We enjoyed our dinner once again! Everything was delicious, full of umami goodness. We got there a few minutes early and they seated us without a problem. Give yourself a taste sensation and try everything!
The food was good and worth the price but they forgot to make our paella, a time-intensive food that they can’t really make at the end of the meal, despite confirming that we had indeed ordered it.
Would’ve liked a bit more attention but I acknowledge they were obviously understaffed
Make sure you want indoor or outdoor. We have diffuvulty to sit outside
Took nearly 30 mins until we got a drink and 45 mins until we got our first bite of food. Upon complaint, comp of dessert was all that was offered. Food was decent, but did not make up for poor service and the ambiance left some to be desired. Will not be eating here again.
The service staff was exceptional, I appreciated how knowledgeable our server was and on top of everything throughout the meal. The food was delicious as always and very timely.
This restaurant overbooks itself, and then crams people inside. We made reservations two weeks ago, and were sat near the front of the front door. Fine. Then Halfway through our meal they moved our table literally right in front of the front door. Then 10 minutes later they cram another table behind our table. There’s no social distancing going on, and the overall dining experience was not pleasant.
Service started off slow but got better pretty quickly. Fun place with a great vibe. Excellent menu and the food was pretty amazing!!!
Table was ready 15 minutes past the reservation. The sangria was just dry wine. The food was overpriced. The service did what they could due to being short staffed, and understandable because of covid. But never once was asked if our meal was ok or needed anything. I did not agree with any of the good reviews it had.
Awesome Spanish food and good service. We thoroughly enjoyed dining there. The Paella Valenciana was the real deal and Jamon Croquetas and Calamares were excellent!
I was disappointed with paella minera with seafood. The muscles and clams ver very small and the rice was dry and lacked flavor. The service and ambience were very good.
They were flexible to accommodate six of us late night and kept the kitchen open for us. Thanks
It was a great dining experience! We enjoyed our time there together.
The food is delicious. I would not eat indoor. It is a small and very crowded space. There is no vaccine requirement so it does not feel safe. They have an outdoor space which is comfortable and feels much safer. Unfortunately they do not take reservations for outside so the wait can be long. I would recommend that they make the space outside larger and take reservation or that they check people’s vaccine status for the indoor dining.
The food here is delicious and creative. The portions are excellent. Service is quite good.
The food is delicious - this visit we ordered the paella along with tapas. Unfortunately, the timing of our order was "off" and the tapas arrived much later than the paella. Didn't really affect our overall enjoyment of the food, just our eating preference (i.e. tapas first).
Each dish was a beautiful combo of taste and texture that delighted the palate. The Chicken Croquettes were the best I have ever had! I plan to go again and try every dish. Wonderful place to enjoy great food.
Beautiful and delicious tapas in a cozy and lively environment. Staff is super nice and helpful. We love going here.
Appetizers were mediocre and that's being kind. I've been here before, and it seems the staff might be new because the food seemed real bland. After awaiting our main course, paella, for over an hour. I kindly asked the status of our paella. It turns out they gave it to another table. They did offer free desserts, but I declined. I am certain I will give them a try in the future, but in the meantime, I think I am better off making my our Spanish dishes at home.
If you like tapas, this is the place to go in Berkeley! Great ambience, great service, excellent food. A tad spendy, but this is the Bay Area...
Food always tasty and consistent…it’s our favorite Spanish restaurant..service friendly and accommodating…will come again
After multiple visits to La Marcha, I have total confidence in the great food, the gracious service and the energetic ambience.
I really wanted to like this place. Last night was my third time going there with my partner. We understood that the space is small so we made a reservation for 6:15. We arrived a little early and were told it would be 5 minutes. After 15 minutes and seeing an elderly white couple being seated after just walking up to the door, my partner asked the host about our table. She totally had forgotten about us. And her attitude about it was totally nonchalant. She then asked us if we were okay with just sitting at the bar. At that point, my partner and I were so irritated and hungry, we agreed (although I wish we had not). After that, I couldn't even enjoy the food or my sangria (sidenote: our waiter was nice, he had a black baseball cap on). I don't care about sitting at the bar but I made a RESERVATION to sit at a TABLE, so it's the principle for me.
Unfortunately, the few times I've been there it seemed clear that it was a space that interested in catering more to their white clientele.
Food was good, but not great. Service was terrible. Very unprofessional and inattentive. You basically get whichever waiter happens to be near when you need something. We had 4 different waiters just for ordering. We had reservations yet had to wait in line switch the walk ups. There was no host, we just had to wait until a waiter came outside. Very modern millennial approach, like they were doing us a favor to even consider seating us and selling us dinner. I love this style food and have eaten it across the IS and Spain. This was decidedly middle of the road and uninspired.
It was busy! We found out pretty quickly the staff was overwhelmed and that staffing issues had thrown them a curveball. But coming from hospitality ourselves we know very well what the few last months have looked like for our industry. Blessed to be open but how do we make it happen?! So La Marcha made it happen by apologizing and explaining the issue at hand, waiter took our wine and food order and then all came out fantastic. As guests we have to make sure we cut every single restaurant, that is sometimes struggling a little like La March, some slack. As we decided to all go out again, we can not expect an industry that was flat on its behind to be up and running again in a heartbeat. So we enjoyed our time at the bar, had amazing food and will be back soon.
Loved La Marcha. We will be back again! The tapas were incredible and wait staff friendly and helpful. It was our first paella ever and it was delicious. Thanks for a nice evening out La Marcha staff!
Wonderful food. Service was slow. Music was way too loud.
Ribs were great as was the paella. Enjoyed the wine recommended by our waitress. Will definitely go back!
No tables were available when we arrived so we had to sit at the corner of the bar. There were not enough servers working to handle the crowd so our drinks were forgotten and the food came out slowly.
I would give them a 5 stars overall but it took them like 30 minutes to bring the appetizers. The food is outstanding. We were not in a rush but would have liked the drinks and appetizers together.
The food.. It wasn’t great. I expected a lot. The food did not have a balance of flavors. Everything was just salty. All salt. The server who was working at the bar he was great. It was too loud inside, the tables are too close to each other. It wasn’t a great experience to be spending $150. Duende in downtown oakland is way better.
They were busy and seem to be under staffed, out of some wines food was good.
What a perfect happy hour
We love eating here whenever we have a few extra dollars. The food is wonderful and the servers know their stuff and give great service and attention to us. I highly recommend this restaurant. They also have a lovely outdoor Garden space.
This was our first time at the restaurant. It was quite noisy with no soundproofing.
However, our server was very friendly and attentive. We had a number of tapas including octopus, ham croquettes, olives, stuffed peppers, and lamb sliders. All were quite good.
My only complaint is that much of the food came all at once and wasn't coursed out. So at one point my wife had two taps and I had none.
We will be back but try to negotiate the delivery pace.
Delicious sangria, tapas and paella and welcoming service. It is always a noisy place (no sound deadening materials in the decor) and our table was next to a particularly clueless individual who was very loud. Hardly the restaurant's fault but it spoils the experience somewhat.
First visit here, I enjoyed the food and found the staff very friendly!
The squid ink paella was short on seafood and very salty. We had this dish before and it was tasty. The second time it was as described above. We will not be returning.
Our server was wonderful and made some suggestions that really worked for us! Definitely coming back again and hopefully sitting in their patio area.
Terrible and rude wait staff, mediocre and overpriced food. Do not go for any special occasion, and don’t bother to make reservations, as they’ll seat walk ins before you while you wait 30 mins
