L'Auberge Chez Francois
Rack of Lamb
with herbs de provence, vegetables, thyme sauce (for one or two)
sauted with toasted almonds
We knew this was the place to break our restaurant 'fast'. The outside terrace, completely covered by an open-sided tent, was very pleasant even on a hot day. Tables were spaced far apart and we felt very comfortable. Service, as always, was outstanding. L'Auberge turns even an ordinary lunch with friends into a very special occasion. Merci!
What a joy to return to the re-opened, if socially distanced, L'Auberge Chez Francois! From the mushroom crepes to the trout almondine, from the salmon three ways to the tournadoes of beef, we've longed to savor these among our favorite meals and they were as delicious as remembered! (And of course, the little lagniappes, including the addictive garlic toasts and the tart and creamy palate cleansing lemon sorbet delighted our palates and made us smile and feel all was still as it should be at L'Auberge.) The only thing we missed? Sharing the space with more happy guests celebrating special occasions! We look forward to when they can join us again in filling up this beautiful space.
The restaurant had only recently reopened but the experience was almost the same as usual, despite the spaced-out tables and masked wait staff. They had installed a very large tent outside to accommodate the extra table spacing.
We were inside because it was a very hot day. However, there were several others outside. Our reservations were for 5:45 p.m.
Always a great choice for a meal on the patio. But I'd probably go to Jacques Brasserie next time for lunch.
We went there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary - it was wonderful! We enjoyed ourselves completely! Service was perfect, great wine and great meal.
What a wonderful evening dining on the Chez Francois patio. It felt so good to be back enjoying the delicious food, the exceptional service and the beautiful scenery.
It is the place we celebrate our anniversaries with another couple. That got postponed due to the Covd-19, but the service is excellent and even more so this time. The staff seemed genuinely glad to see us. The food also was excellent, but it is service that makes the overall evening outstanding.
The same wonderful restaurant it has been for more than 60 years!
Our first restaurant dining experience since the quarantine. We were welcome at the door like old friends coming home after a holiday. Ambiance & service were excellent. We recognized some faces behind the mask including Jacques who waved between courses. Desserts are outstanding but my “little campers in garlic” (snails) brought back great memories. Merci K&B
We miss the foods when the father, Monsieur Francois, was the master Chef .
Delicious food and great service!
Outstanding, simply outstanding in every way.
Outstanding modifications to outside dining due to Covid. Could not have been more comfortable.
L'Auberge has recovered from the Corona Virus food and service restrictions to a large decree. The food quality is good again, although the menu is still somewhat restricted. Outdoors they now have a big tent, which is open on the sides. The wine menu is back to normal, which means excellent.
The management and staff have done a wonderful job re-opening in a way that makes you feel comfortable and safe. We dined inside due to thunderstorms. Lovely evening.
We often visit L'Auberge for special occasions. Today was my wife's 85th birthday. Despite the restrictions caused by the coronavirus, the wait staff was very attentive and the table spacing was sufficient to provide social distancing separation.
As usual, the food was outstanding although the usual small glass of wine has disappeared as part of the fixed price luncheon menu. Not a big thing, but a recognition that things are gradually changing.
We look forward to a return visit in August to celebrate our anniversary. If we can find friends or relatives to share the event, we surely will.
One of the great experiences in life that is highly recommended
We are sooo glad that L'Auberge has reopened, as the patio seating always transports us to France somewhere for a couple of hours. The outstanding quality and service is as we remember --before the pandemic!! Thank you to all the staff!!
We hadn’t been to a restaurant in 3 months, but we wanted to celebrate our anniversary. As always, L’Auberge was superb! We felt safe with other tables at a good distance, and the waiters wore masks and gloves. The food is as spectacular as ever in a beautiful setting.
This is our favorite restaurant in the entire Washington DC area and has been for many years. We are anxiously waiting the reopening we just occurred. Our dining experience was great. The dinner portions were more than adequate And the quality of the food was impeccable. This restaurant will never disappoint and is Where you want to hold a very important event such as an anniversary or birthday or engagement. We give this restaurant five stars.
