Motor Supply Company Bistro
Everything was superb!
Delicious food. The eggplant was a good vegetarian option! Peanut butter pie was recommended & didn’t disappoint.
Very good service and amazing food. From artisanal cheese board to the duck, the steak, the pork chops. And OMG the Panna cotta, ans the chocolate bar.
Please give it a try, I don't you'll be disappointed
The atmosphere, food, and service were wonderful, as usual!
Very nice setting, alittle difficult to find but was well worth the trip. Food was fantastic and staff was very helpful and personal. Would recommend and we will be back!!
Have had good meals here before but pretty underwhelming on our last visit. Had out of town visitors and was almost embarrassed on the level of service and food quality. Only 2 of us had salads and those arrived before our drink orders. Pretty wilted from sitting under a heat lamp. Many of party had the steaks and one a little too rare. That happens and it was taken back but after 10 minutes I had to look for our waitress to check on the progress. Service was pretty poor for a bill over 450 dollars. Automatic gratuity was applied but not definitely worth it
One of my favorites places to visit when I’m in Columbia. The fall menu is interesting and inviting but my entree fell a little short. I had the bone in pork chop but felt it was a small portion and a bit over cooked. Pretty average. Service was great as usual. Will give them another chance soon.
Food, service & drinks were outstanding. Not gonna lie, it's pretty pricey, but it's delicious!
College son and roommate Parents dinner
First off - love the lighting in this place. It’s just right! The butternut squash soup was the best version I’ve ever had. We were super impressed!!
Best restaurant in South Carolina hands down.
Josh at the bar is the best in town, hands down. Great service and food as always. My go to in Columbia for sure.
Good but must have been a change in mgmt or chef recently. No longer offering their delicious pesto and bread, also some of the side dishes and desserts weren’t as good as in the past
Another wonderful meal at Motor Suppply! The service was great and the food was delicious.
The food was great, I had steak , mashed potatoes and broccoli all delicious . Service was quick and friendly . We will return
Our party had a wonderful on the patio! Great service too
Very good food as always
It was a blind date. The food was great as was the ambiance. At times it was a little loud but we could understand each other. The grouper, cauliflower steak, artisan cheese board, Moscow mule, lemon basil cheesecake was all exceptional. It won’t be a night I’ll soon forget
Excellent food and service. Atmosphere was great!
Excellent service and excellent food. Always great.
Motor supply exceeded our expectations! The food was lovely, the experience with the waiter perfect! We will definitely be making another visit!
Wonderful restaurant with impeccable service! The wait staff went above and beyond and we had a amazing experience. Will be back! Highly recommend dessert and tea!
We had a delicious meal with fantastic service. Great atmosphere with beautiful art on the walls. A wonderful experience.
Apps good but main course disappointing. Husband ordered 12 oz strip loin which was barely able to be cut even with a serrated knife. Replaced by a pork chop which unfortunately was undercooked and fatty and had more bone than meat. A terribly disappointing night. We had heard good things about the restaurant but came away disappointed and won’t go back again.
From the pork belly appetizer to the Pink Snapper and NY Strip entrees, the meal was outstanding. Motor Supply is a great dining experience.
The meal was incredible! Our waiter, Michael, was very tentative and professional. We loved everything about Motor Supply Bistro.
Always a great meal. I don’t always recognize menu items, but the the Chef. Always outstanding.
Army basic training graduation
Stephanie does an amazing job! Her knowledge of the menu and drinks is extraordinary. We dined there two nights in a row. Still one of the best restaurants in Columbia.
We recently ate there and the food was very bland. Typically I dont feel compelled to speak up about a disappointing meal, but for what we were expected to pay it seemed worth it to share our less thank satisfactory experience. We had heard great things about Motor Supply Co. And were excited to experience it for ourselves. Unfortunately, the food seemed drastically under seasoned. The issue wasnt that is was under salted, it had absolutely no seasoning of any flavor. I had a salad with select oysters which was okay. I was very hungry this day and was willing to eat about anything. But as I was trying to enjoy my salad I kept thinking about how underwhelming it was. The dressing made the romaine wet but had no flavor. The oysters had no flavor other then light oil. The bacon bits were good but other than those it was nothing to write home about. My girlfriend's meal was also lack luster. It had elements to it that were great but the proportion for those was minuscule. I also had the mushroom truffle soup which was excellent and we really enjoyed the desserts. The service was very understandable and was dedicated to ensuring we leave with some positive experience. The positives were the soup, the service, and the commitment to customer satisfaction. Yet, the food was not worth a third of what it cost on the menu. I am grateful that they took the time to speak to us and look into their reviews online, because that shows they care about their business, but in the end I don't think I will go back.
