Manuel's Restaurant and Bar
Manuel's is our go for a romantic meal! We arrived and had a lovely seat next to the open doors. The food, as always was excellent. Being early days after lockdown lifted the place wasn't buzzing but it was that calmness and less business that was what we needed. A couple of hours absolutely flies by xx
Very good food prepared by Manuel .
The great thing is that the food is consistently good and I have been to Manuel's for many years.
So I shall return with pleasure.
Lovely, family run restaurant that serves generous portions. Staff are warm, friendly and chivalrous. The food was tasty and it had a lovely ambience complete with live jazz. Will go again.
We went for New Year having been twice before when both times were delicious. This time it was clear they had added tables downstairs that were more than they could cope with. The food was no where near as good as previous, it took ages, to the point we almost missed our party, and they charged us £200. A shame but a massive rip off and we will certainly not hurry back
Overall a great experience. Amazing food though service is slow
Manuel`s is a proper restaurant using fresh ingredients prepared by the chef owner. Food is prepared and presented lovingly which I feel is a rare experience these days. The service, ambience, and presentation of food is faultless. Whether you go for Sunday lunch, one of their themed nights, or special occasion i.e. Christmas or New Years eve you wont be disappointed.
The Valentine's Day set menu here was outstanding - and just about felt worth the £70 per head! It's a quaint, old-fashioned place so expect very knowledgeable waiters and authentic cuisine, but a rather traditional feel and ambience. Only slight criticism was that our third course, beef fillet, took more than 45 minutes to arrive which, considering we had been asked to submit our main course choice by phone the day before, was a little frustrating and meant we were still eating dessert at 11pm (having arrived at 7.30pm). Would certainly go back for a non-Valentine's dinner though - the food and the service (barring the main course delay) was absolutely exquisite.
We've been a couple of times both when there have been live music.
It can be a little expensive.. But the food and service are amazing
Moved away from the area some years ago, but travelled in for birthday. Portions v generous and the monkfish was fantastic. Very accommodating to children, despite being largely an older clientele. Mine responded to being treated like grown ups by acting like grown ups, which was bit of a relief.
We’ve eaten here before and vowed to return - several years later, we did! Idit is just as good. It is rare to find a real Italian restaurant like this and the food is excellent. As we are an older couple, we often share 1 dish between 2 so that we can taste more dishes. This is not a problem here.
An extra was the live opera singing - wonderful. Different types of music/singing twice a month approximately, Wednesday or Thursday.
Thank you and we will be back!
Local neighbourhood restaurants that we'd driven passed many times and always wanted to try. It was quiet 7pm on a Friday evening, only two other tables taken by 8:30, but service was excellent and the food authentic italian. The linguine lobster is highly recommended.
This is a typical "don;t judge a book by it's cover", place. I have to say, when I walked in I was taken aback as how dated the interior is. The fact that we had an early table at 19:00 probably didn't help as it was also empty - with Elvis playing over the speakers!
However, there were other customers that night - some seemed to be regulars, the service was very good and the food was very nice. We eat out quite a bit and my partner can have high expectations but he was extremely happy.
A bottle of red, two mains, 1 dessert and 2 coffees - £100.
The Restaurant was a big surprise. On arrival the atmosphere was dead. Decor not great but clean and nice white table cloths. The menu extensive and Service excellent and friendly. When the food arrived I was totally balled over. Superb home made food, from staters, main course and delicious home made desserts. One of the best meals I have had for a long time in London. Just need to upgrade the interior and ambiance.
A pleasant restaurant but usually feels rather empty. Their special event evenings are busy and we have had good “opera evenings” there.
We went to Manuel's for the first time on New Year's eve. The food was excellent and the service brilliant but the ambience was seriously lacking. There was no entertainment for New Year's eve so consequently my partner and I decided to leave before midnight to find somewhere where we could see the New Year in with a bit more cheer. I would recommend the restaurant for a lovely meal but we wouldn't go again for new years eve
great place to eat good food good service knowledgeable staff fair priced food.
Booked this for a new years eve dinner for myself and husband. Local to us so easy to walk to. Web site said it closed at 9 on sundays so booked for 7pm. Also did not know that it was £70 for set meal. However food was delicious. Service was excellent and attentive. Decor is a little old but the atmosphere was very pleasant.
Would definately give it another go
Great atmosphere and food cooked fresh to order. Would go back again and again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food and wine
It was perfect for my husbands's birthday lunch, service was good my family loved the place and would like to return for Christmas day . Child friendly and very welcoming . every one enjoyed their food and looking forward to returning soon.
