La Collina Restaurant
The menu selections, quality of food and service was exceptional this evening. Elana our server could not have been any more attentive or accommodating and her sense of humor made for a fun evening.
Wonderful!! Can't wait to go back.
Carmen provided wonderful service! Excellent food as always too!
The food is outstanding. Had the Branzino again. Always try to make it when I’m in town.
Cheryl was wonderful! I’d ask for her every time!
Great service and great food!!!
The tables were a little close together but it was also Valentines weekend so its usually likely not a big deal. Food was excellent as was service.
We got a bad table right in the middle of a high traffic area and not far from the front door. Otherwise, everything was very very good
Friendly staff, Great food, and a nice atmosphere what more can somebody ask for? 10/10 would come again.
Great atmosphere—perfect for my lovely Valentine’s Day date...thank you!
First time visit. We felt a little rushed but we chocked it up the Valentine’s Day dinner push. We’ll try it again on a non-celebratory day.
Upscale scenery such a nice view! Great spot
We found it unusual for an Italian restaurant not to have soup mine was a Salmon, and other than really minute window dressing vegetables, the fish was it, no antipasto either; we might recommend it as a novelty experience, but we don’t feel a rush to pay this restaurant a second visit; thankfully, plenty of REAL Italian restaurants’ choices in the general Philadelphia area.
We love everything about this restaurant. Great food. Wonderful waiters . Perfect drinks. Will be back next week.
Everything was perfect... it really was. I can't tell you why, but I wasn't wow'd. While I never mind paying for a great meal, this was VERY expensive and it was fine... nothing wrong... just ???
We got off to a rough start when the host sat us immediately behind his station which was a cramped table between the bar, the entrance where everyone came through and left, and the rest of the restaurant tables. I immediately asked to be moved and was rebuffed by the host. At that point half the tables were open including for 2 seating in the outside room with a view. It took our first waitress 15 minutes to take our order for and deliver drinks as she had a large party behind us and was also weilding a large dessert tray on wheels around. By this point my partner asked the manager to be moved (as I was about to leave) and he obliged sitting us on the oppisite side of the restaurant with a view of the river and Manyunk. Our new server was prompt and while it was noisy in that area, we ordered were served and generally enjoyed the food. For a 3 digit priced meal in which we split 3 glasses of wine and did not order dessert, I thought it was OK. I would not recommend it based on the service, the hosts attitude and the price level given the barely above average restaurant that holds itself out as something more.
Not sure why complimentary bread was so difficult to cut. Fried calamari cooked just right. Ordered Salmon entree, salmon was delicious, though slightly undercooked , our sides? feel we should’ve received more than 8 green beans each and I think 1 potato was divided amongst me and two of my dinner companions . Our waitress was nice and attentive.
I was here a few years ago and had wonderful experience. I move out of the area and returned recently. My friends talked about going again and so we did. I made reservations for 6 two weeks in advance. The trip from SJ was an hour one way on Friday night. The night before I looked at the reviews and at that point considered canceling because of the reviews but decided to go anyway without alarming others. I got a wedge salad and nearly broke my tooth (could be cracked, still sore) on a piece of blue plastic in which was given to the waitress and followed by an apology from a manager and said they would remove the salad from the bill followed by it must of came from the bottle of dressing. My wife ordered the DRY AGED NY STRIP Special $45.00 and it was the Worst piece of meat ever experienced. It wasn't dry aged, we have had at other restaurants. Couldn't cut it with a steak knife. My guests all agreed the food was average. To make matters worse when the bill came (one of the reviews I read about) they added extra drinks and extra deserts to the check.
Very good value for a nice night out with the wife
Food was good, not great. Service was not very good. Waiter was very inattentive until the bill came. This was a one and done for us.
It doesn’t get any better!! The owner is always there which ensures the best experience.
Wonderful service, great food, lovely evening on a whole.
Although the food was delicious the service was less than impressive. We asked for bread 3 times before it was actually brought to the table. I ordered wine that never came to the table until I asked about it a second time. But the worst was that I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp FraDiablo that was delicious, and the waiter threw it away after asked to box it. Mind you it was at least 1/2 of my $43.00 dinner. The waiter neither offered to replace it or take it off our bill. I will not be returning.
