    Delightful as always. The soft shell crab on a bed of succotash was excellent, as always. The shrimp salad was a generous offering. The wine special was interesting (a Swiss selection from Neuchatel we never would have thought to try). Our server (Hannah) was particularly pleasant. Thinks took a touch longer to get to our table than they might have, but the ambience is so pleasant that was not a problem.

    It was a great experience as it was a family oriented Food was excellent, we loved Hanna the server who was kind and tentative. We’ll be back for brunch.

    Consistently excellent. The kitchen knows how to select and prepare seafood. The specials (including the wine specials) really are special. Our scallops and rockfish on an early March evening were some of the best we've had. Portions are generous. The staff are friendly even if spread a little thin. The ambience is delightful. We always remark on leaving that we need to visit more often.

    Great ambience food and service outstanding Quiet enough to comfortably talk but still had nice background noise of other diners Food- beet salad, branzino, squash soup, apple tart all fresh and beautifully prepared Appetizers priced a little high but delicious

    Matisse delights as soon as you enter the cozy yet sophisticated dining room through a bar sparkling with lights and colorful spirits. The owner and staff are cordial and friendly, the food excellent and the daily specials worth special attention. The prices are worthy of its reputation, but not for everyday dining out-just too pricey for that. Still, it’s a special place for a special occasion.

    This was our third time dining here. The first time was our anniversary which was an incredible experience including the food, service, and ambiance. We actually enjoyed it so much we took our daughters for a family dinner. The service wasn’t as stellar but they were busy so we overlooked the experience and decided to go back for New Year’s Eve but early as to avoid the rush. I believe we were the first party to be seated where we sat for the next 10-15 minutes before anyone came over to even greet us. Which was weird because they were all standing at the bar talking. Our waiter seemed annoyed and when he came to the table it wasn’t to introduce the menu he simply said do you want to order food… umm yeah, can we start with a beverage and maybe an appetizer first? How about some bread? It was all so unprofessional. The food was bland, nothing special at all. Just disappointed and won’t return.

    Matisse is always reliable. We had the butternut squash soup, beet salad and eggplant caponata to start. All very tasty. Our entrees were the branding and the arctic char. The char was especially good as was the spaghetti squash and hte side of fries we ordered. Mango sorbet for dessert. Our server was disinterested which is unusual.

    Food and service were outstanding. The sommelier was extremely helpful. The tables were really tight and I didn’t appreciate being so close to our neighbors. That’s my only quibble.

    My ratings says most of our experience. We did, as asked, receive a window seat. The service was slow. The food has declined from pre-Covid experiences. The best I could say was we enjoyed our glass of wine. We won’t return.

    Matisse is still a very well put together restaurant; ambience is great, beautifully set up, the service was excellent, and most importantly the food was too! In these post Covid times when service can be spotty everywhere, we were treated very well, and will return.
