Food is always great, but last night it was very poorly timed. Our appetizers took a while to come out, which is fine and understandable because the restaurant was busy, but then our meal came almost immediately afterwards. So it became a choice between eating our expensive appetizers or dinner being cold. It was a bit frustrating.
Food was not good. I spent 160 for 5 ppl. 2 didn’t eat the food.
The bar food has always been great. My first & last time for dinner.
McAdoos provides a consistent menue of consistent quality with great friendly service. One of our favorite places for good value good seafood and good service.
FOOD and Service are ALWAYS amazing! We were in the side room off the patio and it was much louder than other areas.
Amazing! McAdoo’s NEVER disappoints! Order the seafood fondue! You can thank me later! ;)
The food was great, but the chicken and waffles were on the spicy side. I love their old chicken and waffles! I love the food so I’ll get something else. I do wish they would go back to the old chicken and waffles!
Had the Saturday brunch. Everything was delijcious! Highly recommend the crab cake appetizer and the Cajun Enchiladas.
Quick service, great food!
Waiter Tipsy was outstanding.
Birthday was wonderful! Summer is an outstanding server.
Very cute establishment....located in former post office.
We go to McAdoos often for happy hour. We like their Sangrias and were a bit disappointed this time. The bartender gave a very small pour in the glass plus it had an awful lot of ice. In other words we paid for a glass of ice with a splash of Sangria. We’ll go back, but will specify, less ice.
Best part of meal was last, the dessert. Praline cheesecake was the best we’ve ever had, including New Orleans and New York.
Food and service were excellent as usual. Only wish this place were in Austin or Round Rock. I'd be there a lot more often if it were.
Everything was wonderful except the table location. Seated looking straight out front door where everyone waiting could watch us eat. A better table for two with reservations would have been much better. Food and service were awesome!
Absolutely wonderful! We went for my husbands 49th birthday and everything was amazing. We had seafood fondue for an appetizer and ordered stuffed shrimp, crawfish etoufee, fried shrimp and snow crab legs for main course with raspberry cheesecake, ice cream and creme brûlée’s for dessert. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our meal! We will definitely be back!! Even the kids loved it!!
Our OpenTable reservation specified that it was our anniversary. McAdoo's gave us a table in a noisy location facing the kitchen doors. So much for telling them it was a special occasion for us!
We should have walked out then! It got worse from there.
We love seafood, which is why we went to McAdoo's. It is supposedly the best seafood place anywhere near our part of Texas.
The shrimp gumbo we were served was barely edible. They only got the okra part of the gumbo right. We lived in New Orleans for 11 years. We know good gumbo from bad gumbo. I paid $32 for one of the least impressive salmon dinners I have ever been served. I order salmon at almost every seafood restaurant I visit. I know salmon. This piece of salmon was barely adequate and severely overpriced. My wife's trout dinner cost $32 and she complained to me that the trout tasted funny and smelled funny. She got sick when we got home.
In short, if you are eager to ruin your anniversary dinner or any other dining night, McAdoo's is perfect for memorably miserable experiences!
The waitress we had was very slow in bringing us anything we asked for. It was my husbands birthday and we brought a cake. I asked if she could bring us some forks and small plates so we could have cake. She returned about 25 minutes later with 1 plate and 6 forks. Very frustrating by this time. She never came around and offered to refill our tea. Pretty much the entire service was this way. Food was great though.
Waiter was disengaged most of the time, servers attempted 3 times to deliver mimosas to our table when we only ordered beer and Bloody Mary. It took time to for food to be served, we had to ask for bread a second and third loaf because we were hungry. After the 3rd time being enticed with Mimosa’s we decided to order some- they were good.
We had a reservation and still had to wait 35 minutes for a table. Poor planning
Noisy, over priced and not the best seafood I have ever had. Not sure I would go back. Almost impossible to have a conversation over dinner in this place. Stuffed flounder... Stuffing was supposed to have a variety of shellfish in it...instead it was simply a bread stuffing not a shrimp or piece of crab to be found in it. I never would have ordered it had I known. Lobster bisque was salty and not the rich, creamy base I am used to. Next time we make the trip to New Braunfels for dinner we will try to find something less expensive.
Thanks for a great evening with family. A bit noisy for me but otherwise okay
Couldn’t have been better, food was excellent, service outstanding. We sat outside on the patio, so the noise level was very low. Highly recommended!
Portions were a little light.
Suggest you fill the plate.
Definitely will return
Birthday celebration. Food was good as always. Love the seafood fondue!!
Even with a reservation we waited over half an hour. The walk in's had a 2 hour wait. We were seated right by the front door and there is not enough room for people coming in and congregating and waiting and for people to be sat in the same general area. Little louder than we would have liked but service was great and food was great.
We made a reservation and didn’t get sat for 45 minutes. The manager bought our appetizers to make up for it. Great service after that. What’s the point of a reservation if I have to wait almost an hour anyway?
Upon arriving, the hostess stated she was not aware of our reservation, and that they were having internet difficulties. We ended up having to wait 25 minutes. Defeated the purpose of a reservation.
Summer is a very nice wait person, - courteous. The food was slow in coming out of the kitchen. Some of our onion rings and my fried oysters were over done (very brown). My dad and I had the same order yet I had hush puppies and he didn't. No quality control. Summer took our remaining rings without asking but gave us an order to go. It was busy today at lunch so recommend the owner/manager consider hiring another chef. We literally were there an hour before our food finally came out.
Host are always courteous. Once again, Rita was an outstanding server. Oyster Rockefeller does not disappoint!
At its best, McAdoo's is an acceptable venue for seafood in this inland town. At its worst, the fish is borderline inedible. On a previous visit they did cheerfully comp a piece of fish that was truly and completely bad. Unfortunately, on this recent visit, about half of the piece was okay; after that, I couldn't find an unfishy bite anywhere. I realize it must be difficult for a single (nonchain) restaurant to command good quality fish, but they need to try something different. Preparation was okay.
We enjoyed the Seafood Fondue appetizer and fresh oysters from the Oyster bar the most.
Everything on the menu is amazing. The Gulf oysters are a great way to start.
Service was slower than what we’ve experienced here before.
Always a must for brunch when in New Braunfels
Excellent menu. Fresh food. Great atmosphere. Everyone in our party enjoyed our time there.
Beautifully restored post office venue, but it was packed & the service was slow! Our salads were good but the entrees were lacking in presentation, quality & temperature and took forever to arrive. The pontchartrain sauce was almost non-existent on the redfish & the rice was cold ... the Mahi Mahi was not blackened as I requested & was very dry, our server did not do a quality check, so we chose to just eat what we could & be on our way. We should have brought these issues to the manager's attention but he was busy serving the next table. Not a good experience at all - pricey & not great quality food!
Every single thing my family ordered was delicious. All 3 of my picky teenagers, my husband and i loved our meals. The very best seafood I have ever had. Danielle our waitress was so sweet and very very attentive.
I’ve been a few times before in the past couple of years. It was always great. Sunday's experience was very poor. If it weren’t for our great server & hostess, it would get a 1 overall. 3 of 4 of us had the Migas. They were basically tasteless and my husband’s were not even warm. All of it needed more salt than I’m used to adding. The eggs were a bit rubbery. The noise level was awful. We were seated in back left room in corner which I think should have helped but we could not hear each other.
Very disappointing from my first 3 experiences.
