Excellent service. Good food. Nice live music. Dining in the upstairs dining room for the first time very nice. Pretty good wine list. Nice bourbon selection. The outside dining is to die for when the weather Is good.
The restaurant setting was ok
Wet nice setting. Jazz played live
If you’re looking for something good but not great it is not a bad option. The service is great but the food is only average.
We went for brunch. The food was good, but not spectacular. The decor is very stylish but period piece for the house. While the room is bright and inviting, the sound carries quite a bit. I could hear peoples conversations 4 tables away. The best part was our waitress. Very nice, professional yet familiar. The only real negative is the parking situation, there is none. There is the streets. That's it. We were lucky enough to get something right around the corner. Overall, a nice time.
Having heard good things about Kenmore Inn, we went with another couple to celebrate our triple decade wedding anniversaries. There was a 60-person wedding party on the beautifully appointed main floor, while the restaurant guests were shuffled off to the basement with exposed pipes, ghastly-bright light fixtures, and uncomfortable chairs. When one of the staff shared the number of wedding reception guests, we inquired if some staff had called-out, hoping this explained the 20 minutes it took to get our drinks. Alas, no...only 2 servers on the schedule! Seriously, scotch on the rocks arrived and the ice had nearly completely melted! The staff we encountered were apologetic, but too overwhelmed to share anything historical with our party even when we shared that the whole party were first-timers at Kenmore Inn and in spite of including notation in our reservation that we were celebrating 32 and 37 years married, no mention or inquiry was made of our special occasion. Very disappointing as the food was good, but there are just too many other restaurants with good food to tolerate such poor planning on the part of management. Wish we’d left when the drinks took so long to arrive. We probably could’ve walked to another spot downtown and truly celebrated.
Despite the tables with white linens on the website, dinner is in the tap room in the basement, without table cloths or even a sign indicating where to enter the restaurant. The only thing redeeming about our meal was the smoked chicken, which was delicious. But you have to be very careful what you order. The sandwich with vegetables came on stale bread with few vegetables. We should have sent it back. Service was fair at best.
The basement was not available due to a private party. We would not have made a reservation had we known that. The waitress was attentive at first, but left us without checking on us for too long. Water glasses went unfilled for half the meal. The take-home boxes were mixed up and we ended up with some other party's leftover food items. We were unhappy with our dining experience.
The service was terrific. We went here for my birthday, so I was hoping for a special evening. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich with roasted potatoes. The potatoes were fantastic--seasoned perfectly. I could not stop eating them. The vegetarian sandwich was mostly bread and very non-memorable. But I was glad they at least had a vegetarian option for me. My husband had 3 crab cakes with the same roasted potatoes. He told me the crab cakes were pretty skimpy on the crab and had too much filling in them. For dessert, I had carrot cake. It tasted like it was about 5 or 6 days old by the time it got to my plate. But, as I said, the service was awesome and, overall, we were glad we went (for the ambiance, etc). The main entrees were just average, though.
They were a bit stretched on staff...but, a delightful brunch nevertheless!! Nice spot!!
The very obvious attitude of the hostess who sadly was our server was ruinous to our having aaa wonderful experience as we had experienced in a restaurant two blocks away the night before. Had not been to Fredericksburg I quite some time and was looking forward to having a lovely brunch at the Kenmore Inn. My traveling companion and I love historical homes as is evident of our retiring to Williamsburg. A client of ours sits on the board of the Kenmore house and we have other ties to Fredericksburg.
The description of my choice for brunch was not at all what was served. My dining companion could not finish his soup as it was really a let down. We dine a lot together and never ever complain about our meal. The server was not privy to our indifference. She was however most verbose about her just not wanting to work. Not he right job for her: the hospitality job.
Will never return to that restaurant but plan to return to Fredericksburg more frequently.
Never have I had experience with any of Open Tables restaurants. Perhaps you should start being more particular.
Beautiful place, great live music, wonderful staff and food.
We had reservations for three at 11:45 am. There was one other table occupied when we arrived. Two more were filled while we were there. The dining room was bright and lovely, but the fare was more "lunch" than "brunch". The two true brunch options were omelettes and a really, really yummy sounding French toast...but our waitress told us right away that they were out. Wine was on the menu, but Bloody Marys and Mimosas would have been nice. The omelettes were very good, but there weren't any bread options. We asked for biscuits which we saw on the menu as part of another entree option (sausage gravy on a biscuit). They were huge, but still cold in the center. Our waitress didn't bring the ordered jam for the biscuits until we asked a second time and were almost finished with our meal. No apologies, but at least she didn't charge us an extra $3 for each of the biscuits, which she said she would have to do when we asked for them.
Truly enjoyable dining experience. We sat outside on the patio. Terrific meal and service. I had the swordfish special and a good glass of wine. Well paced service. Will definitely return.
Excellent!!!! celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary there. reat service, quiet space with great food. Highly recommend a visit. Staff was great!
Outstanding service and a perfectly prepared meal while dining on the patio with live music. That’s a 5 star evening.
We made reservations for 7:15 on a Saturday. We showed up a few minutes early. We waiting by the hostess area/bar for about ten minutes. Eventually, the bus boy asked if we had reservations and for what time. After telling him, he said he'd find the host. He came back a few minutes later and said we could sit anywhere. We sat down on the patio, and the bus boy filled out water glasses. For the next 15 minutes, we looked around and observed a lot of other guests sitting near us with just water. Looking inside, we could see just one waitress trying to manage all of the tables on the inside of the restaurant. We gave it a few more minutes, then got up and left. We used to love this place, but this was the third visit in a row, and we've noticed a pretty big drop off in service. This was our last visit.
