Love and Salt
We eat at Love & Salt every time we have to take someone to or pick someone up from the LAX Airport since they're so close. Love this place! Food is always delicious. Service always great. It was on the quiet side Friday night because of Coronavirus. It was pretty much the last night you could eat in a restaurant. Highly recommend!
Great food and service.
I generally love the food at Love and Salt. During this visit I was quite disappointed in the toasted Cauliflower. It seemed almost raw and lacked flavor. Would not recommend it.
I like the ambience of the restaurant but the seating is sooo close that nearby conversations were quite disruptive. I could hear every word. And I could not get out of my seat without bumping the person behind me. That feels too close. Our chairs had approximately 2 inches from the back of one to the other.
Great inventive and classic cocktails with full bar, pasta was served undercooked although usually it is perfect. Pizza is good - served with thicker wood oven style fluffier crust. Meats are great quality. Appetizer list has something for everyone. Favorite dinner dishes - meatballs (served with bread and great sauce), both squashes (the kabocha is more of a cheese dish), mussels, steak, bolognese (pasta), pappardelle (pasta), Creste Di Gallo Midollo, Krikorian South (pizza - my favorite), Duck Egg (pizza). Favorite drinks = High Tea, Hachiya, Comeback Kid, Lady in the ballroom (refreshing), Yokohama Silk, Jimmy Conway.
Had brunch with a friend and although I found the restaurant to be loud, the food more than made up for it. The pancake with pear butter was delicious and my favorite!
Menu online said gluten free options and when we got there they handed us a normal menu that basically 'X' out all of the items that had gluten and then said 'No Toast' on a few items. Because I can't do gluten, that provided VERY limited options. Misleading that online it says gluten free options available. That normally means that there is a menu of provided options not just everything on the menu without gluten or the very few options available.
Also, for people with dietary restrcitions it was a joke since couldn't edit ANY item on the menu. For example, my friend has a severe allergy to onions/shallots - since no dressing substitute had no shallots this provided pretty much no option to eat much. We both (I with gluten allergy and her with gluten and onion allergy) left super hungry.
The food was fabulous but the noise level was so painful that we will NEVER return.
Though we really like the food, the noise level is getting worse and we will have second thoughts about returning.
Meat heavy with not too many great main options for vegetarian or vegan. Food felt a bit heavy or overly flavored. Great service & attention.
Love & Salt is always fantastic. Food, service, and ambiance never disappoint. Note that at prime time the noise levels can get high, but not so much that it's a deal-breaker. The roasted chicken with grilled bread is perfect. The kale salad, meatballs, any pizza and the pasta with bone marrow is not to be believed!
Delicious, different food. Never thought chicken could taste so good! Yummy Nutella beignet.
The place is very nice. Beautiful people and ambiance. The food was quite disappointing. Extremely small plate and the taste was not good at all.
We loved the pizza and pasta
Wine was good but too expensive for the glass I guess it’s Manhattan beach so they charge nyc prices
Love going here because the food is fantastic and the staff are super!
Service is always good. I typically like the food, but they recently changed the menu - it was ok.
Absolutely minuscule pasta portions. Horrible value.
Food was fantastic. Ambiance at brunch was upbeat but also much calmer than in the evening. Seating was comfortable. Server was attentive but not overbearing and very sweet with our kids. We have a 7 and 5 year old, and they really liked the food and were quite happy throughout the meal. Drinks are also a standout, especially the Yokohama Silk.
Very loud , tables to close together , food ok,wine over priced . Don’t think we’ll be back.
Quite disappointing. Noise level extremely uncomfortable, not energetic. Food poor, fair at best. Seafood pasta dish lacked fish as stated on menu and muscles/clams barely fresh. Butternut squash appetizer did not come close to servers recommendation. And octopus appetizer marginal. Rum raisin pudding dessert Wes excellent.