A fresh menu every day with something for everyone.
The food was excellent, as always. The reason for the slightly lower rating is that we had to wait close to an hour for our food. That in itself was ok, but we should have been given some bread and butter (or equivalent) to munch on in the mean time. Our check for 4 people was around $250, so I think a little bread could have been included. The other problem was that our server was constantly checking on the tables around us, but only came to us once. I had to call out rather loudly to get her attention, since waving my arms in the air didn't seem to do the trick.
We arrived a bit early and were seated immediately. Cocktails came out quickly and were done well. Mushroom-truffle soup was perfectly balanced, so yummy we wanted to lick the bowl! Entrees took some time but myS.C swordfish was delicious as was my friends duck . I love that the menu is locally sourced. We would definitely recommend and return!!
Always great. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal or cocktail in Columbia.
Unique combinations of food. Farm to table fresh. Wonderful dinner
Service and lunch was excellent! Citrus salad with salmon - perfect! The shrimp and grits were superb! Met a good friend and was able to converse comfortably. Will definitely return!!
Service staff tries hard. Bar staff is on par, kitchen is out of its league, and management falls very short.
Made a reservation a month ahead of time for a romantic wife birthday dinner
Talk to the owner the day before to confirm some of the details because I had not heard back from them.
Ended up with a table set up in a hurry in the loudest spot of the restaurant when it could have been a quiet and more isolated table in the sweet little covered veranda/patio room.
Pre-ordered a nice bottle of wine hoping it’d buy some credibility for the peace I was looking for but to no avail.
The food is average. I let the Chef select both my appetizer and main course as I often do to avoid ordering the same thing. Scallops appetizers were good, the beans over seasoned. I was served the pork chop for main course, which was quality but overcooked although still moist.
The desert was crème brûlées in which they forgot the vanilla and half the sugar. But that might not be fair from someone who has one of the best crème brûlée recipe in the country. I'll give hem my recipe if they want it, so at least they can fix that.
Staff and management was very friendly and kind. No attitude whatsoever, genuine hospitality, just lacks finesse and skills.
It’s possible I expected too much. My expectation was based on that they were rated # 5 out of 260+ restaurants.
I think they can meet higher standard with better management and training. Looked like no-one was in charge but those who were there tried hard.
Arrived at 7:40 for a 7:45 reservation. Main course was delivered at 9:05.
I was fortunate to bring two "first timers" to Motor Supply to celebrate Boss's Day. They were absolutely blown away. I requested my favorite waitress, Stephanie, and she was cheerful, professional, and informative to my guests. We all had the oyster salad and the redfish entree. I think the redfish was the best fish I've ever had a MSC and I hope it becomes a staple on the menu. The sausage and okra sauce gave it just enough spice without overwhelming the fish. Magnificent!!! One guest had her first creme brûlée and I think she practically licked the dish. Thanks Stephanie and MSC for always coming through for an excellent meal and dining experience. I consider myself a "regular" and absolutely can't wait to come back!
Motor Supply Co is our go-to place when we pass through Columbia, SC. This was our fourth visit and as each previous visit it was excellent. Their menu changes daily and is very interesting. I started with a roasted vegetable salad that was warm and tasty. My husband chose the potato leek soup which he enjoyed immensely. We both had the crispy duck entree served with farro and carrots. I probably would not have picked farro if it had been a menu which has you choose sides. But it was delicious with the duck. They have an extensive and interesting wine list. Our waiter was very formal at first until he learned that he could joke with us. He took good care of us. All wait staff pitch in to be sure that meals are delivered from the kitchen the minute they are ready. I always appreciate this type of service. I would highly recommend Motor Supply Co Bistro.
