Mon Ami Gabi - Reston
We thought the meals were expensive for the dinners that were offered. One party's steak frites was OK to start, but then became un-edible half way through the portion. Vegetables were indifferent, but the mac and cheese was good (sot of like Annies). The blueberry dessert was very good. The service was OK through to ordering food, but was lackluster toward the end of the meal.
Food was delicious and we all walk away content with full bellies every time. Since it was Father’s Day, we were given a complimentary brownie to our dad which was amazing.
Excellent food and service for Fathers Day Brunch! Our waiter was attentive and helpful, guiding our choices. My picky husband and son were completely satisfied with eggs benedict and steak frites. The andouille sausage on my benedict was spicy and delicious. We finished with deserts - chocolate mousse was a clear hit with my son, while my husband and I shared the blueberry bread cobbler. The visit reminded me of how much I enjoy Mon Ami Gabi and made me want to visit more frequently. My only concern was the noise level. It would have been more relaxing if the noise level could be reduced by a few notches.
Father’s Day breakfast.
Had an issue with eggs Benedict. Over poached. They were hard boiled.
Not just my plate, on another member of my party’s plate. She sent hers back and got new ones which one was over cooked and the other was undercook. I sent mine back and refused for another order. Didn’t want people at the table to wait and have their food get cold while I waited. So I sat there starving on Father’s Day.
We used to like coming here because you never behaved like a chain restaurant. Evidently, things have changed. We won’t be back.
Enjoyed outdoor seating! Delicious!
What a special evening celebrating our 32nd anniversary. Our server brought two glasses of champagne for a toast. Thank you.
Had a Thursday lunch at noon, my wife and I. Pros: Restaurant decor and ambiance, friendly efficient service, large portions (for those who like that), loaf of French bread to munch on right away, good wines. Cons: We only had the mushroom-chicken-brie crepe and the fish sandwich with frites. They were fine, but sort of bland. The fish sandwich had two very large lightly-battered sections, either one would have been enough for lunch. The huge crepe itself tasted real good, as did the brie, but the chicken and mushrooms were overwhelmed by brie and cream and mostly it was very mushy and not very interesting, except for the very tasty crepe itself. Still, it was a very enjoyable lunch. We've been a few times before and always enjoy it, and we do hope to be back again before very long.
Busy lunch day with a large group and service was on point. Fancy cafe decor was neat and inviting. Menu had something for everyone and we were pleasantly surprised by a fixed price lunch menu that cut the total bill by a third. Great local spot would recommend and come again, and again. Steak was perfect, salmon cooked but tender, mussels and bread a treat!
Beautiful day for outdoor dining! Great food and service
Beef Wellington is the special each Sunday. Unfortunately, they were out of the special by 7 PM. I had the mussels which were a bit gritty. Suggest you soak them a bit longer.
We had a lovely time and a delicious dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. I have been there before and have always enjoyed the ambiance and the food. This time was no different. We both decided on (different flavors of) steak frites, and dessert was to die for! Always a fun trip.
My wife & I are vegetarians. It would be nice to see more vegetable options on the menu.
Started off having a very good time until we realized my wife ordered a meal that was basically raw hamburger (our misunderstanding but not clarified by our waiter). The crew jumped right on this issue and offered a salad while she waited for the replacement dish (salmon) to come out. Our waiter seemed disconnected but the other crew members were energetic and interested. In the end my bill had all items charged. Not that that was a problem but we weren't even offered a "dogie bag" for the hamburger meat. Any other restaurant I have ever eaten at would not have add everything to my bill. I believe this to be caused by our disassociated waiter. He just didn't seem to care.
It's definitely one of our favorite places in Reston. We ate outside - delightful.
We went to Mon Ami Gabi to celebrate my friends birthday. We had a later reservations and we were one of the last tables to leave the restaurant. At the table the waiter went over the specials and even went as far as showing us a picture of the halibut special. When the dish arrived to the table it was clearly not the same dish he showed us in the picture and it looked more like trout than halibut. It was a wonderful example of bait and switch and it cost $40. Completely disappointed.
