Johnny's Italian Steakhouse - Olathe
We started off with a very friendly greeting followed by a dirty table -- where we were told it had been cleaned. It was "cleaned" again and when we moved the oil decanter, there was a ring of built-up bread crumbs. In a COVID world, that's NOT okay.
Lobster bisque arrived -- great tasting -- had one, one inch piece of lobster and about 4 1/4" pieces -- still very tasty.
The three cheese ravioli and shrimp Rosa was just okay -- not a lot of flavor.
However, the ribeye was tasty.
When the bill came, we were charged for a bowl of French onion soup rather than a cup. Not a huge deal -- until what I can only assume was the manager (did not introduce himself) came over and was very rude when asking whether we had a bowl or a cup.
This is our second time at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse -- the first was Valentine's Day many years ago. We hoped our first experience was just a fluke (not a good experience) so we gave it another shot. We won't be back.
Had our anniversary dinner here and it was amazing! The salad dressing was great and our steaks were cooked perfectly! We will be back again soon!

I didn't realize this restaurant was part of the Hilton Garden Inn. We had reservations and were seated promptly even though we arrived 15 minutes early. Due to COVID, there was a very limited menu which wasn't mentioned on their website so it was a little disappointing even though I understand why, under the current circumstances. Our server may have been new so I'm giving her some slack, but we had no utensils or napkins upon being seated and had to chase down another server to ask for them. We had to sit and eat our calamari with our fingers - no plates, napkins or utensils. The food was good and they offered me a free dessert for my birthday so that part was nice. We may try again in the future once they've fully opened up with their regular menu.
Really good food. Table wait staff was okay. Would have liked to be checked on more often for refills, check on food quality (had to send one plate back as order was wrong), etc..
A little gem in Olathe! Finally found a nice restaurant in Olathe! Lots of casual neighborhood spots but sometimes we want to dress up and go out on the town! Very nice! Gave it 4* on food only because my husbands steak was to rare. They brought him another it it was just as rare! However he took it home as we had all finished and they brought him a dessert of his choice which was amazing!

Great food! Because of the Valentine's weekend, service was somewhat slower than usual. The staff was outstanding but slower than usual (more staff needed for these special dates). Food was well prepared and arrived hot. All members of our party were very happy with their food, the courtesy of all staff, and the ambience of the surroundings.

Everything was great with the exception we sat at our table 10-15 minutes without a server stopping by. The hostess noticed and came over to take our drink order and even offered a free appetizer. I appreciated her kindness for the slow service. After that, our service was very good!

We were a little disappointed in our experience overall. The restaurant was incredibly understaffed for Valentine’s weekend. It took 20 minutes just to get our drinks. My husband’s salad had the wrong dressing. We had a noisy party room behind us which finally a staff member closed the doors to. Our food took another hour to arrive and my husband’s pasta was not warm. My shrimp was tasty but a pretty small portion for the price. The ambience is lovely. I think the place has potential but our experience could’ve been vastly improved with prompt service and warm food. We don’t plan to return.
The fried goat cheese salad, iron skillet potatoes, filet and apricot salmon were all excellent. Will definitely be back.

Great Valentine night meal with my wife. This is the 3rd consecutive year we have gone to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse. Very nice setting and we weren’t disappointed!! If you have not eaten at Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse I would encourage you to plan a night out. Located in the Hilton Garden Inn and the folks who greet and serve are very good. Bon Appetite

Average overall experience. Restaurant was not busy and no reason to not have main dining open for more reservations from 5-7PM. Ambience was like a hotel restaurant and food was just average. Good value for the appetizers and entrees.

Ravioli very good but main dishes not worth the price or time. Filet was tough an flavor-less. Salmon was very dry.

Our appetizers were cold & the entree ravioli was stuck together with almost any sauce. The turtle cheesecake was the best part of the meal.
We were seated and 20 minutes went by. I had to get up and talk to the hostess to let her know we had not been serviced yet. The waiter reassigned to us was fabulous. The food was mediocre at best--chicken Parmesan was flavorless; the steak tough and dry. The garlic mashed potatoes were quite yummy.
However, they didn't mind when we sat and talked for 3 hours, so kudos for that.

Restaurant could not find the reservation when we arrived. I showed it to them on my phone. Waited a long time for food. Once it arrived it was cold, not cooked to the temperatures we asked for. Mashed potatoes very salty. Not very good at all. Tables dirty walls dirty in the booth we were in. Dining tables not being cleaned right away.

We were sat in a back room looked like a conference room with bright lighting, large round table with 6 conference room chairs (for two) sound was loud, and it was cold. We did not get bread until we noticed everyone else had it, and we then asked for bread, our water was empty until we asked our wait to come to our table and asked for a refill. Dinner was good except my steak had a large white thick tendon or something thru it. We had never been but did notice the actual restaurant looked nice. We made reservations ahead of time and there were open tables so I’m not sure why were sat at a table for 6 in a bright/cold conference room. I’m sure it was just a bad night.
Our server (Maggie or Maddie I think) was fantastic! She was very attentive and answered all of our questions. The drinks and all courses of our dinner were delicious. Would definitely recommend!

SO good. Will absolutely be back. We went for restaurant week and were very happy with the experience from the food to the service. I ordered the following:
1. Caesar Salad
2. 9oz Sirloin Steak topped with Parmesan Butter and a side of garlic mashed potatoes
3. Turtle Cheesecake
4. Dazzle Dazzle cocktail — I love a sweet drink

The place is very pricey but not worth it at all. The night before the reservation, I got a call asking if we were coming. I definitely had the right day...they had looked wrong. Arrived the next night and got sat at a table where I felt I was on display. Not a cozy spot for our 51st wedding anniversary which I had noted on the reservation. The service was poor. Brought the main course before I was done with my salad. Delivered it anyway on the side to get cold. Never picked up any dirty dishes. Uptick on every little thing. So ended up being pricey for tough veal parmigiana, etc. No mention of our special night...but that's OK if the food and service made for an enjoyable evening. Only two other tables filled and the side room for a little party on a Sat. night. Guess the non attendance speaks for itself.
Food was very late coming out and cold - not good for a Christmas Eve celebration ...
Our tradition is to have an Italian dinner for Christmas Eve. This was our first visit to Johnny’s. but we are certain it will become an annual favorite. Lovely service and excellent dinner.

The appetizers were amazing!! We had the scallops and house chips. Unfortunately the other main courses weren’t very good overall. I ordered the Parmesan crusted sirloin and crab stuffed shrimp. The shrimp was not cooked at all and the garlic mashed potatoes and shrimp were cold. The steak was okay... a little tough. My daughter ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and again the shrimp was undercooked and cold along with the mashed potatoes. My husbands steak was okay, with cold mashed potatoes.
Great food - I had the medallion trio. Service was excellent. Atmosphere is kind of ‘hotel restaurant’ boring.

Waitstaff somewhat impatient to have us order despite no other diners in view. Waitstaff got the orders correct but were otherwise a nuisance.
