A wonderful restaurant - great food, great service, great ambiance.
Outdoor dining along Newbury on a relatively balmy November day. We loved everything we tried: La Quiche and La Cabillaud is trés délicieux!!!!
The food was very good, but the portions were small. I wish I had another leg of confit to go with my entree. Very delicious and the waiter was cool.
A great atmosphere and nice dining experience. I will return soon.
The atmosphere is phenomenal. It's quaint, quiet, romantic, European. The food is delicious. The service is also phenomenal: courteous, hospitable, knowledgeable. It's my go to restaurant - first choice, every time I want to go out. I don't mind driving from the suburbs to Boston. It's worth it!!
The best time ever. In love. The staff is incredible.
This is my favorite spot in all of Boston! It completely lets you take a break from real life to enjoy excellent food with 5 star service!!!! You’ll feel temporarily like you’ve been transported to France!!! It never disappoints!!! Their outdoor space was always perfect but even better during these times!!!
Gorgeous evening with impeccable service and exquisite food.
We had an election to celebrate and La Voile was in their usual good form – always warm welcomes, welcome advice on champagne and wine, and dinner was perfect first course through dessert. Our meals included the pea soup, mussels, foie gras, duck confit, cod, isle flotante, and chocolate mousse. Each course was delicious, fresh with bright flavor notes. The outdoor cafe is lovely and tables are generously spaced. La Voile is a Boston gem. Any restaurant can turn out the occasional great dish or good meal, but to turn out reliably delicious food, with exceptional service and a relaxed natural friendliness does not come by chance. We estimate we’ve eaten at La Voile a good bit over a hundred times and there is truly has been no off nights or meals. This is the test of a restaurant and La Voile’s professionalism makes it appear effortless and natural. Cheers to this lovely outpost of France in Boston!
We've been here before and have enjoyed it but our most recent visit was a disappointment. Our waiter was very busy but as attentive as he could be. The time between our appetizers and main meal was ridiculously long. The lamb and foie gras were very good but the ribeyes were like rubber. One of them was supposed to be medium rare and came nearly well done. The food had taken so long we didn't take it back but I wouldn't return here for awhile.
La Voile is my favorite restaruant haunt in the Back Bay, and perhaps in Boston. It is classic French bistro food, always dependably fine. The ambiance is perfect, and we are happy to find a table in what used to be a parking spot on Newbury Street. I have never had a disappointing meal there, and I've eaten there dozens of times. I was especially delighted when I went there yesterday, and they baked me a fresh baguette while I waited on the sidewalk. Then I walked home with this delicious treat still quite warm in a bag.
Alexandre Sojfer was amazing! Almost as amazing as Rory
Greatest restaurant in the USA! Like going to France every single visit.
As usual, it was wonderful.
So rich phenomenal tastes!! Great dinner
Everything was great! One small recommendation: some heating would be nice outside
The Alex's service was 6 Stars+! Love them! A fabulous intimate evening with friends and food so delicious it was worth every penny. First-time visitor in Boston would come back to Boston just to eat here (her sister is here regularly and brought her here because she loves it).
Amazing as always. Delicious food and great service
Very good food
In short, the food, atmosphere, and place was amazing. The pea soup, quiche, salad, duck, steak, creme brûlée, and Floating island were delicious and flavorful.. only small complaint was our main course took awhile to get. But was given some more cotes de rhonne while we waited. Great anniversary dinner. Would come back.
Always a pleasure eating here and one of my favorite restaurants in Boston!
Outdoor dining at LaVoile is always a treat. Great food, and good, friendly service.
My husband ordered duck, which came out rare after he asked for medium - it took about a half hour to return, at which point it was terribly overdone.
The waiter was kind enough to give my husband a glass of wine and a reduction in the total cost, but this should not happen at a well-run restaurant.
The food was very good and the service was fine. However, we were seated at a wobbly table next to a stairway; moreover, this may be the only outside dinning area in Boston that is not currently equipped with heat lamps. Also, they told us to park at the Pru ($40) and neglected to tell us that there is plenty of street parking (free starting at 8) currently on Newberry Street.
The food was excellent and pretty outdoor setting. I had duck confit with a potato gratin which was incredibly good. Our server, Nicolas, was very knowledgeable and made the experience! We’ll be back!
A weekend getaway from NYC to Boston is what brought us to this gem of a restaurant. The entire experience was amazing - hands down one of the best meals EVER!! We had the escargot and risotto for apps and for dinner we had the Dover Sole and beef tenderloin. Everything was cooked to perfection and the truffle mashed potatoes that came with the sole were out of this world!!! I can’t wait for our next trip back if only to enjoy a meal here again!
La Voile never disappoints!
Our waiter gave us water even after we paid - I was very impressed about that because he did not rush us at all, which was impressive.
Excellent service and food was superb. Highly recommend this restaurant.
As always the food was awesome!
Although etc service is always great, this time it had slipped. The waiter seemed distracted
The escargot never disappoints. Dining outside was terrific.
Cozy restaurant with a menu featuring France’s greatest hits. Worth a trip if you are in the mood for an authentic French dining experience.
I took my grandmother for her birthday, the staff was so attentive and wonderful!
Enjoyed a wonderful Saturday evening celebrating my birthday at La Voile. Hadn't been there since the start of the COVID pandemic, so was happy to see they are taking it seriously and doing what they can to keep everyone safe. The food and service are just as good as ever. I highly recommend the quiche appetizer- a leek and truffle pie served with a small green salad. Absolutely delicious! Our server (Aleksander, I believe) was gracious and efficient. I live in Boston and La Voile is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in the city. Highly recommended.
Lovely little French restaurant in such a lively neighborhood. The food is always delicious and trendy. The energy of this place is perfect for couples, families, friends. I would highly recommend.
excellent food and service. Outdoor seats in the front patio are wonderful, but the ones on the street are cramped and right by the traffic.
the waiter was very rude
La Voile has done a terrific job laying out the space to accommodate appropriate distancing, in fact, which also improves acoustics in the main dining area. I actually prefer the new layout. There are also options to eat outside in the open courtyard. The food is still delicious - authentically French but light. A FAVORITE neighborhood place for a dinner out or a special occasion>