I am updating my post to reflect the great customer service at Mon Ami Gabi. I appreciate the manager, Willie Neil ,reaching out to me and understanding how to make a bad situation better. Thank you again. Mistakes happen; it’s all about how they are handled. Class act manager!
The vegetarian pasta entree in Bethesda location is better than Reston location. The green peas was mashed in the sauce, unlike the Reston location. It was mushy and unpleasant.
Great service. Fish sandwich ok. Portion size on the small side.
Sat outside on a beautiful evening. Waiter was attentive and food was excellent.
While on several occasions before I liked the place this time I was disappointed, as the quality of the food was a little lower than before. They used to serve a fresh warm and crunchy baguette, but this time we got something like a stale chewy brand that you usually find in retail stores. The steak au poivre has been cooked on some questionable oil. It did not have a good taste. Arugula salad was voluminous but it did not look like well prepared, again it looked like something just brought from a store and thrown on a plate, I do not recall the seasoning. For several hours after that meal I felt discomfort in my stomach.
My relatives were in town.
Another delicious meal outside on a lovely night! The service was great too!
Mon Ami Gabi is a very friendly, customer oriented restaurant priced a bit above average but certainly not over priced for the food. Our NY strip steak was done to perfection and was a very good and tasty cut of meat. It comes with very good steak frites. We shared an onion soup as an appetizer -- sweet and flavorful and a single onion soup shared for two was more than adequate. Nice wine list with french wines by the glass. Quiet enough to be able to talk. And Reston Town Center is very pedestrian friendly. Lots of sidewalks, not much traffic on the streets and ample parking both on the street and in several close-by parking structures. Although the signs are not as clear as they should be, there is no charge for parking on weekends, holidays and in the evening. An enjoyable evening.
My husband and I love brunch at Mon Ami Gabi! The food and the service are always really good!
We had breakfast. Everything was delicious.... quiche and arugula salad was perfect. Our waiter was very helpful ... he did a good job balancing taking care of us but not interruptive. 10 am was great time for brunch...quiet and still cool. One of our favorite spots!
Very nice experience except they changed the baguette. My wife and I much prefer the previous supply.
It was good
Once again a relaxing delicious meal in delightful surroundings. Great service and personal attention of Manager, W. make the dining experience special and feels like friends.
Had a great time as always. Food was really good. Service felt a bit disjointed but nothing major.
Very good lunch at great value. Also, excellent french bread!!
Excellent service and great food. Terrific spot for lunch or dinner
The Reston Towne Center location of this national chain never disappoints. The food is consistently tasty and well presented. If there is any sort of problem with a food delay, the way it's cooked or just anything the management is quickly on top of the problem assuring that each patron is happy.
Food was fine. Waiter was not fine at all. He either was drunk (smelled like it) or not capable of doing his job. Was forgetting us, our food and drinks.
I have bee to this restaurant before. It is a very good restaurant, but this time was a bit disappointed.
The menu listed Duck Confit and Brussels Sprouts. I ordered it as I really wanted Brussels Sprouts and said so to our waiter. He brought out squash instead. When I pointed the error out to the waiter and manager, they said I must have had an old menu because they don’t pair Brussels sprouts with the Duck anymore. They made no effort to apologize or make amends.
Frustrating experience at Mon Ami Reston. Our server was "friendly" but slow and far too intrusive. I'm not there to build a relationship with a waiter. Then our food order was wrong. And in waiting for the other dish to be corrected ( cold salmon plate) my eggs got cold. No compensation. Finally, it took us forever to pay the bill. Waiter kept saying he would be back to take our cards - which were sitting on the table for at least 10 mins. Very frustrating experience.
The food and drinks were good and I would go back for my next special day.
The food at Mon Ami has been a great value. Service has been fantastic. We eat there at least 2-4 times a month.
it was VERY slow. we waited more than one hour for our food
Great food, excellent ambient and value.
Good food. Expensive. People letting their children run around the restaurant boggles my mind. Luckily, the family left halfway through our meal so we could then enjoy ourselves.
