Our waiter was the best hands down! Food was amazing and so were drinks!
The service was warm and inviting. We ordered amazing cocktails. Our meal was prepared in a timely manner and came out hot and delicious! Our server was accommodating I’m so happy I listened to his suggestions, bonus was he gave us a nice gift.
Can't wait to go back! Our server Pedro was invaluable as we were first timers. He explained everything and made tons of great recommendations. So enjoyable! Quite a bit more upscale than your average strip-mall Thai place but totally worth it. In addition to the typical items you'll find they has wild boar chops, venison and bison. I had the wild boar in a yellow curry and my husband had the bison tenderloin in a red curry. We didn't stop oohhhing and ahhhing!! GO, EAT AT THIS GREAT PLACE!
Merlion is our favorite restaurant. Food is wonderful as well as the service.
Some of the food in the Clear Lake area. A most eat. Make sure to ask about the heat!
Our experience was fantastic! Our waitress was Kirby and she was so informative on every dish that we asked about! As well as the wines! I got the Raad Prick with filet and it was to die for! Extremely flavorful and will definitely order again. My fiancé got the green curry dish (can’t remember the exact name) and he also raves about it. We will 100% be back. No questions asked. Thank you Kirby for an awesome night!!
We have been going to Merlion for a couple of years and this was our best experience yet! Our server could not have been any better. We ordered the chef's table and it was delicious. It comes with 5 courses of the chef's choosing and he did not disappoint. It started with a lamb chop, next were the 2 different soups they offer, next two salads one of which was a papaya salad. It was the best salad I have ever eaten! We next had a mediterranean sea bass in a road prick sauce and lamb in a ginger sauce. We finished our meal with mango sticky rice. My least favorite item was the mango sticky rice and that was because the mango was not ripe. Can't wait to go back next time and try chef's table again to see what Andrew will make! Thanks for making our anniversary dinner special!!
My husband and I visited Merlion for our three year wedding anniversary dinner. While we do eat here somewhat regularly we were surprised by a decorated table, free dessert and a free bottle of champagne to take home from the restaurant because it was our anniversary. The food here is always outstanding, there Tom Ka soup cannot be beat, and I recommend the Chef Signature Dish as an entree
Great place with awesome staff
Wonderful evening with our daughter and son-in-law. In the Seabrook/Kemah area, Merlion's provides a nice venue that has a good wine list and a menu.
My favorite Thai restaurant did not disappoint. I went with my wife for my birthday and ordered the signature special. I substituted Chilean sea bass for the red snapper. It also comes with scallops and mussels. It was fantastic as were the dragon fire dumplings I had as an appetizer. The hot and sour soup with shrimp was also delightful. Chef Andrew always does a fantastic job and his staff is top notch. I highly recommend Merlion to anyone who wants to experience Thai food at its finest.
Best Thai food quality ever had and that is saying alot! This is our new favorite Seabrook goto place. You will not be disappointed and every dish Chef Andrew makes will make you wonder why you did not try that one first!
Great local place to eat.
Food was amazing as usual!
We truly enjoy visiting this restaurant.
Wonderful restaurant. We went there to celebrate my birthday. The table was set with fresh flower pedals and sparkling decorations.
Food and service was excellent. They also gave us a bottle of Champagne to celebrate the occasion.
We’ll be going back!
When you walk in the entrance of Merlion, you're greeted by a nice hostess who's waiting to help you. You can't help but notice the unusual "MerLion" on the wall and the double-sliding doors on a rail that lead you into the bar and restaurant. There's a wonderful bar with soft blue ambient lighting under the bar and bar tables. We love that there's always an upbeat music playing as you pass the bar into the dining room. On this visit we started with the Por Pia Thai eggrolls, filled with crab. They are always served piping hot and crisp, accompanied by a fruity plum or pineapple sauce. We also love the fantastic martini's here, as well. Try a Cosmopolitan or Apple Martini; they make them perfectly here. For our main course we went directly for the Pad Med Mammuang. We are admittedly kinda' stuck on this dish because of the wide variety of vegetables and hoison flavored sauce. This specialty includes water chestnuts, pea pods, mushrooms, cashews, and a few other wonderful veggies as well. I always order mine with shrimp and scallops, and a spice level of 2/5. My Wife usually orders hers with chicken, and a milder spice level of 1/5. We keep telling each other that we're going to try another dish next time, but we absolutely love this dish. Be sure to take advantage of their extensive wine list, and try one with your dinner. Each time we come, we try a wine that we have not had previously. This time was no exception, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Browne Family Heritage Cabernet; it was fantastic. Depending on what "vibe" you prefer, there's a brighter-side dining room and a more subdued darker-side dining room, which are both comforting and relaxing. We've come to know and love all of the waitresses and waiters here as well. Look for Kirby, Justin, Kaitlyn, Kelly, or Dariann. They are all wonderful, and will take great care of you. PS: The Curry Thai dishes here will rock your World as well. This is our hidden gem in Seabrook!
The food was 5-star, however the bill was a little hard to swallow as the cost of the meal was not explained to us at $45 a plate, the price was too high for a special. But again food was great!
Excellent first visit. Great service. Lovely ambiance, works well for date night or a group of friends. Food is first rate, not too salty.
