Mago Grill & Cantina - Arlington Heights
Tried this place before a show at The Metropolis and it did not disappoint! Great fajitas and margaritas!
Always enjoy our experience and love the food at Mago Grill!
Average restaurant with food that appears to come off a cafeteria style steam table.
Food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Service was good and quick. Biggest complaint was that there was not nearly enough room at a table for 2....very crowded! Chips, salsas, water glasses, water bottle, plates, drink glasses and silverware left no room to even set the menu down..now add the table-side guacamole bowl to this congestion and we were dumping stuff onto the table next to us. Also, if you have tickets to the Metropolis performance, they will give you a 10% discount, but this is something that I did not see advertised...only found out by eavesdropping on the table next to us
Our server was amazing and the food was excellent!
This is one of our favorite local Mexican restaurants. Reservations are highly recommended to ensure quick seating. Food flavors are amazing. We love the 3 salsas they bring out with chips. Excellent selection of moles, all outstanding. Good variety of tacos. Highly recommend.
The food was very good and the service was great. It was, however, very loud in the restaurant.
Food overpriced and just okay. Very , very loud. Husband has hearing aides. Can never go to a venue where tables are close in an open space and there is nothing to buffer loud conversations.
Great for pre-show! Our server was outstanding, she was attentive but not overbearing. The food was good even though we didn't get the tableside guacamole this time.
Had a fun evening with friends.
Food was wonderful.
Mole’s were amazing. Each Mole special in its own way.
Pleasant place to have lunch or dinner with friends when you're in the mood for Mexican food.
The menu had many unique items. The food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. Our server was extremely accommodating. We were a party of 6 and we will definitely return.
I have been going to Mago’s for years. This is the first time the chicken mole was bad. The chicken tasted as if it was leftover.
First time at the Arlington Heights location. Service was slow, server was talking to co-workers most of the time, had to grab his attention a few times. Food was good as usual, nice ambiance.
Great food, knowledgeable wait staff, ample portions.
The ambiance was a little too loud--was hard to talk.
Always good food and relatively quick service. Drinks are strong. Last time they even made an appetizer which was not on the menu, on my request. I like this place.
Good food and service
The waiter felt like he didn’t want to be there that night. Seemed very rushed with all of us. He took my sister in laws plate away way before any of our because she didn’t have any food left on her plate (which seems very rude).. he also was touching the inside of our plates and almost touched her straw from her drink with his sweaty arms when he took her plate away. I was glad I got to put my own food in the to go box.
The acoustics in the restaurant on the left side when you walk into the building were horrible. The speaker was right near our table and we could barely hear anyone talking at our table. Lots of background noise.
Food was just ok. We’ve had better Mexican food at other places in AH and MP.
We will not be recommending to coming back here or to anyone asking for recommendations.
The food was excellent. I had used the app to alert the restaurant about my wife’s birthday but nothing was acknowledged. My wife who checked us in Possibly May not have mentioned our reservation. That was the only disappointment. Great food
I love Mago but in all honesty we couldn't even enjoy our evening. It was so loud in the dining room we could not hear each other in conversation. We may as well have eaten alone.
Great service and food was excellent. They also have fun cocktails to choose from. The restaurant’s decor and music contributed to a great night out.
The Fajitas were very good.
We stopped in for dinner before going to the Metropolis Theatre . Great location, fresh food and flavorful choices. Id go back again!
Surprising! Expecting your typical tex-mex experience. The food and drinks were amazing! We sat at the bar and found out just about everything is freshly prepared with a twist of unique and authentic Mexican cooking! Reminded my wife and I of Tulum which is a “foodie” experience! Many Mezcal drinks which we have a hard time finding since tequila drinks seem more prevalent. Another sign of a true authentic Mexican experience! ...Guacamole is made fresh table side!
Great food and drinks. We sat outside, it was a nice evening weather wise. The construction outside isn’t beautiful to look at, however hopefully that will be done soon
It was a beautiful night to sit outside and listen to the concert in the park while eating dinner with friends. We asked for fish tacos but without the spice. Two of us took 1 bite out of our dorado tacos and could not even take a 2nd bite because they were so spicey. I have had the tacos here before and never had a problem. When we asked for something different the waiter said he would have to pay for our food. I spoke to a manager who confirmed that if a patron returns a meal the wait staff have to pay. I have never heard of a restaurant making the staff pay for a customers meal that is sent back and I have waitressed before. The two fish tacos still showed up on the bill. Worst restaurant management that causes poor customer service. I won’t ever be going back. Much better restaurants in Arlington Heights.
Loved the food and service. Would definitely go back.
Always one of our favorite restaurants. Service was a bit under par last night, but food was amazing, as always.
Great entrees to choose from. Fajitas were very good
Had dinner before the theater. Reservation honored and as usual enjoyed!
The food and staff were great. Sitting on the wrong side of the restaurant, however, proved to be a challenge to have a conversation. The restaurant needs to find a way to deaden the noise; it's distracting and made the meal less enjoyable.
Server was great, food was wonderful!!!
The food was mediocre and the service wasn’t as good as it could have/should have been. The best part of the meal was the table side guacamole and the hand crafted margaritas. The fajitas were meh and the chips were mass produced. I had hoped for more per the previous reviews I had read.
We go here every other week and had a reservation for 7 but had to wait 15 min even though there were plenty of empty tables . Service was slow but food was good.
Food was amazing. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options. The Mago in Arlington Heights is much better than the one in Bolingbrook. We’ll be coming to that location more for sure!
So loud couldn’t hear each other. We were practically yelling. Waitress was accommodating but the noise was too much for us.
Cozy an great place for fusion Mexican food, in downtown Arlington heights so have to find parking
