Malbec - Pasadena
The place is nice but the food is really lousy. I am Argentinian and the empanadas are the worst empanadas that I ever have. The provoleta also horrible. I ordered as a main course a pork loin wrapped in Serrano ham and peppercorn which made the Serrano ham bitter, so none of the meals I ordered were worth it. Go to YouTube and learn how to cook
The food was great and the environment was welcoming. The service was also great.
Our reservation was for an outside table (they said that's all they had), but wasn't available when we got there so they seated us inside, which we were glad for.
3 of us ordered the skirt steak and it was all excellent! Cooked perfectly and so delicious with the chimichurri sauce. Another person ordered the rib eye which she really enjoyed.
The place is very dark, so it was difficult to read the menu. The restroom was also really dark, but I suppose that was to match the ambience of the restaurant. Otherwise great energy with the crowd.
We had a wonderful time at Malbec. Every dish was delicious and the service was excellent. We sat next to a very loud party, which isn't the restaurant's fault, but it was a bit distracting. Still, we had a great time and look forward to returning.
Excellent food & service.
Javier is wonderful as always!!! The food today was outstanding and we look forward to many more lunches . We hope to continue bring many more colleagues, friends and family into Malbecs
Adequate but not memorable. The grilled sausage platter was very disappointing, tried 3 types including 2 chorizo, but found all of them bland and dry. However, we had a spinach-stuffed pasta served in a tomato cream sauce that was fantastic, and the herbed olive oil served with the bread at ordering was superb. Our waiter, Ruben, was friendly and professional, well versed in his menu. Wine list was pretty limited, prices about the same as other restaurants (i.e. no standout values).
This place is so great. I have been twice now. Everything on the menu has been delicious. Small note that they only serve wine and beer here. No alcohol which is just fine as their wine menu is fabulous. They offer Valet and I used it the first time I went. This week, we went on a Monday and there was no valet. Perhaps its only certain days of the week? There is parking behind the restaurant (across the street) that is just fine to use. I would 100% recommend this restaurant.
The food was amazing. My family had great time .
Valentine’s Day and Promotion and new job
Fantastic place. The front desk could be a bit more organized. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, not a big deal, but when you have a reservation, that's one thing I don't like. That said, great food, great environment, and reasonable.
It was a very good Valentines dinner. They had a special menu for the occasion. Although we had an appetizer, wine, steak, side dishes and shared a dessert, the total Pre-tax bill was only $120. Very reasonable and great service.
The staff were great. They were welcoming and attentive. My kids enjoyed it. My wife and I thought the cebiche was really good. The seafood wasn’t bad but could be a little better. This is my second time there. The first time I had the entrana, skirt steak which was very delicious. On my second visit I tried the branzino which was okay. My wife had the paella which she thought was too rich. Overall, this is an excellent restaurant and worth the experience. I’d probably go with beef the next time. The desserts were really good. We had the mousse and the afogato.
Valentines dinner was great. Very organized and attentive
My wife and I have been coming to Malbec for the Past 11 years. The quality is always high and the service has always been excellent.
Good food service could have been better
It was nice that they offered vegan options. The waitress was very knowledgeable with the Argentinian cuisines. She was versed with the wine selections as well.
Everything was super tasty! I was here for the LA restaurant week and the server (don’t remember his name) was super helpful breaking down the options. 10/10 will come back again
Perhaps it was dine week. Our salad and ceviche never arrived. Service was slow. They didn’t bring us steak knifes until we had already started eating.
We had a pleasant time at Malbec. Foods were decent, service was great. I would definitely go back.
Some of the dishes were good. My family and I went for their Dine La Event. I felt that they did a wonderful job with their meats, however, their side dishes were incredibly over salted. They were almost inedible.
It was overcrowded. Even with a 7:30 reservation, it took 20 minutes to give us a table. The service was very slow. The appetizers took 20 minutes to be brought to us. It was 9:10 when the main dishes were served. The food was very good, but the jack of attention from the waiters to bring bread, serve water or explain why it was taking so long took away part of the positive experience. If you are not in a hurry it is usually a pleasant experience. The meat was excellent as well as the pasta.
group was having a party next to us, had to yell so my partner right in front of me could hear me.
Excellent food and service.
Kudos to our server Bernard who made great recommendations and was charming and congenial. The seafood paella was outstanding.
Great food and even better service. The wine selection is wide and interesting. The Malbec Stake was delicious. Great place
We had a family dinner at the restaurant and all enjoyed the evening.
The two steaks we order were favourful.
The ceviche was yummy.
We would return.
Steak was not as good as expected. Had better steaks at lower priced restaurants. Even the rib eye was without exceptional flavor. Side of potatoes was without flavor or texture. Wine choices were great.
Our first time there and the food was great, would definitely go back. We live out of the area but will make a point of adding Malbec's to our lists of favorites in Pasadena.
It was nice. The food is delicious and they brought a sundae for my birthday at the end!
We came here to celebrate my birthday. Everything was terrific. We started with grilled octopus and yellowtail ceviche. For the main we had sea bass, ribeye, and a small platter of sausages. For dessert dulce de leche crepes and ice cream. The service was top notch, the food was delicious, we are hooked! We can't wait to come back!
