoying and unprofessional move. The food was somewhat better than average than the typical suburban strip mall Chinese restaurant.
Friendly efficient service and our waiter gave us great advice about dishes to try and how hot/spicy to order it. Delicious dan Dan noodles, great chili oil dumplings, and a numbingly delicious ma po tofu. We will definitely be back.
Delicious food and superb service!
We shared several plates and food was delicious. Many excellent veg options. The place is a bit loud even at lunch. Overall, a good lunch with friends.
Excellent lunch special of egg drop soup and chicken fried rice. Wine was very nice. Service was perfect.
We enjoyed everything! Our meals were delicious! The hot oil dumplings were absolutely amazing!
Had some good food and fast service
Always good food drinks and service and friendly staff
Jane G’s is authentic Chinese, always a great meal. The dumplings are delicious, and the Beijing Duck was outstanding. Service was attentive and food delivery was very quick but we were not rushed through our meal. A great experience.
Excellent! Great decor, perfect service. Spring rolls are great. Chicken fried rice is terrific and a huge portion.
Nice restaurant on nice block
Wait staff was rude and the food came out so fast we still had our starters, and soup in the table while the food arrived. Spice levels were not close to being right and most orders were wrong.
Noisy sitting on sidewalk. Good cocktails and Chinese food. Pretty inside.
Good casual experience. Food is good. Drinks are awesome. Soup, entree, drinks and tip all came under $100. Love this restaurant. We will be back.
Great, service and excellent food. Not your typical Asian restaurant
Had a very enjoyable meal. The Beijing duck was delicious. And the bites of everyone else’s choice were all excellent.
The place is esthetically pleasing, the service knowledgeable and pleasant.
Definitely, a return engagement destination.
The mapo tofu is huge and shareable and delicious. Also, the cold sesame noodles are awesome. This is a great place that would please many different kinds of people and tastes. One tiny little complaint, though -- why no fortune cookies?
Spring rolls were great. Chicken fried rice was excellent. Terrific service.
Extremely disappointing food - Kung Pao chicken had a lot of added sweetener (sugar), lacked the flavor and spice of authentic Kung Pao chicken. The string beans had good flavor but many were wilted and whithered. The brown rice tasted like it wasn’t sufficiently steamed. The food came out nearly instantaneously after we placed our order, so none of it, obviously would have been cooked to order.
There were very few Asians in the restaurant, which is located in Rittenhouse Square district not in Chinatown. Both of these should have been tip offs that this wasn’t the place to go for more authentic and fresh Sichuan style Chinese food.
3 stars because of the good food- the chili oil wontons won the night for sure. Soup dumplings weren’t bad. Shrimp lo mein simple but pretty tasty and not overly greasy. Dry pepper chicken came in very tasty and spicy. Maybe a little too spicy and too much breading on the chicken but still quite good.
Service was laughable. We had no designated waiter. The restaurant was only about 2/3 full at most. At any given point 4 different people serviced us, including the hostess taking our original order. The one server was very nice though and gave me a free drink due to delay in delivery of one of the dishes.