The food is SO GOOD. Server was amazing. The appetizers came out quickly but then it was 20-30 minutes before the main course so that was a little rough but hopefully that’s not a normal thing. Even if it is the food is totally worth it and somehow the bill seemed very reasonable at the end!
Love this restaurant! The food is amazing and the service is great!
Great place for a meal where you want to be able to hear over the din of the music and crowd, and enjoy delicious food.
I believe this is now one of my new favorite restaurants in South Bay. It’s the perfect overrall restaurant....not too flashy or overly stuffy, good food and friendly staff. Nash the restaurant manager was on top of it all and we loved and appreciated the amazing service the staff provided.
Loud. Food came out at four different times for four people at the same table. C’mon, why go to dinner if we eat at different times ? Overpriced.
Every bite was delicious! Can’t wait to return💛 The Boise level could be lower to make it more comfortable, the service was lovely, and they helped make my mom’s occasion special. I’ll be back! :)
The food was good, really great vibe in the restaurant!
Wonderful restaurant with delicious food and great service! Felt crowded and claustrophobic at the beginning of the meal but felt more comfortable when the tears cleared out. Also not sure why there are TVs, might have a better feel
If the TVs were removed.
Travis took excellent care of us, made excellent recommendations and provided superior service. The food was excellent. Our favorite was the persimmon and prosciutto dish.
For a chef dinner, the experience was underwhelming. The food was overly salty, portions were massive, and service rushed. It was a big disappointment.
Unfortunately, our experience with the Nancy Silverton Guest Chef dinner was very disappointing. The service was extremely slow. We waited approximately 40 minutes to be served our first course. Third course, another 20 minutes. Two managers and our server apologized but service did not improve. Third course was not edible and dessert, extremely disappointing. Also, on another note, when a Guest Chef comes, it would be nice if they came out and said hello to the people who came to see them.
amazing meal - but a little loud... still, this will be a stop on subsequent visits to MB!
Great experience with food and service! The restaurant was so loud could not hear the person across the table from me.
Great food, great service! What more can you ask for?
Love and Salt is my favorite restaurant in downtown Manhattan Beach. They just get it. From management to staff, their customer service is stellar. The food is outstanding...don't miss the meatballs, my favorite. The cocktails are high-end, with the best Old Fashioned in town. Cheers!
Food was delicious! The cauliflower was a disappointment - didn't seem fully cooked. LOVED the broccoli, the burrata, and the pappardelle pasta. Oh and the nutella donut was to die for - a little heavy but super yummy.
Our server, while sweet and ambitious, was WAY TOO TALKATIVE. We're not idiots we can read a menu, and we didn't ask for all your recommendations. She literally described and listed off almost every item as a recommendation and we had just sat down. Just annoying. But - still nice, doing her job, i get it.
Great food and amazing service! Been there a few times. My favorites are the branzino, the burrata, bone marrow pasta, freekehlicious salad, brisket hash (brunch menu). Haven't had but would love to try the lamb osso bucco - next time. Excellent service and made my birthday brunch super special. Love the people and atmosphere. Definitely will be back.
Hard to rave about chicken but the the dish here is outstanding. Also very good octopus salad. Only negative was the very high noise level - checked it on an app it got as high as 90db! Be prepared to be yell at your companions!
We went here for my boyfriends birthday and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our server was amazing and super friendly, our food was incredible and they even gave us a complementary birthday dessert. We will definitely be recommending Love & Salt to our friends.
Underwhelmed. Have walked by many times and always seemed packed with with a positive energy. Despite the mixed reviews my husband decided to try it one evening for a date night. For a $25 corking fee we brought our own wine. Since we had reservations we were set right away. Restaurant was packed and tables/chairs placed maybe 8-10 inches apart from the next . We had to hold our bottle of wine and glasses each time someone walked past. The music was way too loud and the acoustics were awful we couldn’t event talk across the table. The food flavor was only so so and both pasta entrees were brought out cold. The only redeeming quality is that the service was great! We were in and out in under an hour. Wont be back.
