Mica is consistently a very good restaurant with undeniable elegance. The service was excellent, the staff was congenital and the food was very good. Someone at my table ordered the lamb entree which was practically uncooked (he likes his lamb very rare, so that’s not an issue). Still, it was a good meal overall. We will definitely go back again.
Just amazing and go with whatever the chef suggests, you won’t be let down. Some of the best food and flavors I’ve ever had in the states. Closest comparison to European country side/ farm cuisine. Top shelf everything and top marks to entire staff and facility. Very laid back and not up tight at all. BYOB a major bonus!
Wow. Wonderful. Lovely.
As always, our dinner at Mica was perfect. We had the pork shoulder, the cauliflower, and the chicken as entrees. All were delicious. Two of us had the celery root soup, which we would highly recommend. Desserts also excellent. And, since it’s a BYOB, we always love the wines. Thanks again.
Everything I had was great, hostess and service was nice, definitely wanna come back
Mica is a gem: a warm--if slightly noisy--neighborhood restaurant serving inventive, attentively-prepared and delicious food with a prix-fixe menu that suits different price points (and appetites). Highlights were the beet salad, with beets shaved into glistening, paper-thin slices, and an entree of cauliflower cooked in a sous vide, then basted with sour cherry juice and served over a sticky, dark sauce (thanks to a few drops of squid ink) made from truffles. It was earthy, vegetal, slightly sweet and altogether delectable. Our server, though busy, was happy to answer questions and explain the chef's preparations.
The $40 3 course prix fixe is a fair deal depending on what you order. The dishes are well prepared and presented although the combinations are not always successful. They could do better in vegetable accompaniment which were minimal - at least in what we ordered. The BYOB option is great for wine lovers. It can get pretty noisy when it's full.
I came with someone who has lived out of Philadelphia for almost twenty years, and she LOVED it. As of course I did, too. The food was superb, the waitress wonderful. Bravo! And we actually liked the BYOB policy because it saved money.
the new menu is very nice, but the prix fixe is confusing. I hope that gets clarified. I’d be happy to have 2 courses instead of 3. I thought the desserts were the weakest part of the menu.
Food and service were both excellent. Was a bit more noisy than expected (we were in main front room) based on descriptions, but overall a great experience.
Second time there and food was just as good as the first time. A bit noisy, nothing to absorb noise. Waiter was made aware of one person in our group who is gluten free and he was outstanding in making sure that all wheat preparations were removed, and substitutes made.
I had the crudo and the chicken which were both excellent. One of our party ordered the salmon which came adorned with mushrooms which wasn’t stated on the menu. Apparently she hates mushrooms. They were kind enough to take it away and made a new entree but the rest of the party was finishing their meal when the replacement dish arrived. She ended up sending it back because of the delay. Her issues took away from the specialness of the evening. I love Mica, we live in CH and visit Mica often. Tonight wasn’t good but the restaurant wasn’t at fault.
We love Mica. The food and service on top-notch. We both enjoyed the Hudson Valley menu. The preparation were unique and delicious.
Mica is a lovely and comfortable little spot for a truly delicious meal. My crispy skin salmon and creamed corn entree was actually the most delicious salmon I’ve ever had—cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Our server was friendly and attentive. We shall return!
Always excellent food and top notch service. I wish they could do something about the noise level plus change out the standard menu more often but it’s still one of our favorite places.
This was our third trip to Mica for three separate and special occasions and each visit proved better than the previous one. We are impressed at the efficiency that we see as restaurant patrons, the interesting selection of food choices, specifically for the two chefs tastings.
Finally, Sylvia, our most gracious server is one of the best I have ever encountered in several decades of dining out, and I have travelled extensively.
Amazing food and ambiance!
My husband and I had the best tasting menu. Our server was very pleasant but there was a lot of delay between courses. It was evident that the food was though fully prepared but the oysters and shrimp roe (an ingredient in the pasta dish) were both too fishy. The other flavors were carefully planned and executed. The meal for two took almost 2.5 hours. We were, however, pleasantly surprised when the server brought us a $50 gift certificate!
We will go back and try the regular menu.