Less than impressed with the food. Do you want authentic Italian go to the Saloom, that place never disappoints
I must say I was underwhelmed. I had wanted to dine out here for so long, I was so excited and then so disappointed. While food was fresh, and carefully presented, the Grilled Octopus was most certainly NOT grilled, but cooked on A FLAT GRIDDLE, or sauteed; the texture and lack of any grilled parts were unexpected. Different dish than what menu said in the end. Very pricey for portion, and so noisy the servers could not hear well, we were drowned out. Seafood on Friday was super fresh, as expected, and deserts were also. I'd go back but with more realistic expectations for a much less elegant meal.
I think that La Collina is worth trying. I can't say for sure I would rush back but I think the meal was good. We pulled up to a packed parking lot/restaurant and were greeted by a super friendly, hardworking valet guy. We go inside to check in - not an over the top greeting but not rude. Waiter was efficient, not overly friendly but got us what we needed in a timely fashion. Bread, apps, salads - all great. The Dover Sole had bones (not just one or two...) - that is something I can't over so I didn't eat my meal but the apps were great so I was full anyway. My husband also got Dover Sole - no bones in his but he said he has had better - again, not bad - just not the best. The pasta special (shrimp ravioli) was VERY good. The Penne Vodka was also REALLY GOOD. The carrot cake my daughter got was one of the best we've had and the cannoli cake was equally as good. The bus boys were working like dogs and provided the friendliest service of all! It was expensive - a decent meal.
I really enjoyed my experience. Our servier, Carmine, was great!! We were there for a bday so I wanted it to be special. My only small issue would be that I was dissapointed to not see a lamb dish on the menu but that is a small issue. Great food, drinks, and desssert!
The quality of the food, the menu choices and the service was phenomenal Saturday night. Our server Carmen was very attentive & his sense of humor made the evening even more enjoyable !
It is always great to see old friends and to make new ones
I think the food was okay, not worth the price though for sure. It definitely had a funny funky smell going on throughout the restaurant. The server was nice though.
Carmen was our waiter and was incredible! The food was out of this world! Can’t wait to return!!
For the most part, a great place. Food was very good except for the skimpy appetizer special. Service was slightly lacking. Coffee came in a cup half full. Dessert tray was so far away we could not see it!!
Bartenders can be a little nicer. New Year's Eve can be challenging for any restaurant. But this is still one of our favorite dining places and we do intend to be back soon.
Excellent food and service! My husband and I had dinner there on New Year's Eve.
The food was delicious and the service was attentive.
We had the fried calamari appetizer, Gnocchi with lobster and crab meat special, and a seafood risotto entree. Everything was great and we topped it off with a slice of cannoli cake & coffee. We will definitely return!
The hosts, waiters and valet were very friendly and welcoming. The customer service was top notch and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend La Collina to anyone who likes authentic Italian food with an old school ambiance.
Always a nice experience both food and service .
We went the night after Christmas and they were obviously understaffed. The eggplant parm they served us was way overcooked. The waiter apologized and offered to bring a replacement. The Chicken Marsala was rubbery and the sauce was bland. The waiter apologized again but did not adjust the bill or make amends.
We’ve been here in the past and are hoping that this is an outlier.
We had a terrific Christmas Eve dinner at La Collina. It was our first time there, but definitely not our last. Two of us had the Dover Sole, one had Sea Bass, and two had pasta dishes. All were thoroughly satisfied and walked way with a smile. If you have never been, give it a try. If it has been a while, don't wait too long to return.
LIKE ALWAYS, A GREAT TIME WITH AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE A HOLIDAY THAT ISN'T RUSHED AND THE STAFF SPEND WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Unfortunately, we did have a bad experience.
My husband had the chicken parm and he said it was only warm, not hot.
The asparagus vegetable side dish was not hot either.
My husband had also ordered a salad that he did not receive. The waiter did apologize for that.
Our waiter also spilled some of our daughters lemon drop martini onto her menu when placing her drink on the table, but he didn't even make an attempt to clean it up.
My dinner was delicious as was my daughters salmon.
We also thought that the restaurant had too many tables in the room so that the waiters had trouble serving.
Food and service were great. I will definitely return.
