We generally know what to expect when visiting. It's our goto AYCE sushi place due to proximity. The food is reasonable and fresh. Sushi is fast, the kitchen is a bit slower making for sporadic deliveries of orders placed on the iPad. I wouldn't say the servers are "outgoing" but generally polite and friendly enough. Overall happy but the cost seems to keep increasing with not much in additional offerings. Other locations (Whitby) seem to have a slightly more expanded AYCE menu.
A birthday and anniversary lunch for my parents at what is quickly becoming their favourite restaurant. We’ll likely be back again soon. We especially loved the addition of the fried custard cream buns. Yum!
They had the radio so loud we couldn’t talk to each other properly

Food over all was great. We just wish they had tuna sashimi on the menu. We were there on a Sunday dinner with our grandchildren from North Carolina.
Slow service compared to other AYCE places..we had to wait many times. After placing the order on iPad it was not confirmed for a long time and we were waiting in the middle of our meal without any food. But overall food and ambience was good.
Don’t recommend to go close to the end of the day, the service quality drops considerably as they start to rush you to close the restaurant... My 11 year older birthday girl who chose this place was quite disappointed as she was not done eating and they were rushing her for the last call... I always told her to not order more than you can eat so she ordered just what she was sure in the last call and when she finished she still wanted more... It was the first time ever we left an all you can eat restaurant feeling like we still could eat more... The food was good... The problem was mostly about the service...
Found the server(s) to be more interested and polite than previous experiences. Food is adequate for AYCE but the menu is smaller than the regular menu. The room is noisy with all of the hard surfaces. Overall however, it’s a good experience and meal.
For lunch price during Father's Day it was not bad, but for me its pretty much mediocre. Setting is pretty but slightly dark and food wise is good enough. The service is very prompt and precise due to having tablet form order. Thank you and do some more improvements.
Service and food were good. We asked for a table of 6 and they put us in the back corner of the restaurants. It was colder and darker there so it was a little uncomfortable but overall, not a bad experience.
AYCE is the best there. they have a system to order with touch screen menus and service is very fast and food very fresh
We made a reservation, they forgot about it. Forgot items on the order so we had to re order. Waitress was not pleasant. Very expensive.
The lighting was a bit dark in certain places, especially the bathroom. The food was good and the wait time wasn't too bad, though the wait time could be attributed to there not being many customers. Nothing to really complain about and it is an AYCE so make sure your stomach is empty and ready to get your money's worth.
The service at the Pickering restaurant is very poor, unlike the great service at their Ajax, Whitby, and Pearson Airport locations. It took over 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted anything to drink. When I asked for the WiFi password, the server turned her back on me, and walked away. The food came in drips and drabs, and most of it was cold by time it was delivered. The amounts of tempura and sashimi were incorrect, and half were never delivered. The restaurant needs to hire staff who can speak English (and even smile).

Food always great and they don't rush you so you have time to enjoy meal and company at leisure. Excellent service although we had to ask for a tea re-fill this time.

Was a quiet night. Service was steady. Overall, food was good. Was nice to see non-dyed ginger. Corn soup...do not order. A drop of yellow dye does not make it taste better. But the sushi was on point.
Good place for all you can eat sushi. I like this place much better than the Ajax location. It’s a good date place for dinner.
Pretty typical AYCE sushi. Nothing stellar but reasonably consistent food quality with an extensive selection. You know what to expect on subsequent trips. You're not going to find high-end products like fatty tuna just 'plain jane' tuna and nothing very exotic. The standard sushi items generally come out quickly but if you have ordered (via iPad) cooked, hot, fried items things will not necessarily come out in order.
If the restaurant is full it's noisy. A recent renovation has spruced the place up nicely. Historically the staff are not particularly 'friendly' but I've never experienced rudeness. This could likely be attributed to differing language strengths. On this occasion, however, I found the staff somewhat more attentive and pleasant. Maybe something has changed?
As for price, in line with other options in the area but I find all to be somewhat overpriced but a good selection allows you to order smaller portions increasing variety.
I like the place as is quiet and good food, and also the servers are very friendly.

The food was very fresh and very good. Our server was nice but the delivery of the food was terrible. They dumped all the food down by where the kids were sitting including BEER. I was really disappointed that my daughter as well as our friends kids were expected to hand down beer and food because they couldn't walk two steps to bring the food and drinks to at least the middle of the table. We were only a party of 7. The clearing of the dirty dishes was also very slow. I also found the restaurant to be very dirty. I would give a recommendation but would advise on the above review.
Food is good, but as soon as you get in they ask you what drink you like and when you say tea they will say its extra. I get pop and beer should be extra but tea should not be as its part of the whole Japanese dining exp. You would think tea should be included on the dinner price. Also we have a stroller as we were celebrating my sons 1st bday and they would not let us bring the stroller in due to “lack of space”. I had to carry my child during dinner. This place is not baby friendly at all.
Food was excellent. Service was pretty good, but knocked down to 3 stars because they did not accept our OpenTable dining cheque.
Door at entrance was stuck so thought restaurant was closed, even though I had reservations. Staff soon came to open door. Two others behind me ran into same problem. 2 staff members pushed and argued at the door for several minutes while 3 of us listen and waited to be shown our seats. I was waiting for a colleague to arrive and wasn't sure what she would want so waited before ordering. Was asked if I wanted the 'all you can eat' lunch which I said no. Decided to order some appetizers until my colleague arrived. Colleague was unavailable so I decided to just stick with my appetizers. 2 shrimp, 2 scallops, 2 chicken sticks, dish of breaded mushrooms (4), dish of tempura veggies (5). 1 tea (cold!) 1 soft drink. My bill was over $27.00 +tax +tip. I discussed with my server why I was charged $19.99 for the 'all you can eat' lunch when I said I didn't want it. What I didn't realize was, if I ordered from the tablet, it was considered the 'all you can eat' meal. I wish the server had explained that before I ordered as I clearly said I didn't want it and thought I was just ordering appetizers for 2. Had she taken the tablet away saying it was only for the 'all you can eat' option, I would have understood and ordered from the other menu that was also left at my table. The food was good, service slow, argument at front door, unprofessional, server unclear in explaining differences between tablet and menu. A new visitor to the restaurant would probably fall into the same position as I. As my colleague was unable to attend, I would have certainly just chosen any of the dishes on the other menu, all under about $15. So sad :(
Sit larger groups further away from small ones. Too loud otherwise.

We booked in for lunch for my parents’ anniversary as my mom loves Makimono. This location is fast becoming a family favourite. The food is tasty and is always freshly prepared. Obviously, we’ll be back!
Restaurant knew nothing about my reservation, just seated us. After the meal, I got an email from Open Table. accusing me of being a "no show". Not too professional...
