My daughter chose this restaurant for her 15th birthday. It was perfect from the small plates to the dessert.
We loved the outdoor patio! Excellent experience. Attentive staff members and good food.
Good was great and backroom is perfect for outdoor dining.
Food was delicious but small portions. Outdoor seating was good except for the fact that we were sat close to the outside and was freezing. Asked for another seat but host said it was reserved . All the other seats were close to a heater . Waiter was great
So we’ve been dining at Mistral for a little over 6 years. Since the change in management it’s steadily gone downhill food wise. The service is excellent I would say 95% of the time maybe even more. The quality of the food has also gone down a bit. The creativity is there but the execution just isn’t. We still go back because there’s really nothing in princeton to choose from. It’s sad and extremely frustrating that we don’t have better quality here, I’d rather drive to Philly or NYC and know I’ll get an exceptional meal every time. Mistral needs to step it up.
Outstanding food and service! Particularly under these circumstances, such quality food and service are few and far between. We are extremely grateful for such a remarkable bday celebration!
Sunday brunch outstanding.
Indoor seating very accommodating.
Besides the food being great, the place had a great vibe.
The outdoor seating was ideal and made us feel comfortable and safe. There is also heating lamps and a beautiful fire pit. The food was flavorful and presented beautifully.
Great ambience and good portion sizes, not a huge lettuce pile but not a tiny leaf centered in the plate either. Service was a bit slow but it was a busy night so it was understandable. Overall, great experience.
Best was the schnitzel. Scallops, steak tartar, butterscotch dessert just okay. This was our first time in Princeton, so would not know of another place to recommend.
Excellent well crafted menu. The food was very well done. Four courses plus cocktails for $100 is very reasonable for the quality of the food.
Not happy. Food was generally over garnished. Most of dishes were over salted. Tempura Mushrooms were good but, had a bunch of random tempura chunks with no mushroom content at bottom of bowl. Couldn't taste the brussels sprouts due to heavy char and spices. Service with Mike was spot on. very attentive without being over bearing. Outside seating area was lovely.
Celebrated a birthday. Waiter was great, nice and very responsive. Food was outstanding.
Food and drinks were very good, will definitely be back
Food was outstanding - both appetizers and entrees were unique and delicious. Each dish had an incredible combination of ingredients, spices, and sauces. While the food was pricey - it also was better than most if not all other restaurants in downtown Princeton.
A good food place is where all the senses are treated well - visual, sensory, touch as well as smell - Mistral is a place that gets it together well. We loved it...the food we ordered, the way it was served and the conversations that followed...will come again :-)
Best outdoor seating in town. Food excellent. A bit expensive.
So thrilled to be able to enjoy the outdoor patio in front of the fire (early January) for a friend’s birthday dinner. Everything from being seated, service, food and ambience were excellent.
We had a nice time, wonderful atmosphere, food was delicious but the menu could have had more choices.
As always, Mistral did not disappoint. Being able to sit a high-top next at the bar allowed us to almost forget about the pandemic.
Food for the most part was outstanding - however, two items were a disappointment. The Seared Fois Gras was a mess and the Beef Tartare on a burnt toast was almost humorous. Thank goodness for the amazing cocktails that allowed us to laugh off the two plates and enjoy the meal and night out.
Overall - Mistral is a gem in Central Jersey and we are truly fortunate to have available for our dining experience.
We came for a birthday dinner and it was literally one of the best meals of my life. The food was artistry. The ambience was perfect. The outdoor dining that they have set up is so cozy and comfortable, it’s still safe. It was the perfect evening.
Absolutely love this place. This is our goto place for any special occasions or even everyday dining. Great Brunch options and the best dinner menu.
Patio was enclosed and heaters kept it warm. Food was excellent. Enjoyed the brunch.
The food is always stellar and the place has good vibe. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was the hostess could have handled our request better when asked for seating next to the fireplace . Also when we told our waiter the drink is light on bourbon, he was defensive and when we asked if we could get some bourbon to add to the drink he said will have to pay extra. We spent $500 a night for party of 4 and would have expected better customer experience.
Great experience for new years!
Excellent NYE menu - short ribs ... tuna ... crab cakes were all perfection. Great service! The enclosed patio was beautiful but a bit chilly. Too bad they can put up a velvet curtain or something in the entryway ... maybe a heat lamp by each table. Still a lovely bye-bye-2020 meal!
Great experience, the food was outstanding and the service was fantastic, we will definitely be coming back.
Great evening, service was exceptional, but the noise level was very loud, we had a hard time hearing ourselves.
Loved the food, friendly and attentive staff and loved the atmosphere. Excited for my next trip!
The food was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I dined here for our anniversary and it was a pleasant evening. It wasn’t crowded and there are separators between the tables due to covid, which made us feel very comfortable. Our waiter was very friendly. We started off with oysters which were fresh and tasty. We then shared the crab stuffed mushrooms which also didn’t disappoint. The hollandaise sauce had a citrus finish, balancing out the creaminess of the sauce. For our entrees, I got the cod fish and my boyfriend had the wagyu steak. They were both divine and we tried each other’s plates too. We were so impressed with every dish that came out and when it came to dessert, it also did not disappoint. We commented all night on every dish. For dessert we ordered the lime posset and it was the perfect finishing touch to our dinner. It’s creamy, crunchy, and cold, while sweet and sour, all at the same time. That’s what I’d have to say was the best part of every dish at Mistral, the combination of flavors and textures that left you always guessing what you’d taste next in every bite and simply wanting more. We will be going back soon!
Very good, outdoor dining with good social distancing and reasonably warm despite freezing temperatures, sure to their twenty with radiant heaters. Delicious cocktails, including a hot version of the Cincinnati. Oysters and tuna ceviche were truly memorable.
Food, staff and atmosphere were terrific. A wonderful dining experience!
Had a great lunch. Awesome service, lovely brunch menu, terrific experience.
Excellent food and plating ; favorite spot in Princeton
Our server was great, very attentive & friendly. The food was fresh & plated nicely. The one thing I'm bothered by is that 1 of my dishes had a circular crack like that piece was coming off soon & 1 bowl had a huge chunk missing off the edge. We were told that broken dishes don't get thrown away & for a couple of reasons that's not satisfactory. For one, smaller pieces could come off in the food & bacteria can be in there because the seal is broken & gone. The other reason is that this isn't a cheap diner, it's an expensive restaurant & I expect dinnerware that reflects that, not broken dishes! Besides that, the wagyu beef was especially delicious & tender. The oysters & crab cake were great & the ham and cheese beignets were good. I'd say pass on the apple & cheese puff pastry & the tuna, while tender, just had too much going on. The honey drink was tasty.
Can’t go wrong.
Love the food and ambiance!
Mariano was our waiter and was wonderful. We sat outside by the fire and had a lovely brunch in spite of its being 35 degrees outside!
