The food was very good. Service was exceptional. Prices for food and alcohol are excessive. Still, all in all, it was a good experience. I’d go back, but not often.
Celebrating my sons birthday. Made reservations for 6. When we arrived our table was ready! Food was excellent especially the guacamole. Everyone loved the habanero salsa.
Food was very good, especially the guacamole. Would visit again.
Love this place! Food is great - specials are always delicious. Love the decor - colorful tile and glass, the nacho libre masks, day of the dead skull liquor bottles. Good service even when busy.
Always good food, fun atmosphere, and service is attentive. Only drawback is it is super loud in there, so hard to hold a conversation. Also, if you are sensitive to spicy food, be sure to ask. Fish tacos were super spicy.
Server was polite and attentive. Great drinks, great food!
It was average
Well we had a reservation but we still got sat 20 minutes late, then once we got to our table we watched our waiter go and talk to a bunch of tables while we waited 20 minutes for her to even take our drink orders. During the meal if we needed something we would ask and we would never get it. Also for paying $30 for fajitas, only getting 3 very small tortillas was weird and not worth the money. Will never go back, the cost of food for the amount and then the service was enough to steer us away.
Great service and great food!
I love Mago! Although I’m not a big meat eater, their carne asada tacos and burritos are really good but I really like that they have such a great selection of vegetarian options. The tamales de rojas are my absolute favorite. I’ve never found anything like them at another Mexican restaurant.
Our last-minute weeknight decision proved to be the best experience we’ve had here in a long time. The 2 of us were seated immediately during a seemingly busy night. The live-music mariachi band was a nice plus, too. Staff was friendly and attentive. Love their chips and 3-salsa they put on your table soon after being seated. Our margaritas and fish entrees were very good. We’ll be back on a weeknight again soon!
Great experience overall! Great food and service.
Great food, great service, great environment. .......................................................!!!!!!!!!
My usual spot to catch up with old friends. The food never disappoints & the drinks are mouth watering!
We always enjoy dining at Mago. The sangrias are so good and they have lots of different flavors. I had three tacos (shrimp, chicken, and pork) and they are the best.
Very loud! But food and service were both great. And the margaritas were outstanding. There were 6 of us. Couldn’t hear one another.
Great food allergy awareness. Food was amazing with a strong list of options. Very pleased with experience.
Great food and service.
Chips & 3 salsas served with meal. All 3 salsas were really good. Food in general was great. Was at Uncle Julio’s recently and definitely prefer Mago for food and atmosphere. Will go back soon with friends.
I have already recommended this restaurant to many friends and family member. My girlfriend and I had our first date here, we just had our 1st anniversary dinner here and have come numerous times in between that year and have never been let down. We have our typical "go to" meals just out of habit but have tried deviating from the usual and have been satisfied every time. The mezcal specialty cocktails are so delicious and unique, the quality of the food and its appearance is amazing and the ambiance is so refreshing. It has given me the sense of Mexican fine cuisine experience in a more "fancy" manner that you expect to get in the city, brought to you at a local suburb that is convenient. Price wise, it is not the cheap type of "pub" prices sure... however it is also not expensive, yet you get the quality and taste like expensive food. I recommend this place to everybody I know, whether it is for first dates, anniversary dinners or just meeting with friends that you want to impress a bit, just make sure to order the handmade guacamole, every time.
It was our daughters 2nd birthday. We had a good experience
I was a little disappointed. My burrito was cold and my husband’s fajitas were average. The corn tortillas were stale. Was excited to go, heard great things but was not impressed.
Mago never disappoints! Table side quac is a MUST
Had a beautiful lunch outside, although whether had little to do with that too. Tacos & fajita $eye perfect and of course the best trio of salsas I've experienced.
Overpriced for typical Mexican restaurant food. Margarita was $11 - but wasn’t worth half that amount. Sorry - My next visit to the area won’t include dinner at Mago.
The musicians were way too loud!
Friendly staff and delicious food. The table side guacamole is amazing!
Mago is awesome! always such a great experience with reasonably priced food that is fresh and authentic. Staff is super friendly!
Everything was great and their patio is dog friendly. I glad the Mago salad which was bland. Last time I had it, it was delicious. Not sure why it wasn’t as good this time
Would go back again! it is a good place with very good food
Every thing was great. Enjoyed
Excellent Food that is fairly priced. The service is fast & friendly and the restaurant is clean.
It was good. We had salad. The chips and salsa always good. The mild salsa tasted different - like something sweet was added!Did not care for that. Otherwise service was good as was the food!
Food was delicious! Awesome drinks & drink options. Friendly & helpful service.
Good food and I highly recommend getting the table side guacamole, it was ridiculously good. Their free chips and salsa were excellent too.
Birthday dinner
The food and service were excellent. We had the calamari and guacamole appetizers, steak dinner, California burrito, regular fajitas and the bacon wrapped shrimp. All were well prepared and tasted good. We also had a variety of drinks from margaritas, mojitos, and draft Dos Equis beer. The outdoor seating was great on a beautiful day. We will be returning.
It was so HOT in the restaurant. They’re AC wasn’t working correctly. It ruined our whole meal. Also everything on the menu had cilantro. I know it’s popular in Mexican food, but being allergic cilantro, I’m usually able to find something on the menu to eat without it. It was very hard on this menu.
Level of service and quality of food and drinks are consistent with the Arlington Heights location, which I love. The drinks are moderately pricey on the menu but justified by being strong and very flavorful. Food is always excellent. To-go order placed after my meal was very fast as well.
The place was clean, the people were friendly but the food was okay and way over priced. I had the chicken fajitas and the chicken tasted like plain cooked chicken and season tossed on top while it cooked, not marinated. For the price and the very tiny flour tortillas it wasn't worth it. Our server got very busy and it took at least 15m to flag her down to pay. We also had to ask for ice, more chips..not very attentive. I wouldn't recommend because I've had better food and experiences at other locations.
