Good food and very friendly service quiet atmosphere
Excellent service and value. High quality food and a good selection for vegans too. Service very professional.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and helpful...but the noise level was problematic. Exuberant children, loud adults, all talking louder and louder as those around them chatted louder and louder. I was not able to have a conversation with my companion. The food though, was really good and so the next time I am in the area, I'll try again.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. The food was delicious from the fried pickled onion appetizer to the brown butter cake dessert. Our waitress Abbey was so attentive and we couldn’t have asked for a better night. The live music was a nice touch as well
The room was great and wait staff very friendly. We love the $10 burger nights. Our lamb burgers were over cooked, though and we did have a long wait. But we will definitely return.
We stopped in for a quick meal and were not disappointed by the food. The fried artichokes were amazing, and we don't usually care for fried food. And the popcorn was a wonderful surprise treat, simply delicious! We also had the very yummy deviled eggs. And the cauliflower flatbread was also quite tasty. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list had nice offerings. And there was live music, not particularly our taste in music, but it added some decent background noise. The only caveat is that the decor and lighting is bizarre (and I'm being kind here) for what could otherwise be a very nice dining experience. I should also add that there is no sign for this restaurant which is also a big miss.
We went to Morgan's on burger night (Thursday). They use brisket and short rib as the burger meat, which is great, and the whole burger with all toppings and also thin French fries or house salad is $10. I expected a great burger and I got one, cooked medium rare as I'd ordered it. The fries were good and the bun was fresh. My husband had a lentil "Sloppy Joe," which he liked as well. My dessert, chocolate lava cake, was tasty but not well presented (it was falling apart); my friend's pistachio bundt cake was very good. Service was friendly, but a bit spotty. I assume this was because THE RESTAURANT IS UNDER RENOVATION AND WE WERE IN A SUBSTITUTE ROOM. I recommend Morgan's for burger night; we're planning to try taco night, too.
Disappointing. The outdated decor is one thing, but the slow (albeit friendly) service and a less-than-great food experience dropped this to a 3-star review. The new team is certainly trying, but my shrimp dish was way too spicy. Wine pours ($9) were miserly.
Good part: great combo plays during dinner.
THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT ACCEPTING OPEN TABLE'S RESERVATIONS ANYMORE! I had to wait 30 minutes for a table (It was crowded - sunday afternoon). They've told me that they don't work with open table anymore. No reservation under 6 people.
No sign for the restaurant is provided at the location. There is no indication on Open Table that it is located inside what I would call a business hotel, the Interlaken Inn. There was no evidence of farm-to-table food preparation as advertised. The lobster roll was mediocre, the grilled shrimp much better. Lemon cake dessert was unexceptional. Service was ok. Loud conversation was provided from the integrated bar and a very loud man at a business dinner in a room with very poor acoustics. The entire experience was sub-optimal.
We were extremely impressed with everything about Morgan’s. From the drinks to the food and to the amazing waitstaff. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you for making our first time at your restaurant a memorable great experience.
Morgan's has a nice menu with many appealing items. We dined for Sunday lunch and were practically the only people in the restaurant. Despite that, we waited quite a while for our meals (no fault to the server who was hard-working and attentive). When the meals started to arrive, there was a 5-minute lag between the first and last meals being delivered (we were a party of 6).
We made reservations for Monday at 8
When we got there it was closed. New summer hours
Hope they update
We have eaten here before and loved it.
This restaurant does not honor reservations made through Opentable. You must call.
This is a great millennial spot. We were told it would take 20 minutes for a party of 2 and ended up waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes or so. When I complained they brought us a mimosa, but I'd rather have my hour back. The food is good value.
I have enjoyed several very good and expertly prepared meals at Morgans over the years. Unfortunately, last Saturday evening was not one of them. I ordered the chef's special 1 1/2 lb lobster for $42. What a mistake. What I got was a plate of pureyed vegetables topped with two miniature claw sections (out of shell) and two small body sections, each about the size of what you would expect to get in an order of lobster Cantonese at the local Chinese kitchen. This was not a 1 1/2 lb lobster. What was on the plate was parts from a chicken lobster (under a 1lb) that would go into a not to filled lobster roll sandwich. I complained and the chef sent out another mini-claw piece and two small lobster chunks that were boiled and tough. My wife ordered a chicken dish that was very pedestrian. In fairness to Morgans there was a wedding going on at the Inn so the kitchen may have been running short, and they did attempt to make it up by comping two after-dinner aperitifs. But be warned, DON'T EVER ORDER THE CHEF'S LOBSTER SPECIAL and think twice if there is a big event going on in the Hotel.