Lovely meal with wonderful service
The setting is fantastic. That being said our food was undercooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen and after the initial coffee and tea the refills were non existent. There are many opportunities in town for a wonderful meal and I believe we will try somewhere else next time.
First visit during restaurant week...will definitely return. Fabulous cocktails, delicious food, and wonderful service.
Table was in basement area under B&B. Would have loved a more elegant surrounding. Food was excellent. Service a wee bit slow, but we are going back again Friday as we liked it.
I normally enjoy coming here, but I felt this was an off night for them. The service was incredibly slow.
The Kenmore Inn never disappoints. Enjoyed the restaurant week selections. And, of course, to eat a wonderful dinner accompanied by light jazz, was icing on the cake. We also enjoyed spending a bit of time in the garden patio. We definitely recommend the Kenmore Inn.
The atmosphere waa amazing. That was the only thing that made the evening endurable. The service was incredibly, extremely slow. I'd go back for the ambiance. It's beautiful outside with the patio lights and the live music was excellent. However the food was wanting- flavor was lacking. And did I mention service was slow.
A great choice for a special event. Server was friendly and attentive without "hovering" The setting is relaxing with three different levels of formality. Food was just a tad rich for me, but I will make a different choice next visit. There will definitely be a next!
Wonderful restaurant. Quaint and true to the area. Excellent ambiance and atmospheres. Great menu and wonderful food. Hard to decide but we did, went with the Inn burger and chicken salad sandwhich. The burger cooked to perfection and chicken salad wonderful flavor. We treated ourself to desert too. The peach cobbler was terrific topped with ice cream and the banana pudding best ever had. Wonderful ending to a nice day. There was open mic night and the music was nice.
Very much enjoyed the brunch. The menu was more limited due to Father's Day, but was still great.
This place is a gem. We were driving to Williamsburg and passing through Fredericksburg late in evening and hadn't eaten. I found this on Open Table and we got a 9:30 reservation which was perfect since we were ten minutes away. It was quiet by then, but there were people at the bar. We were greeted so warmly and taken to a table. The building is very old, 1700's but updated of course and very cozy. Oldies played in the background. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, made good recommendations. We had crab cakes and wine to start; I'm not a crab cake lover but these were light and delicious with minimal filler. My husband had the marinated chicken sandwich and I had the chicken pot pie; both very satisfying and nice portions. We both agreed it was a lucky find and will definitely come back!
I felt like we were in Charleston having a lovely dinner. So beautiful!
We had a reservation for Sat evening. It was my birthday, noted with reservation. No big deal (never expected anything) but a courteous Happy Day would have been nice.
The outdoor patio is just lovely and it was a perfect night. A definite plus. One meal was terrific , other
crab cakes were sub par at best. there was more lobster chunks in the bisque than in the crab cakes very bready, stringy crab and probably left from day before. When asked how it was, I said ok and shrugged an ok. figuring it would open up a conversation, no. There were a very generous 3 crab cakes and when just 1 and a bite is eaten ... you would expect a "why" ? Needless to say it was a dissappointing way to leave.
Birthday brunch. Everything was delicious from drinks & appetizers to entrees to dessert & coffee. Highly recommend for Springtime brunch.
Beautiful restaurant and very quiet. Food was delicious. My wife got the swordfish and I got the filet. Reasonably priced for the ambiance.
Our first visit to Kenmore Inn. Very disappointing. The martini and Caesars salad were good. The 3 entrees left a lot to be desired. Crabcakes were mostly filler and very salty. Short rib was fatty, gristly and dry. Chicken came out undercooked. Leg was bloody and still translucent. Kitchen said it was ok like that. What? Sent it back to be finished. I guess we were being punished because it took over 10 minutes to get it back properly cooked. However, it was tasty.
Creme brulee was the tiniest one I have ever seen. But that was ok because its flavor and texture were not very good.
All in all, a pretty shabby dining experience. We won't be back and we recommend you don't go either.
Yes I would recommend the Kenmore Inn to a friend and I will bring friends at our next visit
Kenmore Inn is a lovely place. My sister and I enjoyed an elegant Sunday brunch, and my husband and I dined outdoors one night in their lovely garden. It's beautiful!
The Kenmare Inn is a little colonial treasure in old Town Fredericksburg at Princess Anne and Lewis streets. The restaurant is the lower ground floor and flowered courtyard of a reconstructed 1743 house. Upstairs is a B& B with nine rental rooms.
Farm to table fare is offered. A full bar offers, crafted bar drinks, wines by the glass and craft beers to accompany meals of 1 to 4 courses. All at sensible prices.
We shared superb crab cakes, Ceasar sa
And mixed green salads and a home made chicken pot pie: all savory and served with a smile. The mains also offered steak, Artic Char, chicken, hamburger plus a vegetarian special. Soup and desserts were a temptation we passed on. The outside rear courtyard dining is enticing. Wrought iron tables, white table clothes amidst lovely gardens. A bit of a chill so we chose the windowed table near the open French doors and shared the lively buzz from the barroom as well! A short Uber/Lyft ride from our strip motel, after a full day of driving, made it easy to find. Parking might be a challenge. But worth a go.
Kenmore Inn was terrific. The food was incredibly fresh and well prepared. The ambiance was gorgeous. We ate outside in the courtyard which wss beautiful. See the picture. I highly recommend it.
The food was good, but the service was awful. It took over an hour to get our food and 30 minutes to get a glass of wine. No bread or butter or apologies were provided. I had the same issue that last time I dined here. Sadly, I won’t go back.
It’s a great atmosphere and fairly good cuisine, but not a real restaurant as they ignore their diners.
The atmosphere is infectiously fabulous. Muted tunes with great food and drink plus... a delightful team. WOW! And you can't help but think that you are in this historical venue where powerful discussions have taken place. More WOW!