So happy to be back at our favorite place. Great safety precautions utilized. The food was as fabulous as ever. We loved the special blueberry tart with homemade cinnamon ice cream. Service was close to perfect. Eric did a wonderful job. Sitting on the patio on a gorgeous day was the ideal complement to a fantastic dining experience. The entire team made sure we felt pampered and safe.
As good as before Convid-19. All necessary steps taken.
This is a wonderful restaurant to go to, particularly to celebrate important events and when you can sit outside and enjoy the garden and ambience. We always go here for birthdays and our anniversaries and are never disappointed.
Lovely outdoor tented area with tables spaced apart for social distancing. All staff were wearing masks and kept their distance as much as possible. Paper/disposable menus. Waiting area inside did get a bit close, but our name was called as we were heading outside to wait. A few items were already sold out when we arrived and the menu was more limited than usual, but many of our favorites were available - we all enjoyed our selections and can't wait to return!
Everything about L'Auberge Chez Francois is exceptional! We were seated upon arrival and the restaurant is taking great care to ensure cleanliness and is very careful about social distancing and observing all of the current safety requirements. The food was wonderful, Chef Jacques stopped by to visit with us, from a distance of course, and we could not have been more pleased. Service was excellent and everyone is especially warm and friendly. We had a 6:45 PM reservation and arrived right on time, but stayed until around 10:00 PM as we were having such a lovely evening. We'll be back soon!
Always a wonderful experience to dine here, but now it was as good as going on a week long vacation! After being at home due to the COVID-19 precautions for 3 months, it was such a treat to be at L'Auberge Chez Francois. We ate on their patio under a huge tent criss-crossed with lights, small fans blowing a light breeze. Tables were about 12' apart, making us feel 100% safe. The waiters all wore face masks and gloves and brought our silverware and paper menus after we were seated. The food of course was perfection as usual - I had the lobster and crab, my husband and son-in-law had the Chateaubriand - but honestly it was the atmosphere that let us relax that really made the evening!
Always perfect. They were able to provide the same excellent service and food as always even with the covid-19 restrictions.
As always perfect dining experience, food was delicious, not rushed, menu was somewhat limited, like most of the restaurants just opening, but ample choices.
Waiter was delightful, relaxed any fears we had of our first dining in experience during the pandemic. The waiter wore mask and was considerate of social distancing.
We both ordered the lobster special, our favorite, was amazing as expected. Look forward to returning again soon.
We are outside and it was lovely. The food was great!
It was the perfect night. We ate outside under a large tent with festive lights and a cool fan. The tables were far apart and large for a small group of 3. I felt very comfortable eating there even during a pandemic! It was the perfect way to celebrate Father's Day!
I have been to L'Auberge Chez Francois many times over the past 20 years. I believe it just gets better every time. Not sure how that is possible since I rate it a 10 every time. The food is amazing and the staff are top notch!
Our experience was wonderful!! Food and service could not be beat!
Food not up to par, salad mediocre only some wilted greens no tomato, ran out of mussels for appetizer and our reservation was 12 noon you were only open 1/2 hour. Veal was very tough. Waiter not attentive with drinks
L'Auberge Chez Francois hasn't missed a beat with their successful re-opening. We tried the Sunday brunch menu which has a wonderful selection of appetizers (including oysters), a wide array of main courses (I'd recommend the veal with Virginia ham) and an ample selection of desserts and the best Cheesecake I've ever had. The service is always spot on and the indoor and outdoor seating is very comfortable and a great get away for a Sunday afternoon.
L'Auberge Chez Francois has been our family's most favorite dining experience ever. We have gone there for many years for ALL occasions. The food and ambiance is incredible. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
So glad they are open and made it through the coronavirus shutdown. Food and service above all are still great and it's always an experience, whether grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying dinner over several hours.
As good as always despite the difficulty of Covid!
We LOVE L'Auberge Chez Francois and have been going there for over 20 years. Every single time we go the food, service, atmosphere is absolutely perfect. As soon as they re-opened we went and ate outdoors. Everyone there is 100% careful with face masks, social distancing and all efforts to keep everyone safe. They have a large tent with cooling fans for those who want to eat outdoors, beautiful gardens, flowers to see. We will go back next month for sure.
