After dining here several times and also getting our Christmas dinner to go, this experience lacked in their fall menu entrees not being available but listed on their menu. The scallops and their ravioli were not available that Sunday evening dinner for a birthday celebration. My friend wound up ordering their potato encrusted striped bass which was a disappointment. It was more of the potato stuffing, could not find or taste the fish at all but the crunchy skin part of the fish. It was returned and replaced with salmon which was tasty. The warm apple strudel dessert was delicious. I will be going back but would call first to check to see what’s not on the menu.

After more than 10 years of dining here, another excellent meal for my wife's 70th birthday with the family. You will not be dissapointed.

We just had our second visit within 2 weeks to the Metuchen Inn. We loved it so much we had to come back. Had a wonderful meal with even more wonderful wine. Also had a lovely discussion of wines with the owner Constantine. Beautiful space. The service is good, not great. The servers could use a bit more polish. Overall a wonderful place though.

We celebrated a birthday on this evening...wouldn’t dream of a special occasion any place else. With the fireplace, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Everyone is service oriented. Jose, the maitre d’ makes each patron feel like a valued guest. While there are many restaurants with good food, no place treats patrons like the royalty they are made to feel here. This evening we started with the steamy clams in white wine...excellent and the small clams that we love. Entrees were the halibut and a special of almond crusted salmon. Both fish were super fresh and prepared perfectly. We had to indulge in dessert...chocolate bread pudding must delectable....warm with some vanilla ice cream. I wonderful ending to an excellent dinner.

Always a good experience. Very consistent and the service is excellent.

My only comment is that we asked that our dishes be staggered and not come all at once. Three of four came at the same time. I had to ask them to slow it down.

A-Special unexpected NYE DATE 12/31/20
Wanted to try the Inn . I had heard it was a lovely restaurant to experience. And my date and I are considered discerning foodies).

First . We were seated at a table directly next to the entrance door .. ( appeared to be placed last minute)!
Which placed us in the barren bar Area. And continual cold drafts from the entrance door !
We were disappointed that there was a special 4 course limited menu ,which was not noted in their website , nor here on open table .
One of us is a vegetarian. So that is always a concern when making a decision where to dine.
So we were forced at that point to chose a costly meal , with a limited choice .

When we both chose to just cheat on this special nite , the meal we both were hoping to dine on , was no longer available, to either of us.
With a limited menu as it was. We had to settle on choices we were not particularly interested in having !
There should been no excuse ,for shortage of one of the few fish options , We wanted to enjoy.

The presentation of the food , table clearance and attention to our needs throughout the meal were subpar .

No sincere efforts made for our inconveniences and disappointments , for the rushed , and inattentive service.

And absolutely No NYE DECOR EFFORTS , nor any offer of a small parting token, to present Appreciation of support. No attempt to leave us with a grateful feeling for a desired interest to want to return again in the New Year!

Instead our dessert was rushed , our dinner check was presented to be paid as it was served, due to COVID early 10 pm departure rules.

They should have not taken any seatings after 7 pm, not 8 as we were given, seated in an uncomfortable location & misrepresent the dinner menu on there sites.

It was the least festive , cheerless , misleading Holiday dining experience, we both had ever experienced.

Thankful for the good food and wonderful joy of each other’s company... that made the Happy New Year!!

Wonderful Christmas Celebration and wife's birthday celebration. Food was excellent. Drinks are very good and fairly priced. Server was good but not as good as other servers we've had in the past. Overall a great experience, highly recommend.

Christmas dinner was very special.... surrounded by the warm ambience and the welcoming like were are important family members. Jose, the maitre d, sets the tone for each guest to feel special. We were thrilled to see George, our favorite server. The first Christmas dinner in 46 years that I haven’t cooked and hosted.... no other restaurant would have been as excellent spot as here.

Food was fabulous. We shared mushroom ravioli and crab cake for appetizer. The short rib was great as was the halibut. The atmosphere was so nice with the fireplace and it made for a terrific place to celebrate Christmas Eve. The desserts were scrumptious as well. We shared the mango sorbet and the creme brulee was excellent. * Five stars for sure

The food was delicious , as was the presentation. Decorated elegantly for the holidays but keeping safe distancing in mind for all.

The food was very good. The ambiance was really nice. I really liked the set up it looked really pretty. The service was very good and everyone was very nice..I would highly recommend to other people to go for dinner.

Great food, great atmosphere. We ate outside, where they have fire pits and heaters. We'll continue to request out door seating even after the pandemic is over.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who easily engaged in conversation and made us feel welcome. Upon knowing of our special occasion, he provided us with champagne which was a rather generous treat. Potato gnocchi was pillowy goodness. Butternut squash ravioli was fall on a plate and tuna special was cooked to perfect with a delicious sauce. Cocktails were perfect. Can’t wait to go back

Tasty and beautifully prepared and presented food ((lobster bisque is amazing). Helpful attentive staff. Even amidst COVID enforced difficulties, the Metuchen Inn is welcoming and clearly presents a safe space.

Outstanding service, food and ambiance
Not cheap but well worth it

This is our favorite spot for a celebration. Ambiance and food are wonderful, what sets metuchen inn apart is the level of service. Maitre d’ Jose welcomes each guest as a VIP. His recall of names, faces and even favorite wine makes us feel special. We started with shrimp cocktail. I like how it is served in a martini glass with thin tortilla strips. The sauce is nice and hot as we prefer. We both chose a special of black bass, as described as the chef’s new favorite. The fish was perfectly prepared, is white and delicate. A lovely birthday dinner!

As usual, everything was excellent. Place is consistently good which is the biggest obstacle for a restaurant.

Great food and they did a nice job with the outdoor space during covid 19.

Overall experience was excellent from appetizer to dessert.
My compliments to the Chef. The pork osso bucco was fall off the bone. The sauce was delicious and it just complimented the dish. My friend had the pork chop and was done to perfection. For dessert- pumpkin cheese cake was delicious-light creamy, not so sweet. Apple strudel was delectable. Perfectly balance with the sweetness and tartness to it. Our waiter Mark went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was perfect. Thank you Mark for your kindness.

First time here and certainly not the last! Excellent from the service to the food! We were very impressed and will be back again soon!

Birthday celebration

Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Tuna/crab tower appetizer delicious.
"Champagne" brought at end of meal was not very good, not drinkable. Nice gesture, though.

I LOVE IT HERE. IT IS MY FAV! FOOD IS GREAT! DRINKS ARE GREAT! SERVICE IS GREAT!
