The food was delicious! The service was great & the live jazz band was definitely the icing on the cake! This fancy place is awesome! We went for restaurant week & we were truly impressed!
We really enjoyed our meals but it was so loud we could not talk to each other. Granted we are between 71-81 years of age and were celebrating a birthday so we wanted to talk more. We will come again but before the music starts and will ask for a table in the back.
Always fabulous food and fabulous service. Just a bit too noisy for conversation, especially once the music starts. I think next time I will request a table on the side without the music, hoping it will help with the noise level.
I enjoyed the waiter and he made great food suggestions. The Mahi Mahi was awesome.
The food and service we're fantastic. We went for my husband's birthday during Restaurant week. The hostess wished him Happy birthday as we walked in the door. The waiter was very attentive and the food and portions were great. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
We tried this for restaurant week and likely to return. Lobster bisque was mediocre at best with a thin tasteless broth and no lobster in it (and this was a $5 up charge). Halibut over green chili was also lacking in flavor. Minimal wine selection and $9 for a small glass of mediocre wine. My desert was good but unfortunately my friend's tiramisu was not because it was drenching something similar to Hershey's syrup. Server was nice but somewhat inattentive but not his fault- he had too many tables. Food delivery was very slow too.
Restaurant week visit. It was all good.
Delicious, but very rich food. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the live performance.
We planned an evening out with Neighbors to celebrate the new year and decided on the date based on the entertainment venue. When asked when she would start, the waitress was vague and then when someone else started singing, I asked was she the warm up for the show and after some time the waitress came back to tell us that she would not be performing. we were also disappointed with the waitress who gave us the specials with no pricing and when asked several times she had to go check. When we asked her how many pieces were in a particular Entree she would not answer saying she couldn't say. She was also unnecessarily laud
This is our favorite late night New Years Eve dinner spot. The music food and service are always excellent. We enjoy being close to home yet out for an elegant evening. Even with a limited menu they always hit the mark. Thank you for an outstanding evening. The Laporta family is amazing.
New year celebration
Superb! Food and service excellent. Free. Parking.
Excellent meal with great jazz
Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful. That said it was extremely loud and crowded when we arrived for our 8pm reservation...better by about 8:30. Also, I called ahead about having a guest with a wheelchair but no one told me to go in the back. once we got in, your staff had to ask 3 people to get up from their meal and move chairs just to get my friend in the restaurant. We were then seated in the bar area where we couldn’t hear the jazz. Food was excellent and we had an enjoyable time overall.
The food and service was great. Also they have live music every day.
The food was way over priced, portions were extremely small and the food quality was poor. Not worth the money.
One of my favorites! Wonderful to have pianist playing Christmas music that night as well.
Birthday brunch before concert at the Masonic Temple.
As is usually the case, we had a delightful dinner. Food was excellent and the service was terrific. We will continue to spend special events there.
Live music was too loud. When asked to turn it down the band didn’t. Waitress was great and food was good.
Great food and good wine!
Made reservation indicating birthday celebration. No acknowledgement was given.
Thanksgiving dinner was special, well proportioned and tasty. Fankie, our server was very friendly and attentive. We will be back.
Have been to Laporta's several times. Food is always good. If you arrive 7PM+ is always a good time to hear some music. Monday and Tuesday are the best days to visit, because of their entrees and bottle of wine for $30.
Ian our waiter was fantastic. Really made the night special.
Great as always, a neighborhood favorite for us. We can always count on consistently good food and service when entertaining out of town guests. The music is good but we can still carry on conversation. Thank you Laporta's!
Reliable go-to restaurant with consistently good food, stellar service and enjoyable live entertainment.
A hidden gem in the DMV! Well worth the trek into VA. After two dining experiences, I have not been disappointed!
Went out for date night and specifically wanted to hear some live music. We got there a little early, and although there were clearly many empty tables, we were told to wait in the bar until they could seat us. About 10 minutes later we sat at a table that was open when we first got there, and I was worried being very close to the band that it might be too loud. The music level was fine throughout the room and we could have a normal conversation with no trouble. The pre-meal bread was pretty plain, but we ordered two of the specials and they were fantastic. 2 specials, 2 glasses of wine was about $100, right in line with what I expected. Desserts looked fantastic, but the entrees were enough. Great place, make reservations and enjoy.
It had been years since I had been at Laporta. I read reviews and decided to go there for a birthday dinner. We had a great time. Our server was very friendly and explained items on the menu in great detail. He was very knowledgeable about food, drinks, specials, etc. He was attentive and food arrived fast. Our food was great and one of the persons in my group requested a change in the sauce on his meal. He loved it and he's normally very picky about his food. Everything was well presented and delicious. I won't let it be so long before I return.
Prior to leaving the Alexandra area Laporta’s was always one of our “go-to” restaurants. Whenever we come back and need to entertain we always choose Laporta’s. The menu is varied and everyone can find something they will enjoy. Sometimes I think our family only wants us to come back so we’ll take them all to Laporta’s
The food and ambiance are always good here. Where else can you find jazz, eats and drinks every night of the week!
There must have been a lack of bar personnel last time we went. We didn’t get our drinks for over 20 minutes and one of them was incorrect. Everyone is entitled to a struggling night once in a while.
The jazz trio was excellent on Saturday night.
We always enjoy Laporta’s. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful!
The food was good, but average. My wife’s chicken wasn’t very hot, and my trout was a little mushy, so I assume it was slightly overcooked.
Great jazz trio Friday nights
Had the special but it made me sick afterwards.
Thank you to the Chef, Nina, Margaret and the entire team. Sunday brunch was delish. Introduced a friend to the restaurant. She enjoyed the dining experience. We had Quinoa Salad and the Frittata. I also picked up Margaret's Godiva Chocolate mousse cake to take home for my hubby.
You must save room for dessert when you go to Laporta's!
Much too noisy. When I made the reservations I was promised our party would not be near the music, that we'd be in the rear of the dining room. The dining room rear, unfortunately, is not very far from the music. We had guests with whom we wanted to have a nice conversation, people we had not seen in many years, and it made talking and listening quite difficult. This is a quite expensive restaurant, I would say, and should be able to honor its word to provide the ambiance one wants, especially after telling the customer that they would do so. Since we were seated and started on ordering before the music started, we had no idea it would be so bad. Other than that, everything was wonderful. But this is not a place to enjoy talking to people, in my opinion.
We have been going to Laporta's for several years, and will keep going for its reliably good food, service and music (without a cover charge!) It offers Italian comfort food -- healthy, too! -- at a reasonable price. We often find that the early evening crowd is too loud for good listening, but that usually changes after 9PM or so. Well-prepared, tasty ravioli and trout dishes, and always good desserts.