The staff were really pleasant and attentive and the food was excellent. A very relaxed atmosphere and, based on many trips to Italy, just the sort of place one finds in that country with the emphasis on quality of food and service.
The food was wonderful as ever. The grilled squid in chilli and garlic is always cooked to perfection (special). It never disappoints (except when my husband wants to share!). I followed that with spaghetti alla vongole. It was a really delicious sauce with real depth of flavour and real substance to the clams. My husband had the venison which he raved about. Very very good.
Manuel's is truly a hidden gem in our area. Everything we had was outstanding. I had the scallop started and the ragu main; my husband had the fish soup starter and the veal escalope. We shared some tiramisu as well. It was old-school Italian in the best way possible.
It was a surprise birthday dinner for my husband he was very pleased! Thanks so much for a great experience.
I've been to Manuels twice now and it really is a gem. Worth traveling for!
Simply one of the best restaurants I've been to in London.
The attention to detail with the food as well as the service is truly outstanding
We would recommend this restaurant for special occasions as the food was excellent fresh and tasty. Our complements go to the chef.
We took pics of our dishes which are still in the camera.
Our next 'special day'will be in October when we hope to book once again.
This is a lovely authentic Italian restaurant. I have eaten here a few times and the food never disappoints. All dishes are cooked beautifully with great quality ingredients. The service is very good, with fine dining etiquette. Would recommend for a special occasion or date night.
Food very good and cooked from scratch so therefore you have to wait a little while but believe me it is worth the wait!!!
Manuels never fails to please. The cooking is consistent and exceptional, everything made in the kitchen, fresh quality ingredients, interesting range of choice on the menu, no rush, leisurely pace as it should be, and the sweet trolley is divine, everything punches above its weight. What started as a birthday treat will now be a regular return visit!
We booked a table for our anniversary dinner. It turned out much better than anticipated. My husband is a celiac and the chef came out to discuss the menu. Amazing. Food was superb and generous portions. We will be back.
Our first visit since moving to the area but a great neighbourhood restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside but I'd read good reviews so wanted to try it and glad we did.
It's a traditional Italian restaurant with a focus on seafood. The seafood risotto and aubergine parmigiana were particularly good, as was as the freshly baked rosemary bread.
It was quiet when we went on a Friday night but apparently it gets quite busy on Saturdays and Sundays and it was an incredibly hot day so that probably had something to do with it. Either way, I hope they are doing well as it's a shame to think that some of the older restaurants could struggle as newer, more 'gentrified' ones come to the area.
If you're in the area and fancy a nice local dinner, do try it out and show your support!
Fantastic service! Wine glasses were topped up, chefs brought the dishes to the table, perfect intervals between courses and complimentary limoncello after the meal. The food is good, but I'd definitely go back for the service alone. Had a lovely continental feel- white table cloths and wooden chairs.
Initial impressions were very good as we were greeted warmly as we entered the restaurant and admired the beautiful tiled floor. Glad to say the positive feelings continued through our whole meal at Manuel's. The food was rich and lovingly crafted and the service impeccable. Looking forward to coming again.
Great meal and staff as always very attentive. Food always freshly cooked. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who apreciates good food and wine
Food was good. Staff helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced.
Overall a nice experience, friendly staff and decent food. It didnt blow me away but it was worth the visit.
We used to live round the corner and had been a few times before, every time it was great. On the last occasion we had the Sunday lunch which was amazing, meat carved at the table...
Having moved away we happened to be in the area and booked for Sunday lunch.
As ever, great service, great roast, really family friendly and also kids eat free on the offer at the moment when adults have 2 courses.
Another great night at Manuel's - thank-you very much to the staff and the opera performers. Your restaurant is an asset to the area and we are so pleased to have you around the corner from our home!
Beautiful place to eat! The food was exceptional- extremely authentic, and the portions generous. I couldn't chose a starter because quite a few stood out, so I greedily ordered two and shared them. I definitely didn't regret my decision to do this as they were equally delicious :-)
I ordered the dover sole which was cooked, brought out and beautifully filleted in front of us. This was great to watch.
The service was A class, and we all really enjoyed our evening! Manuel's is a gem, and we will definitely be going back.
We had a lovely family meal here on Saturday night. The food was all very good and the staff were very attentive but not too much. Highly recommended.
Another great evening at Manuel's with great food and service. I will certainly be back soon!
I read a lot of good reviews on this place and I would agree Manuels is a great spot. The food was delicious and it is a nice cosey little place. The staff were also very friendly and provided a great level of service. I would highly recommend. The location is also awesome if you would like a drink before ir after in one of the bars/pubs nearby.
