Max's Restaurant - Cuisine of the Philippines

Our food took around 45 mins until we got our first dish. It wasn’t Even busy. Hire more kitchen and serving staff!
The place to go if you are raving Filipino comfort food.
Carmela was a pro, together with the other crew. They took great care of our party with their happy disposition. It is apparent that they love what they were doing which seems not common in the industry so I'll say it is a welcome treat for me and my guests. Our food was ready at the time we requested it and were served in an appetizing way.
For a Friday night, the restaurant was understaffed for the amount of customers there. The service was thus inadequate and degraded the dining experience.
Great service and yummy authentic Filipino food!
The food is ok but service is very bad i never had a chance to eat maxs i booked my reservation ive been waiting and my is 715 pm and so late so we walk out they do not have good customer service so sad
Delicious dishes. Good staff.
Loud music and the ambience is nothing special.
It is our first time try out this restaurant. Great food, and good service. Waiter is very polite, informative and attentive. Food service is fast and deliver in good quality. Recommended.
Bad service. No one talk to us after we receive the food. No quality check & no water refill. I will not come back again.
We had a business lunch for 6 yesterday. It was a going away party for a colleague who we often come to Max's with for the Lechon Kawali. We had reservations. Our food came much faster than usual. Everything tasted great! The head server, a familar person to us, is always very courteous, friendly and super efficient. He always welcomes us with a smile.
Everything was great. Staff were super friendly and attentive. I just find that the price is a bit too pricey compared to others restaurants. Even compared to other Filipino restaurant.
Max's in Vancouver is nostalgic. It brings back memories from home
All the food we ordered did not have any flavour. Extremely bland for extremely expensive meal. We had to use the condiment to add flavour.
We just had the worst experience last Friday Feb 2. Me and my friends came out to try their dine out vancouver. No kidding our food came after 1.5hrs, cold and no remorse from our server for the slow service. We followed up our order several times and noticed that people around us are getting their food first even if we came way before them. So unfair and unacceptable. The sizzling tofu was cold and so with the sisig and crispy pata. Seriously lost our appetite. We waited so long for the food. Poor service! Worst experience!
Max's is a well known chain from the Philippines. They are best known for their roast chicken, but they have lots of other Filipino dishes for you to try. I purchased their Dine Out dinner meal. It was a lot of food, and had to take home leftovers. All for $20. Filipino food is not spicy like many other Asian foods, so don't worry if you cannot handle spicy. Most dishes are flavoured with vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, black pepper, or some combination of it. Filipino desserts are also really good. Usually has coconut milk in them and may have young coconut meat. The Dine Out dessert had buko (young coconut meat), mixed with pearls and nata de coco (coconut jelly cubes) in a pandan coconut milk mixture. Very tasty.
Just want to try Philippine foods and give a try again! I had a bad experience with the same restaurant ( slow to bring the food) and food was terrible. This time, I was surprised with the quick service and the food. It is worth given another try again.
4 people at the table; we each ordered 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert. We sat for 2+ hours because the wait time for everything to be delivered was unbelievable. Portions would have been decent, but after 45 min before first course arrived, everyone left hungry.
The service was good. Food came really fast, fresh and hot. If your are looking for Filipino food this is where you should go...
Pleasant decore and ambience; service friendly, prompt and anticipatory.
We were a party of 6 who had “over-eaten” but wanted to have dessert to wrap things up. We ordered their much-acclaimed Halo-halo to share and without asking for it from our server, the order came with 6 little cups and spoons that made it much easier for us to divvy things up without mess.
It’s little things like this that make a dining experience special.
Great Filipino food! Same as home
Always a pleasure when dining at Max's Restaurant. Exceptional Customer Service every time.
Miss Filipino food and this place is awesome
We had our office wind-up there. It was nice to try food from the Philippines. A first for most of us.Lots of tasty options for a family style sharing meal.
