Jimmy's Charhouse - Elgin
Good food good service and reasonably priced. Try the prime rib really good.
Friendly and attentive service, wide variety of cocktails and wines, food was excellent.
Good steaks and cooked perfect
Good food for the price
Another wonderful meal and great service. New Years Eve and it was packed. We had our reservations via open table and were seated right on time....even with all the walk ins. Great food and solid drinks....dessert was excellent! Consistently good in everything they do.
Food was excellent, ambiance was good. A little bit crowded and a little noisy. Otherwise always good.
My wife and I travel an hour to and from to experience dining at Jimmy's. The food is fantastic, the service is top of the line, and it's just a wonderful time spent weather it is for lunch or dinner and we've done them both.
Loud, steaks chewy, vegetables not done. Overcharged for soup (included) and stuffed shrimp (they were out that night). Out of Prine Rib also by 530pm.
Jimmy’s was a nightmare on Christmas Day. We arrived 5 mins early and lobby was packed with people waiting. We were told they were running late ie 15 minutes. This turned into 50 minutes. We were seated and ordered our meal. Restaurant was sold out of what I ordered which took another 15 -20 minutes to tell me and I told the waitress replace it with the smallest fillet. Our meal was delivered and my husbands was ice cold and mine was lukewarm. The smallest fillet was 2 approx 6 oz fillets to the tune of 52 for the meal.
My husbands birthday is 12/25 and we both wanted a desert for this occasion. We were never offered a desert menu just the bill and an apology from the waitress saying Jimmy’s isn’t like this chaotic dining experience.
The service was great, chicken was very good, my ribs were a bit dry but tasty. They were very accommodating with our little great grand baby. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks even though they were already out of some specials, I.e. prime rib...
Service and food was ok, not great.
Came in for Christmas lunch. Server was super friendly and nice. The issue was the food. Ordered ribs and it came with soup. The soup came out and about 1min later the ribs came out. Not sure how the ribs were cooked that quick. We didn’t even have time to sit and talk before the food came out. Also the loaded potato was a joke. $3 to make it loaded and it was a hard piece of cheese melted over the top. It was so over cooked the cheese just peaked off hard as a rock. Not worth the money
Our female porta ricin waitress was the best that Jimmy's has.
We have been going here for Christmas eve for the past 15 years and it has been going down hill the past few years. Had a 7:30 reservation it was very busy and we knew it would be, but I do think that they over book, we check in and went into the bar they was only two bartenders for the restaurant and bar, 15 minutes for two beers. We sat down at 8:15 and it was crazy in the dining room, our waitress was wonderful and crazy busy but she took care of us with drinks, we did not get are food till 930 and everything was cold and they ran out of potatoes. Sad to say we will be finding a new place to go next year.
We made reservations for Chrsitmas Eve, the waiting space was slammed, people waiting nearly an hour after their reservation time. People upset and leaving, we left as well rather than wait an hour for a table. Someone blew it. Too bad, it was THE place years ago.
I realize it was Christmas Eve, but they should have never taken so many reservations. They were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. We had reservations for 7:00 which I had made 2 weeks prior- we did not get seated until 8:00- by 9:30 had not gotten our food. Left $40 on the table for the drinks and walked out. Very disappointing Christmas Eve dinner.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner and it was great! Our waiter was fantastic and the food was delish!
Six long time friends meeting for a Christmas Lunch. Great time.
Great place with excellent food, awesome service, good prices. Love the atmosphere. Everything we ate was delicious. Can’t wait to go back!!
Delicious knots too conscientious staff.
Bad service. Torn chairs and food sub par. This was our second time trying this place and our last. Waiter kept bringing refills of ice tea when we ordered coke.
Lamb chops are simply "The Best" entree....music in the bar made for a perfect Saturday night.
steak was ok but i would have liked more than 1 piece of broccoli and 2 pieces of carrot
Eating at a restaurant on a busy holiday like Thanksgiving is always a bit of a gamble. Food was ok, but showed signs of an overloaded kitchen. Three and a half lamb chops, one sprig of broccoli and a lonely carrot did not present an appetizing meal in my case, but others at the table did not overlay complain. Salads need work as far as content and presentation. Appetizer was excellent, and the service was attentive.
We were at Jimmy's on Thanksgiving. It was very crowded and also noisy. But the service was excellent. The food was very good.
But next year I think we'll stay home on the holiday!!
Service is very good but it's too crowded and compact.
Good food and nice atmosphere! Service was also good and we enjoyed our dinner.
Have been to Jimmy's Charhouse several times. Food and service always good. We had a wonderful evening. Thank you.
The filet was perfect but the ribeye was done perfect but had zero seasoning other than parsley. The drinks were very good but at just shy of 59 we were both carded, a bit unnecessary. The server took our bill, paid in cash, and did not offer change, I was planning a nice tip but not that nice and he never got near us again before we finally left. Not a very professional move!
It was my 45th wedding anniversary and was looking forward to a wonderful meal. I'm sorry to say I was really disappointed. The vegetables & potatoes were so cold the butter would not melt. MY husbands pork chop was so tough and dry he could barely cut it. However my filet was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty. Overall really disappointed.
Lamb chop combo w/pork chop .... delicious. Music in the bar added to a fun
Saturday night. It was disappointing that they don't do anything special for birthdays.
Food was ok Friday night fish fry weak too much breading. Service was ok.
Etreamely loud, could not hold a conversation at the table. Waitress could not hear our order.
Had reservations and were seated in the back room. About the time our appetizer arrived a LARGE
bIrthday party arrived. All the tables but two were for the party. It was uncomfortably. We felt like we were the party crashers. Too make things worse all the noisy kids were sat next to us. Even the waitress apologized. The room should have been reserved for the party. What you gain by squeezing us in you lost in a repeat customer.
Food was not what I expected. Steak was good but not steakhouse caliber. Wait staff was good but not great we waited a while to even get our drink order taken. I am a server so I understand completely but business didn’t seem to be why it took so long . None the less, my family and I enjoyed our meal 100%.
I had been to Jimmy's Charhouse in Arlington Heights and had never been disappointed. I was not disappointed in the Elgin location either. I had liver and onions (my once a year boost of iron, wink wink) and really enjoyed it. Brandon was an excellent waiter, friendly, not intrusive, pleasant and good service. I find it a little dark in the entryway but overall, the evening of dinner with my friend was a huge success and we will be back.
The roof was leaking next to our table.
Service was awful. Server couldn’t care less of overall experience; had to ask for basics : bread and butter. Appetizer was late and salad/ soup came before app. Steak was poorly seasoned with no flavor. Cutlery was inferior for the cost of meal.
Will not visit again.
Wonderful food and excellent service. We are regular diners.
Regular Saturday night out. Excellent food and service.
