Exeptional food. Different from other Sushi places. Highly recommend.
Amazing Amazing food, great waitstaff. Friendly atmosphere
Really great sushi and awesome server, but sushi took over an hour after we ordered to be served... Definitely will go back but they are certainly struggling with staffing, as many restaurants are. If you go, be sure to have time to wait.
Had a great time! We were surprised we made it for the last 15 minutes of happy hour on a Friday night. We were able to order a couple of things on the HH menu. The food came out in a reasonable time and tasted delicious! The Hawaiian Escolar and NE Roll are NOT to be missed (both are only on the HH menu)! They were so good, I was mad I agreed to share them! Service was great, very friendly and quick. We loved the food and experience and will definitely be back!
New smaller menu is very disappointing. What happened to all the robots, and more appetizers and rolls?
Really good sushi, amazing under flavors that linger just right.
Prices were just slightly higher then a less capable place.
Our server was a little un attentive. Kitchen a little slow on sushi but worth the wait.
Presentation matched the deliciousness.
Best sushi in town. The food is always fantastic. The wait staff is fun, friendly and very efficient. Love this restaurant. It is where my friends and family love to come for celebrations.
Awesome experience! Good food, ambiance and service! I love celebrating special occasions here!
The only reason we are one star short is due to extensive menu changes since last time we visited! We miss a lot of the dishes like the crispy pork and teriyaki rolls!
Great Happy Hour food and beverages. Especially enjoyed the tasty steamed buns.
Awesome as always. Food is fantastic, excellent service, and overall a great place!
Best sushi in town. Never disappoints.
Masu is our favorite sushi spot in the twin cities. We went there in June 2021, for the first time since before Covid lockdowns. They are still employing some additional covid measures like reduced seating and glass barriers at the bar, etc. All things considered the staff were GREAT with these additional considerations. Covid restrictions can easily dampen an otherwise very positive experience, but not at Masu. It was honestly barely even noticed. Masu is the best!
Amazing! Beautiful rolls and fresh creamy sashimi. Go! You’ll be glad you did!
Thankful to get a rezzie during a peak time in the post-high-Covid-alert world! The restaurant felt roomy and very safe/clean. Service was terrific, food was so good (the menu is a little smaller than it used to be, but it was still plentiful and varied). And the presentation is always lovely. We had two really fun and good cocktails - different and super refreshing. Thanks for a great evening out with my nephew!
Lots of staff, few patrons, extremely overprices and limited menu.
Wonderful food. Loud table near us but our food and drinks were great. Wonderful service too
We got an outdoor table at Masu for our anniversary, and our first foray out into the world post vaccination. It was fantastic. The food was really delicious, and both my partner (omnivore) and I (vegan) found lots of things to try. The veggie caterpillar roll is killer, and the lychee lemontini were top notch. The service was lovely, and we had a fantastic date. 12 out of ten stars.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Masu was not only able to accommodate our party size when I called to adjust the reservation (for seven, which is excessive of what OT lists as a maximum), but also the service was immaculate, servers were knowledgeable, we were well taken care of, and everyone enjoyed the food. We have been frequenting Masu for at least several years now and are happy with the consistency of food, service, and quality we get. Masu has delivered a great experience and meal from midday solo lunches and late night happy hour dates and pandemic takeout to group celebrations like these with anywhere from three people to a crew. In addition, they have a kitchen able to consistently and safely accommodate *celiac* eaters / severe gluten sensitivities/allergies, which is extremely helpful for including our friends with dietary restrictions. We cannot wait for the omakase option to come back.
Great to see Masu back up and running. I have to say, post vaccine, this was our first restaurant experience where we didn’t feel any need to cut the staff and kitchen some slack while they get back up to speed. In fact, we felt that the quality of this experience might have been better than the last few times we went before shutdown. So the good news it that, despite all the industry struggles over the past 2 years, Masu has gotten totes gotten its groove back! Now if we could just hit herd immunity so I can go play pachinko without feeling weird about it!
