King's Fish House - Mission Valley
Great food, and staff. No one at our table could say anything bad about anything they ordered. Above our expectations
Service very slow
I ordered the Ono off the lunch menu and it came to the table raw in the middle. It appeared more seared than cooked. The server offered to have it remade and it was brought back over cooked. There also was a piece of the under cooked fish still on the plate.
Good, we went at 5pm so it was crowded or noisy. Food was, service was great. Parking was tight when we left
OYSTERS ARE FRESH AND TASTY. MACADAMIA HALIBUT IS ALWAYS GOOD, PRICEY THOUGH...
Food is consistently good and I cannot say enough about the service provided each time I go. I have never had the same server but somehow they hire the best here.
Ken was our server and he was fantastic!
I waitress was very rude not happy at all I didn’t think she wanted to work I still left her a $35 tip on $150 lunch she was old enough to know better it was quiet in there I didn’t wanna say anything the food was excellent but she needed an attitude adjustment
We were sat at a table with a fan directly above and light above that so every time the blade moved it flickered the light causing a headache. Asked to be moved and was accommodating. Now seated outside our waitresses normal area instead of being reassigned a new waitress we waited on everything. At the end the other waitress cleaned our table to get us out of her section can’t blame her. Food was great no outstanding is a better word.
Great except they said we didn’t come.
Great seafood and service is always great. Lady manager who I forget her name is always on top of things and visits tableside to ensure customer satisfactions. We go there regularly and feel its one of the best seafood restaurants in SD and prices are fair.
Comfortable atmosphere in the bar area. Great food.
Good menu, enjoy trying something different every time. Always seated quickly upon arrival
We know we can always receive a good meal at King's. Great seafood.
Love this restaurant. I gave it a low score on ambience because there was a a terrier mix at the booth across from ours. Not on the floor, actually sitting at the table with his people. Side by side. I love dogs, but this was not a service animal. I asked the staff at the reception what their policy was concerning dogs in the restaurant. They were upset and said the family refused a patio table and said they were going to eat in the restaurant. Basically bullied their way in. The dog was well behaved, but seriously, it was a nice restaurant, not fast food.
Very disappointed on this dinner experience. It took 11 minutes for a waiter to show up. I had to ask the from to look for the waiter. During the dinner we had two different waiters. None of them asked how the food was. And then they serve the entree on glazed but dinged metal plate.. I felt like being in the third world or navy ship.
We were a large party and the service was outstanding for such a big group.
We had a wonderful waiter, the fish was perfect.
We had sand dabs, halibut, glazed carrots and roasted brussel sprouts. Gin martini with a twist we couldn't of gone wrong. Very impressed the food was amazing.
Great server! Attentive and had good recommendations.
Great restaurant with open atmosphere and lovely ambiance. Food was superb and the staff were awesome! Will definitely go back!
Consistently very good.
This was my first time although others in the party have been there before. We were celebrating a co-worker's birthday. I started off with a spicy bloody mary to drink and I have to say it's one of the best ones I've had. We ordered the seafood combo for appetizers, recommended by the waiter in place of the two appetizers we were going to pick. There was plenty to share between the six of us. The calamari was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, crab cakes were delicious!
For entree, I got the macadamian nut crusted halibut with brussel sprout and asparagus for my two sides, it was delicious!!! others at the table ordered a crab/shrimp louie salad, cobb salad and claims and linguine. Everyone was pleased with their food. I secretly told our waiter that we were celebrating a birthday and at the end of our meal, he gave me the signal and brought out bread pudding with ice cream with a candle (on the house).
It was a perfect birthday lunch. I would definitely go there again.
Great food; decent service; overall there were no issues. I just wish our table wasn't right next to the door to the patio seating on a cold night where one party decided to brave the weather. The draft as servers went in and out was a bit much. But, the food was great and impressed some folks who have a low opinion of local cuisine. Some dishes are a bit pricey, but the portions for King's Fish House are better than comparably priced restaurants. Items were cooked right, they looked appetizing, and the speed of service was fairly decent (keep in mind this was an off-peak hours dinner, though we did have a large party).