Good service
Had the dineout menu with my coworkers as it is their first time, lots of selection. Service was not good though, had to call for them every time. They didn't serve water while we waited and looked at the menu. They keep forgetting one person's dish so we would be waiting before we would eat. Not the greatest first impression for my coworkers.
food was good and our server was great considering it was very busy
definitely will go back to try other food on the menu
4 of us tried Max for dinner and ate the dine out meal. At first, the waiter was attentive, but as it got busier we were hard pressed to get his attention. He did not check back for water or for a second beer that my companion was wanting. The appies were fried, tasteless pockets which could have come from M and M meat shop. My main course, peanut beef stew, was bland as well. Our vegetarian friend was only given one option for the main, sizzling tofu, which funny enough, tasted better than our meat dishes. But no fresh veggies with the tofu, just tofu.
We will not recommend this restaurant to other friends.
Jasper our server always takes care of us and he is the main reason we eat there. The food tastes delicious as well.
They were very short staffed but the two servers there never let the stress get to them. They were very pleasant and happy all throughout lunch rush.
When we arrive, they said there was no reservation for 12 people under my name. But they were quick to accommodate us. So it was fine. Staff were very friendly and quick. They also sang happy birthday to my aunt which was great and had a complimentary ice too..
since I reserved thru opentable, we were given a seat right away. There's only few servers for a lot of customers who are dining in. My server is a nice guy. The only thing is if I have to ask for something, he is always in a hurry not even finishing what I'm saying. I do understand that we are not the only table that he handles but to the management, please hire more servers so you can serve your customers better. When I paid for my bill and given him 15% tip, he was nowhere to be seen when I have to ask for one last thing. Kinda frustrating since we have to come all the way from Seattle just to eat here.
Service was terrible. Glasses of water came after we ordered food. Our noodles came way before the rest of the dishes that we ordered and the last dish came a good 20 minutes after the first entree arrived, which was the noodles. We couldn't enjoy all the various dishes at the same time. Dessert was also slow and our request for the bill took a long time also. Not to mention we had to ask for take out containers 3 times before we finally got some. We fully understand servers can be busy during peak times but the time when we ordered dessert, requested containers and our BILL the restaurant was only 1/3rd capacity.
Great service, was given the table even if we're 10minutes early! :)
It's always a hit and mix with Max's. Food is usually pretty decent, and so is their service, but sometimes they're so slow.
Food was a little slow today even when the restaurant wasnt full. I suspect they may be under-staffed. Otherwise, quality and taste of food was as expected. Servers were all very nice too. Will definitely go back again and try some more.
We have eaten at this restaurant a few times and every time the servers were very friendly and made us and other guests feel welcome, even if we had a coupon with us. This time was no different. Our friendly server recommended a couple of dishes and even apologized when the food took a bit longer to come out than she had expected. The dishes - milkfish sisig, tofu and asparagus, and crispy pata - were delicious as usual. The crispy pata was especially mouth-watering, even though it was bad for our waistlines! We'll probably eat there again when we're in the neighborhood.
Food was excellent however it took 20 minutes before we got water and asked for our order
The food was good here, and the servers were very friendly. The decor could be improved - lighting is too bright and harsh and they could use some plants or sheers or something to give it some ambiance.
We ordered the famous fried chicken, crab fried rice and a pork belly sisig plate. The fried chicken and sisig were very dry and the rice was greasy. The restaurant was understaffed that night and drinks and orders took a long time. Also, don't bother trying to use your Open table cheque here as they have no idea what to do with it. I came with my friend hoping to use my $26 cheque and then split the cost. Instead, they took forever trying to figure out if they can accept my cheque, and then we got fed up waiting and went to pay without it. Then after they split the bill for us, the manager decides to come back and then tell us they'll accept the cheque. Not worth the hassle.
Max's is a famous chain in the Philippines best known for their chicken. It is ok here but better is the Pinoy dishes like grilled milkfish belly or bbq stick.
