Merrill & Houston’s Steak Joint

Bruschetta was a doughy mess topped with diced tomatoes. Service was slow. Waiter spilled half of a $9 drink. Steak was good - sides were average and not memorable. For the price - there are better options.

Food was great, service great. Wish I would have requested better seating. First time here and we were sat at table right by bar. The main part of restaurant looked cozy with nice lighting. We certainly weren’t in that environment.

Great food and atmosphere for quiet dinner as we were seated in an adjoining room though the bar area was quiet too on a Monday evening. Availability of smaller portions was a benefit we appreciated also.

Pricey, but service and ambience are good and there were no ‘Karens’ to speak of.

We don’t dine often but we are coming back. The atmosphere is amazing the food and drinks are phenomenal. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Snuck away to Merrill & Houston's Steak for a late anniversary getaway/dinner on the recommendation of a friend. We were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, food was incredible and wait staff outstanding. We will be returning soon, and often !!!!

My family and I love Merrill and Houston’s and eat there often. My only complaint is that I wished they offered a vegetable for a substitute instead of potatoes only. We have diabetics in our family.

Menu was not like online..very limited appetizer choices, very loud band playing. Steak was undercooked, sent back but potatoes and meat were still not hot when I got it 2nd time but didn’t want to complain a 2nd time. Dessert menu very limited also. Bread was best part. Creme Brûlée was good too. Onion strings were also cold and mushrooms were cold hiding under onion strings.

My steak was amazing. I have never experienced a steak that melts.in your mouth. The service was great and the room itself was elegantly decorated for Christmas. All in all, so glad I got to experience this restaurant.

The food and service (by Liz) were top notch. The drinks were pricey and but I was surprised by the additional charge for the soup ($5.95) which I thought was included with my well priced entree.

The food is out standing. In the area some may feel the steaks are a bit high, but the quality is second to none. The staff is great, always ask for Madison as a server, she is simply the best! /the only improvement I could see is the bring down the drink prices more in line with others, the Velvet Buffalo as well. It is really to bad it doesn't do lunches, especially with a hotel attached and doesn't have bar bites earlier than 5:00?

The wait staff were excellent. There was a bit of a longer wait time than expected between the time our appetizer order was taken and when we received the appetizers. The food was good to very good, although the blackened scallops were too salty for my taste, as was the steak, and the soup. The brownie dessert was excellent. Although it was a pleasant experience we felt the cost of the meal was much higher than the value and taste of our meals.

From the moment we walked in the door the service was second to none. The whole staff did an outstanding job. The food was absolutely amazing. I would recommend anyone to go and enjoy a night at Merrill and Houston’s!!!

This is our third time eating here. I think tonight the food was just a little off. The scallops were a little bit chewy. The asparagus wrapped in bacon was a little over done. The other times for food has been fantastic and we will still be coming back.

We were seated in the patio type area, which is heated but not well if you are extremely a cold blooded person like my wife. The place wasn't busy so it might be nice to ask the patrons their preference prior to seating when it's cold out. We both got the Prime rib special. The steak was cooked well but out of the 12oz steak, 4 to 5 oz were fat. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. They asked the group in front of us if they were celebrating anything and I heard the other waitresses ask at least two other tables if they were celebrating anything but ours never did ask. The creme brulle was also cold in the center. We've been here a few times before and is a nice place. This was probably the worst of our experiences here. I will go back, just hope there are more of the good experiences than bad.

Food is always delicious. Happy to see the patio turned into a new 3 season room. Very comfortable; Spaced properly from other guests.

Good food, nice ambiance and at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend the Works ribeye.

The steaks at M&H never disappoint. I had the NY strip with au gratin potatoes and it was delicious.

Service was spot on! Steaks are very good. Great for business, pleasure. Bar staff was very knowledgeable about the bourbon selection! Competitive Steak House! This joint can compete with Milwaukee and Chicago steak houses.

Food and service were both excellent!!
Tables set up to maintain social distancing and the staff clearing tables did a great job cleaning and sanitizing including the chairs when people left.
