The food and service were great!
Food and service was superb. Noise level was high. We had a hard time hearing conversations
Food and general ambiance was good ... exceptional in some cases. Service was average and tightly packed tables contributed to noisy climate which detracted from any really sense of coziness.
The food was amazing, with great service... Very intiamte, plan on returning
This was the best food we have ever eaten. Fantastic from beginning to end. We received excellent service and enjoyed every aspect of the experience.
Disappointed that I made reservations during the first week of January for Valentine’s Day, only to be sat in the secluded room to the side with zero ambience. The ambience is what drives the concept of La Chaumiere.
Food was still good.
La Chaumiere is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of D.C. and unwind with delicious French cuisine. The wait staff are polite, attentive, and professional. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the prices are extremely reasonable. It's also conveniently located in Georgetown, and makes for a perfect place to re-energize before doing some shopping. I will definitely be going again.
Excellent all around. Take someone special. It's worth it. Memorable experience.
The food is spectacular and they have some of the most professional knowledgeable waiters I ever had. Will definitely go back!
Incredibly knowledgeable wait staff. No cell phone policy which I love. Incredible food. Will go back!
It was a lovely evening. Our server was very helpful and responsive. The food was delicious. We will be returning!
Très bon accueil et professionnel.
Le service est rapide et efficace.
On retrouve les bons plats comme en France.
Great food, nice service, great ambiance! We’ll be back
La Chaumiere continues to provide one of the most enjoyable dining experiences in the Washington region. From the cozy, provincial atmosphere to the professional, friendly service to the well-chosen, well-priced wine list to the exceptionally well-prepared menu of classic French dishes -- and desserts! -- we have always had an outstanding experience. The Quenelle itself is worth a frequent visit.
What a wonderful experience. The Thursday cassoulet was superb.
We love this very sweet restaurant. The food is delicious -- always! Everything! Ambiance is charming. We will go again a again -- and have been taking friends!
Charming old school French restaurant with a large menu. Classics such as duck confit and rabbit several specials and even. Calf’s brains on capers- a rarity.
Don’t forget the chocolate or grand marnier soufflé.
We visited La Chaumiere after our elopement ceremony and we’re so glad we picked this restaurant! The service was phenomenal, the atmosphere was incredibly intimate and romantic, and the food was out of this world. My now husband said the food melted in his mouth! I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions, date nights, or gatherings with friends. The menu and atmosphere can meet your needs for just about any occasion! Thank you for a lovely dinner and many memories.
Disappointed in a well-reviewed mainstay of the DC dining scene. First after waiting a good 2 minutes for him to look up, the host at the door gave us a pretty icy "Name?" instead of a welcome smile, or at the very least a pleasant look. The dining room is very tight and noisy. Our waiter was not very good at reading the table, interrupting some obviously intense conversation more than once. I understand the need to turn tables, but I expect more from a Michelin restaurant.
The food was disappointing. The exception was the French onion soup which was excellent. The lobster bisque was misnamed as there was no lobster and it was very watery. My veal was quite ho-hum and not very hot. Same with the scallops. And the highly touted, "you must order ahead" souffle was barely warm and flavorless.
We probably won't return.
We loved our experience and the service was wonderful!
One of my favorite places in DC. Always reliably pleasant service, and good food.
Excellent, as always
Always reliable and does not disappoint. My one difficult experience with the server many months ago has been overcome by returning to this gem. The wait staff is excellent as minded by the ever watchful maitre-d. There is a co nor feel to the ambience, met welcome in the busy street life of DC. I will return soon again.
We had an amazing evening. We've lived in area of over 20 years and haven't been here before. The atmosphere was charming and very warm. Food was delicious - pate, sweet potato/lemon grass soup, fish stew, veal scallopini and topped it off with the signature chocolate souffle. We would repeat all of this but there were so many other choices on the menu that when we go back we have to expand our experience. What made our evening particularly great was our waiter, Ron. He was helpful with the menu choices, engaging, thoughtful, chatty - whenever we wanted to be and had a wonderful sense of humor. We took a chance and asked him to select a wine to complement our entrees. We knew there was a wide price range there and weren't quite sure what to expect. He pleasantly surprised us with a reasonably priced Gamay wine that complemented our meal perfectly. Overall great experience - thank you (!) and yes, we will be back.
Great experience -somewhat dated decor-exceptional service -wonderfull food -
Always excellent across the board. We would do nothing different.
Excellent food and service. Especially nice desert menu.
We loved out meal at La Chaumiere. It was a very quiet and lovely experience, the reason it was quiet was we were sat in the very small intimate front room. The food was lovely as well.
Poor service. Took forever to get seated even with my reservation while they had open tables available. Waiter lacked bedside manner I would have expected from a “Michelin” star restaurant. He didn’t know the specials but had to read them from his notes. Food was great but does not meet Michelin star service quality at all.
Always great. All around. It’s that simple.
My fav place to eat in DC. I have been going there since this first year they opened. Outstanding Grand Soufflé
Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Classic French dining from the service to the wine to the entree selection. If I lived in Georgetown, I would dine here as often as possible, at least every week! This establishment has a well-deserved Michelin star. As we were walking into the restaurant, customers were coming out exclaiming how delicious and exceptional their dinner experience was. I felt like I was transported to Paris. What I’d really like to do is transport this foodie treasure to New York City where I live. So many equally lovely French restaurants have closed in the past decade. Worth the trip to Georgetown just to dine at La Chaumiere!
Enjoyed our evening very much. Excellent escargot. Will return.
Always superb service, and very very good traditional French food. The restaurant has a wonderful open fire on a cold winter’s day. The ambiance is welcoming and diners feel at once at home.
Food was alright but flavors weren't too special or outstanding. Felt overpriced as well, but ambiance was cozy and service was nice and quick. Overall would not return back though.
Food left much to be desired. Unsure if we tried on a bad night, but would not return. Service was to be expected for this price range, and ambience was nice for a date night type evening.
Nice but rather expensive, we spent a good romantic evening with my husband. French quisine seemed a little bit bland to my husband.
Excellent evening of fine dining. Food and wine were superb. Service was excellent. It was a busy night so a bit noisy but we were able to talk. The trout and salmon were excellent as well as the mussels and escargot. Get location excellent venue. We will be back. Thank you.
Simply the BEST, most reliable restaurant in DC! Always my favorite !
We went for restaurant week and I was surprised at how few choices there were and with the number of dishes that required add ons. Hard to find something to order. We also are there Christmas Eve and the food was memorable. Friday it was run of the mill. I will not go there during restaurant week again.
