Marathon - 19th & Spruce
We were on a tight time schedule in order to eat dinner and then attend an event. The service was very efficient, food was plentiful and delicious. Marathon is a great restaurant for good quality food and good service.
Food was tasty and almost everything was of very good quality for the price.
The service was great!
Server Paul was on point, came to check on us every time. Food wasn't bad at all, but couscous was dry and crunchy which was supposed to be soft.
I did not see any manager checking on us.
It was a cold rainy day so I went out for comfort food. Excited to have a cheat meal I started with vegan chili and as an entree ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The food was decent, not great, but I had the worst server I’ve had in years. By way of example, when she got my order wrong (no sweet potato fries) and left the table claiming she would go out in the order, she stopped at another table, without embellishment talked to the people at the table for over five minutes, and then finally disappeared. She returns to the table again long after I’ve finished my sandwich (again fair at best) with a steaming hot order of sweet potato fries. By that time I was ready to go. Feeling she might do a better job with that situation in the future if I mentioned it, she started making excuses and asking if I wanted to speak to a manager. If the food was good and I thought I might return one day I would have, but at that point it was just a waste of time. And worse... no apology. Attitude was not great throughout my experience. I would not recommend this place. I left a modest tip out of pity and will not be returning.
Only sometimes it’s a bit loud but it’s always yummy!
Jambalaya was outstanding. The sangria as well. And our server was an absolute delight.
This was a dinner for my
Daughter’s 21 Sr birthday and I just mentioned it was her birthday when I made the reservation and when Marathon ion Spruce went above and beyond. We arrived to a perfect reserved table and a complimentary bottle of champagne. The service was friendly, welcoming and timely. The food was delicious. The specials were fresh and creative. The pricing was not overpriced center fare it was reasonable without giving up quality. Thank you for a great memorable meal and night.
Food is absolutely delicious, healthy, and hearty. I genuinely love this place. Also very friendly staff!
Consistently good food and service. I love the grilled soy ginger salmon.
Our waitress Tiffany was wonderful
On a cold day in December the grilled cheese sandwich with ham and fresh salad were great. Our server was attentive and the cost was reasonable.
When I arrived I was quickly greeted and taken to a table with a nice location. She server, Lauren was professional outgoing and she even took time to assist me with a minor technology issue I was having with an app.
Could not ask for more.
The chicken noodle soup was some of the best chicken noodle soup I have ever had. Overall, the entire experience was just fantastic!
It was super busy but we didn’t mind having to wait a little bit for food, very nice staff who were all attentive
Great service, good comfort food with large portions for the price!
I had been to Marathon the previous night at the recommendation of the B&B staff at La Reserve. I sat at the bar area and met some interesting people and enjoyed the bar seen. Soup was great. The Bar area TV was showing a Food Network program highlighting pork dishes, so I ordered the pork dish, flavorful tender and yummy mashed sweet potatoes too. For the next night, I booked via Open Table. Marathon Grill was so busy they said we could wait 20 minutes for a table or sit back at the bar, so we took the bar option. I got a standard mojito after watching one of the bartenders make one, and we had two different wines. This time I got a dish with mashed and steamed spinach on the side, and the matzo ball soup. It was too much food after the soup -- this was the Chicken Marsala dish, but we had it for lunch at our B & B apartment on Sunday. But the highlight was the chicken pot pie -- wow. My husband, never a fan of tubers -- loved this dish. It was the right blend of chicken, veggies, including just enough parsnips to give it a wintry kick. Wow.
Great food. Amazing service.
Food and service were excellent. A little noisy.
Amazing food and great place
Enjoyable visit with great food and service
I hesitate to criticize this location as it’s been quite a while since we had visited last. My wife and I stop in to the 16th & Sansom restaurant almost every Friday evening.
We know many of the wait staff; Izzy, the hostess; Meetra the Expediter and Raul the Manager - - - and they know us.
My wife liked her Cobb salad but she said the chicken was dry. I found the same thing with my braised short ribs. Is this typical of this restaurant or was it exacerbated by the fact that the 16th street location was closed for renovations?
I sincerely hope this info will be accepted from a very satisfied, longtime customer, to answer your in our impressions and experiences with your restaurants.
Floor under the counter was dirty from one end to the other,
Excellent food, good choices at a good price point
One of my new favorites in Philly! Great place to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
The very best!
One member of our party needed gluten free food. Not many choices.
Mediocre food. We were regulars. Last two dinners were disappointing.
A nice evening but we waited a lot for our drinks. The conditionned-air was too strong.
Winner winner every dinner! I booked for a group of 12 and from start to finish, the experience was great. The staff didn’t have me jump through hoops for a large party or have restrictions or higher prices like other restaurants. The service that night was impeccable and every member of my family loved their dinner, even the fussy ones. Thank you Marathon Grill for a fun night. Kudos to management, staff, and chefs.
Great outdoor meal on a pleasant Saturday evening.
Great food, terrific waitress, fun evening! Soy ginger salmon and mozzarella tomato salad were excellent. Will definitely come back.
Great place for casual dining. Food’s great, very quick service. Nice local restaurant
We are blessed to have Marathon Grill right around the corner from us. Simple American and continental cuisine made from locally-sourced food and always well prepared and served. It's among the best lunch places on Rittenhouse Square, great for a simple, satisfying dinner. Always specials and a pleasingly full menu, featuring hot turkey sandwich, excellent crab cakes, meatballs, salads, soups, and a full bar. This is a great spot to meet friends for a casual meal. Portions are plentiful, food fresh and made from the finest ingredients, and service cheerful and fast. Weekends include breakfast and brunch, along with lunch & dinner. Recommend it highly.
My ratings show that we were pleased with all aspect of our dining experience
I’m usually quite happy with the food & service at Marathon, but this time was very disappointing. They were out of their “specials” before 12:30, and the food we had was not very good. I usually love their quiche-full of veggies- this time it was dry & hardly warm, almost cold. I had brought guests & had to apologize for the meal. I would still try it again, but warily.
Absolutely wonderful service. Waitress, host. Everyone couldn’t have been nicer.
Food was good. Kids meals were more than reasonable priced. But, wish they had kid size drinks. Have that issue with a lot of places. So I understand but it is annoying.
We eat here a lot - and, it's because the food is always good and moderately priced. Can't beat them for their old-fashioned offerings: turkey platter, meatloaf, and even a chicken pot pie special. Their hamburgers are great as well. And, try their pasta... Well, you get the point. Definitely good for a casual meal.
Always dependable. Varied menu, lots of specials. Never too fancy, good and fresh. Caring servers. Kitchen occasionally slow. I like 29th and Spruce.
