Brilliant food and good service. Nice view looking over the river.
Very limited choice of vegetarian and fish options. Menu has been the same for many months now. Always feels like this venue misses an opportunity; great location and great upstairs space, which seldom seems to be used.
Booking confirmed online and over the phone. When we arrived they were closed. Managed to speak with someone who confirmed the kitchen was closed until that evening due to a lift replacement but the bar would be opening shortly which was of no help to us.
There was some confusion with were we where seated, we initially went up stairs (my mother has difficulty walking, and uses a walking stick so stairs are difficult) only to be told go downstairs, which we managed to go down only to be told our table was back upstairs! So I did object. Apart from that the food was good and service attentive.
Would have given more stars if there hadn’t been a communication failure between front of house and kitchen. Our order didn’t get through to the kitchen so we had to wait a very long time before the error was realised. Apologies were made but it rather spoiled our experience, especially with a four year-old who became very restless.
Always amazing food , very welcoming atmospher with nice staff.
I am a regular glf also diary always food for me .fresh from the market .
Pleasant birthday lunch in a lovely setting by the Thames. Worth a visit for sure. Manager very personable and attentive.
The staff were fantastic. Food was tasty too
Very good local pub restaurant
Good choices of foods n drinks
Game Taster menu. We had a great evening with lots of laughs including with our French waiter. The food was excellent.
Fantastic place on the river, very helpful and smily staff.
Very tasty Vegan fish & Chips and Vegan Burger
We were the only people in the restaurant which was initially worrying. However, the table was well positioned in the window with a view of the river, the service was excellent, and the food was impressive for a pub restaurant. The fish of the day was outstanding. The homemade pie was delicious and the prawn linguine cooked to perfection. Altogether a very enjoyable evening, with attentive staff, and outstanding food. Will definitely return.
Booked a table in the restaurant on Saturday early evening as we were going to a concert but were told on arrival we had to eat in the bar which was noisy with unruly kids. White wine arrived with ice cubes in it which I hadn’t asked for or expected. Food was pretty average. We won’t be going back anytime soon.
Great food , very attentive and welcoming staff. Great food and have already recommended it to friends.
beautiful food with a beautiful view
Have not been more over a year because it had slightly gone downhill nothing really has changed, menu not enough choice they would do better by introducing a lunchtime menu, drinks have gone up.
Very quiet for a Saturday lunchtime. Staff ok but when I asked what the difference between fish and chips and vegan fish and chips no one knew and didn't offer to go and find out.
Will not be going back anytime soon.
Lovely couldn’t fault our experience here at the Magpie,we will certainly be coming again.
Thank you x
Outstanding food and service. Excellent Sunday roasts of lamb, beef, and pork belly. Lovely river views added to a really pleasant meal. Can highly recommend
I had to send back 2 dishes, which I do not do lightly. Several items not available on menu, order came out wrong. Smoked mackerel pate tasteless, first 2 mouthfuls with bones. Dressed crab, mushy with mixed brown and white meat. Lack of seasoning on everything. Extremely disappointing. We were also expected to go to the bar for extra drinks, during our meal with a queue of around 20 people! However manager did try to very hard to improve things and offered me a different meal. It was ok. Poor items were knocked off bill and I was charge 1/2 price for my second meal. But I think the food was just sub standard. Need a new chef! Nothing like the reviews or pictures on website or trip advisor therefore very disappointed.
This is a real find with the nicest terrace overlooking the Thames. They can't do enough for you in there I stress not in a fussy way. Food superb. We arrange nights out with my team at BP and we'll come here en masse.
It's a lovely place and food is good although several standard things like a burger not available and it was before 7pm. It was a busy Sunday I guess.
The staff were really friendly and the food was good. We took our baby and dog and had a lovely table in the bar area overlooking the water! Overall a perfect Sunday lunch!
Unfortunately the manager called us shortly before our booking and told us there had been an incident and couldn’t serve us. We understand there can be issues and appreciated the call.
Lovely location and great riverside terrace but some aspects were tired and tatty eg dead hanging baskets and pergola with nothing growing on it. Food choices very limited and this was disappointing. Lovely place to sit in the sun on a Friday afternoon but don't go expecting a wonderful meal!
This is an amazing pub. Always a great atmosphere with a great selection of food and drinks. Outside area amazing for the dinner days of the year.
Lovely food. Only comment i would make is, we had the pie. More gravy and mash was needed - Other than that Lovely food . Friendly staff. Lovely location We will be back
Sunday night on a bank holiday. Fairly busy with hardly any staff. However, the New Zealand waiter was excellent and worked hard to look after us.
The wine was expensive £30 for a bottle of sauvignon blanc. Food average, we had fish and chips. Fish good but tasteless chips and a rather strange tartare sauce .
No particular atmosphere and a large group of older teens lounging on each other in chairs. Not particularly good value for money and wouldn’t return. A shame as a lovely riverside aspect.
We booked the bar so it would be a bit more lively but we were put upstairs in the restaurant, which had no atmosphere what so ever, we did complain but not really interested
Lovely venue, great riverside setting, good menu and lovely service, very accommodating!
Lovey venue with views by the river. North bank so garden mostly in shade at lunchtime. We had a Big table for 8 Helpful and attentive staff. Food exactly as expected, high quality Gastro pub fayre. Starter nibbles, Burger, Sunday Roast etc. All delicious. Left happy.
This is the second time we have visited on our way to twickenham. Great food and great staff.
Good pub. Great location on the river. Perfect for a pre match lunch for Twickenham.
Nice Sunday roast with my family. The roast is a bit more expensive than in other places but was very good. Great service and nice atmosphere, looking the river.
I would like to get back on a summer day.
Visited the magpie on a Sat evening. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was very tasty bar food. really enjoyed. Atmosphere was really good. Really nice pub
Great hot food in good quantity, a classic Sunday roast with some nice touches. Excellent service, served all food and drinks promptly but left us alone in between times. It was a pleasure to be able to eat without being hurried and have a proper time to digest the food inbetween courses. Also had a lovely view from our table looking out over the Thames.
The Magpie was excellent, the booking process was not. We arrived but our booking had not. The Magpie brought in a spare table and were really helpful.
Three of us went for Sunday lunch the roast beef was good and so was the selection of vegetables, although the Yorkshire pudding was only average. We would have stayed longer but it was so cold in the restaurant that 2 of us had to put our coats on.
Unfortunately our visit wasn’t a good one. We both had a Sunday roast, unfortunately the “large” Yorkshire Pudding was anything but, more akin to a canapé and cooked from frozen. I asked what vegetables came with the meal and was told carrots, cauliflower etc. So I ordered a side dish of honey and thyme roasted parsnips. Unfortunately when the meal arrived the min dish had parsnips, the cauliflower was clock cold and the honey and thyme parsnips hadn't seen any honey or thyme!
We raised our disappointment with the staff and they kindly refunded us the parsnips and offered us a free desert, which we didn’t take them up on.
Hopefully it was just an off day in the kitchen.
Great venue for a quiet family lunch with riverside setting
A friendly welcome and tasty food in a room with a delightful riverside view.