King's has yet to fail me (visited in several states). This one is better than another one in the area I've been to.
Great seafood. Service was spot on. Even the one steak in our party was a quality meal. We go there all the time. Being able to reserve via OpenTable makes it even nicer.
Impeccable service, absolutely amazing fresh seafood, and the sauteed spinach never disappoints. The sea scallops were perfectly prepared, and I love the great side choices.
Great seafood!’ Spider lobsters fabulous!
Most dishes are yummy. Had the Louie salad. Decent amount of crab but the shrimp were very tiny and not a lot of them. Great dressing. Lettuce a bit too wet. Co-diner had the N'awlins Sauteed Shrimp. Server said it was spicy so guest ordered it with medium spice....came with virtually NO spice. It was good but could have been great with the right amount of spice.
We celebrated two birthdays and the butter cake and key lime pie were both 10's. Server did a nice job.
This is the first time my daughter's been to your restaurant. My husband and I have been there several times since we discovered it a few months back. Daughter says this is her new favorite place to eat out! It was our 61st anniversary and she asked us where we wanted to go and of course we picked your restaurant. All was perfect! We are a large extended family of 25 and they will all hear about you. Thank you for a great evening. Best food, best service, best ambiance!!
I ordered the southwestern salad and had hard broken French fries in my salad. I found a least 4-6 pieces. Thought they were the stripped tortilla chips. Spit out two and then went digging for the rest to avoid them. I was in a business meeting so I didn’t address it. Weird.
I have been attending a business meeting at this restaurant once a month for at least three or four years. The very best thing on their menu was the baked mussels. I say "was" because without warning they have now removed these from the menu and apparently won't even make them on request. These are the main reason I go to this restaurant.
King's in Las Vegas always has good food, but our visit to the San Diego location was very nice. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Our food was all excellent. My lemon drop martini was especially good!
The fish was wonderfully fresh and tasted great this is a very enjoyable experience and the service was superb Keylime pie should not be missed
We were visiting San Diego and ate many meals out. King's Fish House was a high point. We were seated right away in the quieter side of the restaurant, v. the side with the bar, for which we were thankful. Our server, Susan was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. She cheerfully answered our questions and checked in on us at appropriate intervals. My husband had a crab and shrimp Louie salad that was chock full of fresh vegetables and seafood. It came on a large oval dish and looked immense, but he was able to finish it. I had the Parmesan crusted sand dabs. I was worried that the Parmesan would overwhelm the delicate flavor of the fish, but Susan assured me it wouldn't and it was delicious. Many entrees come with a choice of two sides. I chose sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes. Mac and cheese and sauteed kale were also tempting. The food was fresh and well prepared, as opposed to being processed or frozen. The decor is fun and sea-related. Quirky napkins with cartoon bad fish jokes set the mood. I don't think you could stay grumpy in such a smile-inducing environment.
It is a moderately priced seafood restaurant with lots of choices. Good food, attentive service, and you can carry on a conversation.
Extremely slow service despite being almost empty.
Two fish dishes overcooked. One fish dish raw in the middle. Been here before and it was fine. Have to assume the cooks need training.
Keith was a great server and created a wonderful experience for my mom and I.
Dine here regularly but today this was UNACCEPTABLE! NOT RECOMMENDED! Server took our order, brought out the starters then disappeared! Had anyone asked we would have told them the scallops were cold, veggies barely warm and halibut medium warm. Forced to go ask for the check from another staff member.
As usual, you never fail to deliver. We always look forward to coming to King's Fish House. My wife loves the salads and I am a forever fan of the catfish, grilled zucchini and French fries. Incidentally, you have the best chowder and sourdough bread on the planet.
Was very good, most in our party had sushi, very fresh and tasty. The grilled swordfish tacos were delicious! Pumpkin cheese cake outstanding ! Everyone had a great meal and no complaints. Our waitress Lily was on top of things. Great luncheon all around!
