Alder & Oak is a wood-fired Aegean and Mediterranean restaurant in Jacksonville's Brooklyn neighborhood, inside HUB Brooklyn at 400 Riverside Avenue. Every dish is cooked without seed oils — only Iliada extra virgin olive oil from Kalamata, Greece, and grass-fed beef tallow. The kitchen runs a Mibrasa coal-fired grill and Earthstone wood-fired oven: whole grilled fish, Galician octopus, meze, coal-fired steaks, and 24-hour cold-fermented pizza. Covered courtyard dining with Jacksonville skyline views. Zorbas rooftop bar upstairs — walk-in only, cocktails and Aegean small plates, open late Friday and Saturday.     Excellent restaurant! The food is great, prepared exactly as you ask for it. The service was outstanding; they are very accommodating, attentive (but not overly) and super friendly. Their bartender is the BEST! We go there often. We were a party of six and everyone loved their meals.

    We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday at Salt. We spent our honeymoon here as well many years ago so this was the perfect place to celebrate! It has been recently updated and looks spectacular. The location, service, ambience, and food met our high expectations. They were so thoughtful as to print Happy 33rd Anniversary on our menu, brought out a plate celebrating our 2 occasions with treats, and even covered a dessert we selected from the menu. We started with oysters from New Brunswick and they were fresh and delicious. The snapper was the best I’ve ever had. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Monkfish. They certainly made us feel special. Highly recommend Salt for a special occasion or just fine dining. We look forward to our return! Well done, Chef!

    First time visiting and atmosphere was lively and food was very good. We had roasted cauliflower and the olive oil hummus appetizers. Flavors and spices were excellent, pita bread was great. Entrees included shrimp tagliatelle, Lamb Kebab and wild mushroom pasta. Ordered a side of moroccan carrots. Spices and flavors were excellent. Our serve Zoe was very helpful with meal and wine selections ad very attentive without being intrusive. Overall, great experience and will definitely return to try other menu items.

    Our dining experience was professional and friendly. Chris was our server and he did an excellent job. One of our guests was somewhat demanding especially when it came to her choosing “real” French champagne and red wines. He went above and beyond by going over to Salt restaurant and getting their wine menu to accommodate her requests. He had a great sense of humor and took everything in stride. The food was very good and I was very grateful you actually had gluten free dinner rolls. A very nice young lady by the name of Ari was also attentive to our table.
