Outdoor tables were warmed by heaters. Mussels were tasty!

Loved the ambiance and the overall open kitchen concept. Unfortunately the food and drinks were subpar to me. The menu sounded so delicious but we had the mussels that usually would have a flavorful broth and it tasted very bland. Then for entrees we had the chicken confit and the whole wheat bolognese. Chicken was very over salted but only on the outside and the chicken itself had no taste. The bolognese just was like regular pasta and sauce. So disappointed since everything sounded so delicious on the menu.

The local 188 delivered a superb experience. Delectable food with a warm inviting (heat lamp -supported) atmosphere. Great location and really friendly people. Don’t miss this place. We will be back!

The outdoor heater really helped. And we wore our coats, etc. The food was delicious - lots of comfort food dishes to choose from.

The best spot for low key hangs, great food and service, and the best bloodies anywhere. Also, I never thought much about English muffins until I had one there. The breads are fantastic.

We’ve gone almost once a week while the weather is still patio compliant and get a bottle of red and split the seafood paella. It’s exceptional every time and the waitstaff is always friendly and helpful. The patio is very clean and spatially distant and they even bring out big heaters when it starts to get dark out which I guess means my patio paella adventures have been extended at least another couple of weeks.

They should have indoor/outdoor reservation option, not expect customers to know to place a note. We had to beg for heaters to be brought outside. Hostess was just annoyed with everyone that walked in. Food was good, but 2 dishes were on the bland side.

Outstanding food and table service. The outdoor heaters did not work since they were out of propane. We were very very cold. I am surprised that Resto’s trying to stay relevant during Covid at 48 degree f don’t have enough propane ....

Great good, great atmosphere! We had the mussels to start, then the seafood paella, and finished the night with delicious carrot cake! The atmosphere inside was a much better vibe than outside, quieter and much more intimate

I found it ironic that the server asked my fiancé and I to put on our mask when she approached the table. She then attended to the adjacent table and didn’t ask them to put on their mask. A party of four was then seated and she did not ask them to put on a mask when she approached them. I don’t believe it is the State’s guidance to wear a mask once seated. I feel that if the server feels threatened by Covid, she should seek another profession. I found it disrespectful to ask my party to wear a mask and not some of the other tables. We are healthy people showing no signs of Covid infection.
The food was excellent, so kudos to the chef. I’m not sure if I would go back anytime soon because of the service.

Unfortunately our seating was outdoors which took away from overall quality. Cheese plater and seafood paella were both very good.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere from start to finish--even outdoors in the time of COVID. Can't wait to return!

Outside on a busy street there were people getting off the bus and walking right around you without masks doesn’t help a dining experience. No lighting and it was dark so you can’t see your food. When I saw outdoor dining only I assumed a back patio.

What I ate was tasty but I need to see it.

Kendall was our server and was very attentive and made us feel very comfortable. The restaurant has seating out front on the street and for dinner in the blocked off driveway next to the building. Staff and diners were all following COVID protocols. The food and presentation was amazing. My wife and I shared a salad, risotto, and the chicken confit. We needed some guidance from Kendall on the portion sizes but were very happy with what we ordered. We liked it so much we went back for breakfast the next morning! Highly recommended.

I had the New York strip steak and it was cooked to perfection as well as the house salad and hummus plate which also didn’t disappoint. I had a great Tito’s and soda as simple as that drink sounds it was perfectly balanced between the ice and the soda to not end up to week or overpowering. Our waitress did a great job and was very friendly and gave great opinions of the menu. Definitely will be back again.

Service was impeccable, drinks were delicious and the outdoor seating felt exclusive. Loved it!

The food was pretty disappointing, especially for the price. The “patio” is an alley, which is fine taking into account the pandemic but it could be described more accurately.

There was a little bit of an issue but the staff immediately took care of professionally and effectively.

Highly recommend the shrimp pinchos and chocolate mousse!!

great place, we were staying in the general area and decided to try it out. The service and food were awesome, and we sat outside which was a great evening. Cars going back and forth were a little loud, but that's what you get when you eat on the sidewalk! no complaints, awesome place!!

Sea food paella, very good. Outside seating only next to very busy street though.

We always love eating here. Tonight we were looking forward to their Maine Restaurant Week special and they were out at 7:30. We still enjoyed wonderful good, but I was very disappointed.

We ate there for Maine Restaurant Week but their prix fix menu was only for meat eaters with no alternatives which was disappointing. We ate from the regular menu. It was ok. Seafood Paella was ok. Not fantastic. Music was much too loud.

Excellent meal at Local 188 on Saturday. Fantastic service, yummy food and great wine list. Loved the mushroom mousse dish - so creative, not to mention pretty! Steak was cook perfectly and was great to share after having tried several of the smaller dishes. Will definitely return to this spot in the future!

Ordered the roasted beet risotto, beet were barely cooked, I could barely get my fork through them. The risotto was tough, and the dish was very soupy. Service was mediocre. It took a while to see our waitress and when she was there she lacked energy and friendliness. Restaurant was very quiet, so food did arrive timely.
I only gave three stars because I’ve enjoyed this restaurant so much in the past. I didn’t let the waitress know that my food was poorly done, because she wasn’t back until we had finished eating, and never asked how the food was. I would still recommend this restaurant because I’ve had great meals here in the past.

Great food for the value, many small plate options and great cocktails. It is the perfect choice for foodies looking for casual fine dining.

Nice room. Tapas style. We had: clam stew / just ok, livers/ good, grilled shrimp / excellent, mussels/ outstanding, pork belly / outstanding, arugula & duck egg salad / just ok, banana bread dessert / good. Reasonably priced. Good service.

Always great! Good food and drinks, great service, and they are accommodating of my gluten intolerance.

The food here is very good, with very high-quality ingredients. I do, however, think it's extremely overpriced for what you get. For example, $13 for 2 lamb ravioli. Our waitress was very nice, however, the hostess seemed angry and hardly communicated with us.

Fantastic service. Very solid food. A tiny bit dark at dinner. The bread is amazing.

We as a group were not impressed with our meals. Paella was not traditional and the rice was sticky and the sauce was congealed. The portions were not even amongst similar meals. Overall, was underwhelmed even though they did provide us with a percentage off of our meals. I was really looking forward to trying 188, but was very disappointed.

Love it here, very warm and friendly with great food and service.

The waitstaff was friendly, engaging and professionally relaxed but our meals were under spiced. We expected more mouth watering tastes, but what we got were under whelming but palatable dishes. In particular, the liver tapas dish needs a complete reworking...the livers were swimming in a tasteless sea of brown gravy. The expensive 3 deviled egg halves were nothing special at all. Our Spanish style tortilla had not a speck of the advertised spinach in the dish and was filling but bland. The mushroom selection and pork chop were the stars of the evening. Skip dessert altogether.