The food here is the best! Their new location is so much better than the old one. The service was great as well. I highly recommend Merlion
On our latest trip to Merlion, we started with an appetizer of the Por Pia (crab) egg rolls, which were absolutely delicious. Dariann, our waitress, was very sweet and polite in helping us pick a nice wine to go with our dinner. In fact, Dariann was the first person to wait on us for our very first two dinner experiences at Merlion a couple of years ago. I was amazed that she remembered us so well, down to every detail of what type of wines we prefer, and what appetizers we usually like. We received our dinner meals (Pad Med Mammahuang) promptly, and both were prepared exactly to our liking. I ordered my dinner with a spice level of 2 out of 5. While my hair has been thinning, I woke up the next morning with a full head of hair, from the spices! (Just kidding) On the rare occasions when our Son comes with us, he orders his dish with a spice level of 5 out of 5! I'm surprised he hasn't burnt his tongue off already! My Wife and Daughter order their dishes with a tame spice level of 1 out of 5. We keep returning to Merlion for the wonderful atmosphere, excellent service and delicious Thai dishes. We even discussed maybe coming here for a nice New Year's Eve dinner, if they're open for the occasion.
Meeting with Friends!!!!
Overall very pleased with the food at Merlion, the food makes the visit worth it. Our server was very sweet and attentive. And all the staff had a good attitude.
The reason for the theee stars is mainly the cleanliness level of the dishes. We had several dirty plates, knives and forks on the table. One of the water cups had some kind of food particles floating in it before anyone took a sip. Every time we brought it up to the server she was kind and replaced them. It’s understandable to have a dirty fork every once in awhile at a restaurant.
However, for the price levels of the food we thought finding so many dirty dishes was unacceptable.
Thank you for letting me know. I will be taking this up with the kitchen today. I apologize and you are correct it should never happen. Thank you for your business and rest assured the issue will be handled. Brooke
My Wife and I keep a list of all the restaurants we have dined at around the Houston area. Our list is well over 350 restaurants, so far. Merlion is one of the very few restaurants that we repeatedly return to for an excellent dining experience. We usually book a reservation for three, since we try to get our daughter to attend with us. But she's hit her early twenties now, and likes to hang out with her own friends. But on our latest outing here, our waiter Justin took very good care of us. We both shared the chicken satay and the tempura fried seafood for appetizers, and they were both excellent. We also shared a couple of excellent martinis; a Cosmopolitan, and an Apple martini. Both drinks were prepared just perfectly. (Look out Kirby; Justin's got you in a neck and neck race for best martinis!) We love the service, creative Thai fare, and the subdued atmosphere with beautiful artwork on the walls. The wait staff on the darker, more formal side of the restaurant here, really have service to impeccable standards.
Ask for Kirby, Kelly, Katelyn, or Justin when dining here. They are all fantastic. As longtime residents of Seabrook, we love this restaurant and will keep coming back again and again. And don't forget to try a great wine; they have a very eclectic wine list here, to suit any palate.
Fabulous dinner, excellent service by Kirby. I wish we lived closer. This would be our go-to place.
Great place for dates and small group celebrations. I love the signature dish, it is a must try.
A very exciting addition to the food choices south of Houston. The flavors were amazing! I highly recommend Merlion and will be going back.
Food and service was excellent. Wine selection was great. Food was adjusted to the American palate.
This was my first time at the new place. It did not disappoint!!!! The food was still amazing and the wine selection exceptional. You cannot go wrong with the restaurant
The noise level was high for an enjoyable dinner. One server would close the sliding doors and another one open them and leave them open. The food was good but a bit overpriced. The drinks were really overpriced. I’d go back but not too soon. I can eat just as good Thai food other places for less money.
First time to eat at Merlion. It was delicious! Wendy was our waitress and she was very helpful! We enjoyed everything from the Dragon Fire dumplings, New Zealand Mussels, goat cheese Thai salad and Raad Prick (Panko crusted red snapper). Happy hour continues all day on Sunday and even extends into the dining room. It was a great experience and we plan to return!
Wow!! Blown away!!
We visited Merlion during Houston restaurant week on a Friday night. We made a reservation and were seated promptly during our reserved time. Prior to being seated, we sat at the bar for a drink and Liz took care of us. My husband had an old fashioned and I wanted something spicy so Liz recommended a jalapeño lemon drop (not on menu but divine!). We both thoroughly enjoyed Liz's hospitality!
I had the dragon fire dumplings from the Houston restaurant week and it was AMAZING!! The broth it's in, omg! Fantastic. Don't think, just order it!
Hubby ordered the pad Thai with sirloin and he said it's the BEST he's ever had!! I had the chicken panang curry with avocado and bamboo shoots. Omg it's so good. I'm wondering what took us so long to try this place and can't wait to return!!!!
Thank you so much we appreciate your business...
Great food! The waiter offered great suggestions and provided good service.
Here for HRW, took 3 hours from start to finish. Service was poor, however food was good.
I know it’s a great restaurant, but this experience was not the best. Although we were in no rush, the service was very very slow. My friend ordered her food “negative heat”, meaning she didn’t want basically any spice, and I myself enjoy spice and said mine would be ok. Well, my food showed up completely plain, zero seasoning spice anything, and hers was spicy as heck! Was just an off night for them I think.
Always THE BEST!!
Normal night at Merlion - food was awesome, service was outstanding, and we had a good bottle of wine. No one ever hurries you out the door. Enjoyable evening.
We celebrated wife's B-Day & our anniv. Most importantly, our food was great. It was our 1st Thai Food experience. We will return, there are more menu items we want to try. Our server Kirby did an outstanding job of making our evening enjoyable. She decorated our table and personally made sure our needs were met. Thanks again for a great evening.
Awesome food as always!
