Le Cafe du Marche
La Cote de Boeuf
sauce béarnaise (for two people, £12 supplement)
La Soupe de Poisson
gruyère, croutons and rouille
Almond and Apricot Tart
A traditional French meal, served quickly to ensure that we were finished at a time we had advised we needed to depart.
We had an hour for pre-theatre supper. Our waiter steered us through two courses cheerfully and confidentiality. The food was excellent and we could relax rather than worry about leaving in time.
A very pleasant relaxed meal in sympathetic surroundings
Both main courses of lamb & duck over cooked, staff tolled,no apologe given or replacement offed.
The Cafe du Marche is an old favourite and is just as good today as it was 20 years ago. It has had a revamp and there are now more tables but the food, which is very French, is as delicious as ever, and there is a good choice of wines. Most restaurants have put up their prices since Covid but the Cafe du Marche offers fantastic value for money - particularly the Prix Fixe menu - just £34 for two course and a wide choice. I thoroughly recommend it.
The restaurant is like an old friend, well worth revisiting.
Reasonable value for good food.
We were going on to the theatre and so needed a quick turn around, The staff were brilliant and the food and drink delicious. Would highly recommend.
This is a charming place for a relatively quiet lunch near the City and with a relaxed bistro ambience.
3 course lunch offer is a good choice for all courses.
Wine very palatable but less good value.
Helpful, friendly service
What a lovely restaurant. Superb front of house service and truly impressive food. An innovative approach to snails to start followed by rabbit
We ate before going to a show at the Barbican. Arriving at 6 we only had time for 2 courses and had to chase for the bill as service was leisurely, so beware if you have a deadline. However, staff were all friendly, food was excellent and ambiance was great. I would definitely go back.
We have been going to this restaurant for over thirty years and it still delivers, every time. Love it.
Such a great place. We had never been before and needed somewhere to go after attending an event nearby. Fabulous food and wine and service. Would definitely go again.
It is the kind of place that you want to keep to yourself so that when you visit this hidden gem it is not bustling with people. Who doesn’t like this lovely French restaurant. Great food, friendly staff, live piano music. Def 5 stars.
Huge thanks to the concierge team who notified us about about my mobile phone being left behind.
Excellent meal and wines. Service excellent and good value. Will certainly recommend and return
Just perfect, the ambience, service, team and most importantly the food.
It was lovely to be back in a restaurant with other people! The ambience and food were fantastic and excellent value for money. I would just say that the waiter's reaction to two requests made by one of my guest's was extremely rude. Sometimes a customer needs a little guidance on the cooking of a steak or be told that unfortunately skimmed milk isn't an option. That can easily be done without barking.... However, I appreciate that the restaurant industry needs our support, so don't be put off!
Thank you so much. A lovely evening that we will always remember
Everything was very good apart from the poisson soup which was OK. I particularly enjoyed the live music and the stake.
I love this restaurant the staff are amazing the ambiance is very chilled and laid back. It is the perfect place to chill out with friends
An absolutely wonderful restaurant with a traditional French menu which is the best of its kind. It’s certainly not cheap but your experience includes a terrific jazz duo playing standards. All in all a great atmosphere - & we’ll certainly go back for more after lock down.
Fantastic reference. Service superb, attentive and warm. Food outstanding. Excellent wines. Brilliant value for money.
It was our first time here and it was truly lovely to eat at Le Cafe du Marche. It is indeed, the friendly neighbourhood restaurant that you can visit every other weekend. They had live music (piano and cello) at night and the food was amazing. We ordered the 3-course menu and took the La cote boeuf (for 2 to share) and it was very tasty. Will come again to try the pheasant dish next time.
Absolutely adore this restaurant - brilliant food, wonderful ambience with pianist. One of our favourite restaurants in london and we will definitely be returning!
A true gem of a French bistro tucked away in a mews off Charterhouse Square. Oozing with warmth and ambience.
We had a very nice meal. Top quality food and wine. I will definitely come back!
This restaurant is our new "local" and we could not be more delighted - it is perfect in every way for cosy suppers a deux or in a small group. Live pianist the evening we were there was an added bonus. Can't wait to go again.
Consistently very good here, classic dishes and professional service.
this is just the restaurant everyone wants as their local; lovely food, comfortable service, great ambiance, piano music setting the customers with a feeling of wellbeing. From kir to coffee it's a delight. only gripe is that the truffles could be less sweet to be perfect!
Keep going back as the food never disappoints and the service is good so you can’t go wrong for a nice dinner out
Lovely place. Cant fault the food, the venue or the staff. And you get some jazz thrown in.
A real favourite with consistently great food, beautiful setting and warm welcome.
Wonderful Cote de Boeuf, great wine and live piano/bass jazz - felt almost like pre-lockdown halcyon days!
Always like going but thought was very expensive on the wine front !
Food under seasoned. Wine good. Service good. Only three tables in the room we were sat in. Reasonable decor.
Always a pleasure
Great staff, and the atmosphere and food were excellent. The duck was amazing, recommend this dish. The live jazz makes this place really special.
One of my favourite restaurants in London and so good to see it back open. Excellent food and wonderful service. It felt a perfectly safe venue to dine at and the unobtrusive COVID secure measures made the evening feel like a welcome slice of normality
A fantastic experience as always. This remains a wonderful restaurant. Our food was first rate and the wine list is reasonable. Add to that the great staff and service and you have a perfect combination.
Absolutely superb, great food and service, thought I was in a bistro in France lovely ambience and outstanding tasty food. The starter of burrata, lovely flavours, guinea fowl, could not fault the dish. The apricot tart, had very crisp pastry and was divine. A great restaurant to share with friends and family. Felt safe inside as well as all staff wore masks and we wore masks if moving from our table. Would higly recommend.
