Lucky Rooster Kitchen + Bar

Way overpriced, service was sassy.
We have eaten here several times, and we generally pleased. Our last experience on June 20th, was the opposite of that. Very limited menu, of which we were unaware when we booked, the service was extremely poor - had to ask multiple timed for things - and very slow considering the limited menu and not being crowded. It took about 20 minutes to get our drinks and nearly an hour to get our food.
All staff wore masks and most gloves. They showed concern about Covid.
Always enjoy a meal and cocktails there. Our favorite spot for date night or with friends.
We’d come last summer on our last day in HHI and we’re blown away by the high quality food, drinks and service. This year we had high expectations and they met every one of them. The outdoor dining area is great, the service is attentive and the food was incredible. Solid kids menu as well. Also they are taking COVID precautions very seriously which was comforting. This is a must-try spot and one we cannot wait to return to on our next visit.
On vacation and met friends for dinner. They were flexible to seat families together
Great spot. Prices were reasonable. Kid friendly and service was excellent (Genesis was our waitress)
Good food . Service was amazing. Spirits list also exceptional.
Excellent meal to celebrate our anniversary. Staff was outstanding and food was delicious. They showed extreme caution - all staff had on masks and I loved their no-touch menu.
Outside speakers too loud. Everything else was great.
Wonderful food and service. 10/10
Can't beat the delicious cuisine. Sat outside under new patio. Unfortunately the fans were so noisy and their wasn't enough soft plantings to buffer. Hard to talk even right next to us. Service and food fab though.
Food was amazing. Highly recommend! My kids even loved the jalapeño cornbread. The texture and taste were fantastic.
Wonderful food outside. We all ate something different, from fish to fried chicken, pasta and steak. Everything was delicious!
The fried green tomatoes were delicious, as well as the striped bass entree. The roast chicken was a little dry - should have ordered the fried chicken! The service was outstanding!
Interesting experience, saved by the chefs humility and integrity. Our server struggled, gave incorrect info on dishes and pricing. Was told the whole fish and grits was yellowtail snapper for 28 it ended up being red snapper at 36. I ordered the octopus small plate and it was horribly overcooked and dry, the chef personally came out and apologized for the dish, engaged in conversation and provided the chicken liver mousse to try. The chicken liver, striped bass and red snapper were all excellent. Waiter said octopus was taken off of the bill but it wasn't. We didn't notice until after paying the bill. Cocktails were good, very large bourbon selection but prices are outrageous. A 2 oz pour ($52) of weller 12 costs more than the whole bottle retails for.
Good food better people
The food was fantastic, the staff professional and attentive.
Aside from my shrimp being slightly overdone the food and service was very good.
The LuckyRooster never disappoints. Without doubt the service, food, and bar is the beat there is. We are lucky to have the Rooster on the Island.
We are new residences of HHI and we have found our go to place! The extensive bar menu has amazing mixed cocktails. We had the cornbread and mussels to start. Large portions and made excellent. The quality and care put into this menu is second to none. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner Clayton and understand the absolute Love thats poured into this restaurant. We will be regulars!
We had a reservation for 5 people at 7:30 that we had to reserve with a credit card and $25 per person($125 total) if we didn’t cancel within 24 hours. This was completely acceptable to us but it did set the bar high for our expectations. It’s a beautiful dining space. We had to eat about 20 minutes for our table and had a drink in the bar - this was fine too. The drinks were great the hostess and bartender with both great. The meal was a different story. They were out of both the catch of the day and the scallops - then I ordered a glass of rose - they were out of that too! It clearly wasn’t my day here. The waiter was either new or very disinterested. And never suggested an alternative for any of the options. When we ordered cocktails- we needed to ask our waiter for them a 2nd time for them as we could see them sitting at the bar. He said they were swamped- the restaurant wasn’t even near 1/2 full We ordered grits with our meal that never came. Three people had the fried chicken and they were very happy with their meal. The other 2 meals were fair. Again - all of this would have been a bit more acceptable if we we not expected and didn’t have to place our reservation on a credit card. I know this place gets great reviews and it seemed like a place that we’d normally enjoy but the overall experience wasn’t up to the expectations last week. Maybe it was a slow return to opening during Covid? But again - cute spot, the bartender and hostess were great just the waiter and 1/2 of the food were lacking. I hate to give a mediocre review but it was a miss for us.
Awesome drinks and entrees - Wide selection on menu of seafood and beef preps. Had Catfish, shrimp and oysters, over risotto. Perfect!
The food was of top quality and at a fair price. We (a party of 4) had octopus appetizer, the trout, sea bass, pork rage and fried chicken for entrees, and warm brownie/ice cream and lemon pie for dessert- all were delicious. (I especially loved the trout.) The owner came around the dining room, making sure that his customers were happy- and we all were. The waitstaff was very helpful, able to answer any questions about items on the menu, and was very conscientious and professional. We ate on the patio and it was lovely- quiet and relaxed. A wonderful restaurant!
Brunch is an exceptional addition to the Lucky Rooster repertoire. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the cornmeal pancake stack, eggs benedict, shrimp and grits, salad and pastries. Each item was well conceived, expertly prepared and pleasantly presented. Well placed seating, masked staff and obvious health consciousness established a comfortable environment for our group. We'll be back.
Best brunch food I’ve had in a looooong time. Will be back soon!
Great experience, would love to visit again
Food was cold. Portions were small and very expensive. Manager got defensive and rude. We would not return.
A nice find! Good bar, friendly and attentive service, and terrific food. Loved the pan-seared trout with cauliflower, capers and raisins. No Hendrick’s gin, but Uncle Val’s was a good substitute.
Amazing food and staff!!
Love this restaurant- we’ve dined here twice, both times while on vacation in HHI. The menu is interesting and all the selections are delicious. Love the cocktails, too. Highly recommend for a foodie.
Eclectic and perfect for foodies. Amazing house made drinks as well. Great ambiance.
This is by far the best restaurant on Hilton Head Island. The menu is seasonal, creative and extremely flavorful. We were greeted by Chef/Owner Clayton Rollison, and the wait staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful with questions about the menu. Food was outstanding. We will return frequently.
Food was very good. Service was good, but people with no reservations had pick of seats while we had to wait for a table to open. Why make a reservation? Drinks were just fair. This was our 5th or 6th visit to Lucky Rooster and the experience was not what it was during earlier visits.
purchase meal to go! all due to virus.
meal was very nice
This is my new favourite restarting Hilton Head . The chef is very creative and the food exceptionallly flavourful. He works wonders with vegetables!
Today, May 30, we ventured out for the first time since self quarantining. E had brunch at Lucky Rooster on their new enclosed porch. The tables were spaced even more than recommended Nd, as always, the food was delicious. To us, this is the best restaurant on Hi,ton Head Island.
Food is overpriced for the amount and quality of the food.
This restaurant is far more elegant that it appears on the outside. We winter on HHI every year but never came here simply because the outside was unappealing to us! It has garish lighting making it look “cheap & cheerful”. It is not!
Friends asked us to join them there and we were very surprised at their upscale menu. It was very different and interesting.
The staff are delightful!
Appetizers include octopus and roasted bone marrow. Amazing entrees including delicious scallops. Pleasantly different side dishes including roasted Brussel sprouts. A fascinating restaurant. Certainly not to be judged from the outside!
Great food and service