Great meal and excellent service!
5 star roast chicken entree and chocolate torte dessert, excellent service by Sean
Chestunt Hill is beautiful and I read good things about this restaurant, however the food was uneven. Our starter salad had huge whole leaves, which made it difficult to eat, but the dressing was very nice. Our other appetizer was a crab beignet...oily, decent flavor, no crab. My husband's pork entree was delicious, but my entree of scallops was accompanied by a confusing pickle cut in pieces - pickle flavor doesn't blend well with a seafood curry - and the scallops were rubbery. The curry sauce itself seemed oily and lacked flavor. Given my expectations and decent reviews, I was quite disappointed!
Everything was good. The pork chop entree and the fruit soup appetizer were particularly delicious. Also the jalapeno dashi the tuna came in. So many good flavors! The wife and I loved it. Our waiter was 5 stars and super attentive.
Food is always delicious, and vegetarian options are just as good as meat based food. The back yard patio is much prettier than before. Waiter was unsure about some of the ingredients, even as basic as what soup was made of. But staff was pleasant.
The staff provide excellent professional service. The food creations are always amazing and delicious.
We had the tasting menu and was surprised and pleases with each course. Service was excellent! Noise level was a bit high but full of happy conservations.
A date with my wife — and everything was totally perfect. Thank you
Too noisy which would be unavoidable in that space - food was very enjoyable but we felt that they could have at least given half a dozen oysters rather than stopping at five. It just would have been an easy way for the restaurant to leave us with a better feeling. We enjoyed our dinner much but might have appreciated a couple more entree choices. If we get back to the area we would probably return to the restaurant and would recommend it to others
Very pleasant in every way!
Mica was one of our favorite restaurants. We went a few times a month. Our recent visit was tasty but the serving was small and the cost was high.
I would rate Mica 5 stars if it were a better value. Prices are steep, but we know that before showing up there. Food is excellent but portions are small so you could well end up ordering 3 courses. Being BYOB helps a lot, though and much of the cuisine is quite rich/French so you end up feeling reasonably satisfied. We were there on a relatively quiet weeknight but the service was excellent. All in all, a good special occasion choice.
This is the third time we were at MICA. We were wowed the first and the noise was a little bit of an issue. Food was great and wine was great. The second time the noise level was better it switched to a BYOB which is always appreciated by me, but the food was OK. It was really crowded and I wonder if the staff was just a little overwhelmed. This third time was the charm, staff was amazing, food was beautiful. The albacore tuna dish was one of the best we had ever had, eating sushi internationally this is saying a lot. Both entree were also well executed and presented beautifully.
This place is fabulous. I don't know why I haven't been here in 9 months, I should come here once a week. Everything food was to die for, and service too. OMFG.
The eggplant and duck was Most delicious meal ive had in Philadelphia
We really enjoyed the six course tasting menu. Our wait staff were wonderful and very helpful. The food was amazing.
Went for Chestnut Hill restaurant week, Mica has been on the “ to do” list for some time as it has been rated as on of the area’s top restaurants for some time. The food was quite tasty, had the tomato and ricotta appetizer which was fresh and tasty, the salmon was cooked just right , served with a tomato coulis and a polenta side dish. The chocolate torte dessert hit all the right notes without being over sweet. The presentation was on point and wait staff quite accommodating. It’s also a BYOB, which is great to bring your favorite wine in while helping to keep the total, cost down. We sat in the back deck area which we lucked out with a perfect August night not being too humid,Mathew indie seating are looked quite cozy. Everyone enjoyed their meals and agreed a definite place to revisit! Great for a date night or larger group
The food is always delicious and as this was restaurant week, especially good value. Melon soup was outstanding as were the desserts. Skirt steak was perfectly prepared and pasta dish had a tasty sauce altho the pasta itself was a little uneven and clumpy. As usual, the wait staff was lovely and attentive, the setting comfortable.
I love Mica and I’m so lucky to live nearby
We were there to celebrate a special anniversary and we ordered the chefs tasting menu and it was amazing!! Our server was fantastic and super accommodating. It was a wonderful dinner celebration!