Masu is always so great! Best sushi and service in MPLS!
My favorite place to get good-quality sushi for a reasonable price.
Always good. They are getting up to speed after Covid. They will be expanding the menu soon.
The menu is somewhat limited, but the food and sushi is high quality and was very good. Not huge portions or super filling and moderately pricey, but drinks and service was great and the food tasted great too. Highly recommend the steamed buns and the sushi dishes, and the ramen was good too!
Mid level sushi, limited to choice of around 6-9 nigiri/sashimi; no toro, Saba, ebi; but does have rolls, spring rolls and hand buns. Atmosphere is similar to a diner. Bathroom was filthy, trash overflowing. Clearly not serviced during the evening.
The food and service are always amazing. The sushi is so fresh!
We picked Masu as the first restaurant we went to once fully vaccinated, so that should tell you all you need to know.
Went for sushi and cocktails and it was a fun time. Nigiri and rolls got were awesome.
Thank for a wonderful birthday celebration! Best drinks and love the rotation.
Masu is still our fav place to go to when we’re craving sushi!
Their “steam” rolls are addicting & this time I ordered the crunchy Pork Belly.
We loved it! It was our first date in a restaurant since Covid, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Masu is one of my favorite places to go with friends. Love the sushi. I miss the special touches like warm washcloths but the sushi doesn’t dissapoint
Went to Masu for a birthday celebration, just my immediate family. This was the first time we dined at a restaurant in over a year - since the start of the pandemic. Maus’s always been a favorite, and they lived up to our expectations and memories of past meals. Between the sushi rolls, the steamed buns and the pork belly, it was out of this world!
super fun place! it was my 21st birthday and it was a really fun place to celebrate! they were all so kind!
We love it there so much! If I were to make a critique, it would be that the space is probably due for some upkeep. The beautiful photos are starting to peel off of the wall and general deterioration is taking place. The food is always beautiful and the service is so great!
Worst service and experience ever. Food good. Horrible hostess.
The sushi was amazing. We requested the Itamae, Sushi Master Chef, create our rolls. He made five different rolls that were beautiful and melted in our mouths. The seafood included salmon, shrimp, scallops, tuna, and "Chef's choice" was absolutely amazing. The service was amazing!
Usually it is a great place to eat but the last time I was there I didn’t feel good after so maybe the food wasn’t fresh.
As always excellent! Asan and the team are always top notch.
A memorable meal. Our third meal here, and we decided to learn their menu a bit more, as Masu was becoming our go-to sushi restaurant, for when we could venture out. We were well rewarded! We were able to meet the two robata chefs and get their recommedations: spicy miso momo chicken thighs and ginger beef, both on skewers, with both bursting with flavor and kick, and both excellent. We had the duck potstickers again, because we've been day dreaming about them since our last visit. We weren't too close to the sushi bar, but we saw Executive Sushi Chef Katsuyuki (Asan) come a bit near our table on some errand, and we approached and introduced ourselves and received his recommendations for the evening: some extra fatty scottish salmon toro with ponzu, topped with a slice of avocado, and an order of buttery escolar delicately garnished with fermented lemon peper (yuzu kosho). They were both outstanding. We repeated the poke futomaki from our last visit, and it didn't disappoint. I had the scallops (hotategai) which were very fresh and lightly garnished with grated lemon: one of my favorite 'guys' (with mirugai, torigai, hokkigai), but only when very fresh, as it was here. The extra little touches of expert garnish distinguish the master chef-led staff from other places that we have enjoyed meals. Masu only serves responsibly fished non-endangered species, but there is no shortage of yummy flavors available. Our served Lina was very helpful and knowledgeable, and also helped guide us with some great choices. Highly recommended. Asan is a true Ryōri-chō (master chef), but both kind (a freebie desert platter at the end), and friendly. We could not have had a better experience.