Please note that as I have said I have had many very good meals at Morgans (both brunch and dinner) and will no doubt visit again next season. But I was so surprised and disappointed that I felt the need to warn others.
The service was amazing and the food was delicious! Wonderful time was had by all.
Difficult to find if don't know that it is in the Interlaken Inn. There is no signage on outside at all. Although waitress was friendly she was very inexperienced. We waited an unusually long time for appetizer. Dishes were not cleared from table from appetizers spring rolls and scallops were bland. Burger was very good. Dessert never offered. We had to get up to ask for and pay check. All this with only 3 parties being served.
jazz on saturday nights, perfect location to enjoy music, you send your kids to the game room
Good food and drinks, decor and especially the lighting does not match the quality of the food - wall to wall hotel style carpeting and relatively harsh downlights impact the total effect.
Your options are very limited in this area of CT. The staff of Morgans were excellent, very attentive and customer service oriented. The food was OK. I had the chicken which was very small and had little taste. However the appetizer (Caprese) as well as some of the other entrees my party had were excellent.
The menu provided in the Inn room was not the same as the quite-limited menu in the restaurant. Had I known that, I most likely would have dined elsewhere.
Caprese salad was excellent with fried green tomatoes. Swordfish and greens very good. My companions chicken was " too lemony".
We had local chicken for dinner and it was good. Service people were very friendly. Atmosphere was nice and people were
Cocktails were average. No blue cheese olives for a Martin
Basically nice setting with good food. Evening construction at the entrance. Piano too loud and monotonous. Service very friendly and accommodating . Price moderate!
Solid food; very attentive staff.
Morgans was frankly a disappointment in an area that is well populated with good restaurants. We were ready for the 1980s decor but were hoping that the food would make up for it. Unfortunately it didn't measure up to our expectations. The sautéed zucchini and summer squash layered on top of my roasted trout were chilly instead of being piping hot. I probably would have been safer to order the cheeseburger, which the rest of our party had.
In an unlikely environment lies a most creative restaurant! Set in an inn that is not very distinguished, but with very welcoming staff, the dining room seems to be an odd opening up of several former rooms that create a rather odd space. However, once the menu arrives you know you're in a special place. The food was truly outstanding, especially the duckling....the very best I've ever eaten. Service is slowly paced, but that assured us that the chef was taking the time to oversee all the orders.
We had the Pekin Duck Breast with pickled rhubarb, farrow with ramps and a red wine caramel reduction and the Pappardelle with spring asparagus, sweet peas, ramps and herbed lemon ricotta. Dessert which we shared was a made-to-order cherry clafoutis.
My husband and I enjoyed our meal enormously and will certainly return. The waiter was also extremely helpful, courteous and welcoming.
Nice to have this addition to the Litchfield Hills!
We tried this restaurant and were very hopeful that their locally-focused menu would translate into an excellent meal. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Out of the five diners, four were very disappointed with the taste of the food. In particular, the fish….which was a very expensive $29….was fresh enough but had no flavor. Even the "deep winter vegetables" were somehow tasteless. The one standout winner though was the beef. The appetizers were also mixed, with two of the three appetizers being bland and one being so spicy that it was impossible to eat. The end of the meal proved to be better with thumbs up for both items tried.
Overall, a big disappointment. It is a nice space and quiet. One of the few restaurants in the area that are open on Monday night. But it was too expensive and too flavorless to try again anytime soon.
We were staying at this property and chose Morgan's out of convenience. The food is very good and the service friendly, but the dining room is really awful.
We were guests at the Interlaken Inn and after debating the propsect of having dinner "off campus" we decided to try the hotel restaurant "Morgan's". What a great decision. The food was excellent and very fresh. The salad and soup were delicious and nicely presented. The entrees flavorful and well proportioned. The salmon was perfectly prepared. The special pasta was excellent as well. The service was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Our server, William, demonstrated a great instinct for the right balance between providing attentive service and leaving us alone at the table.
