Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant
We tried the salmon, burger and steak salad and were all very pleased with our meals. We will definitely go back!
love the restaurant...stay about from the beef dishes. Everything else was excellent
Our office has been wanting to have lunch at Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant. We finally did and enjoy the service, food and atmosphere so much. We are looking forward to having lunch there again.
I’d like to see Creme’ Brûlée on the menu.
I’d dine more often if it was an offering.
The service, the food, the setting, and the value were all very good.
Excellent food, gracious service, beautifully decorated for the holidays!
Our food was excellent! We had a variety of soups, salad, fish and meat dishes. The service was slow and we were seated right next to the entrance door. Thankfully I had a scarf with me to shield myself from the draft.
This restaurant is fantastic. Relaxing and enjoyable experience for all ages, and those who have a desire for dinning at it's best.
Overall a lovely experience. We dined at the Inn on a very busy night so service was OK. Our waiter was responsive but you could tell he was rushed. Two of us had the duck which was good and my daughter had the filet mignon which she said was very good. The dining room was decorated for the holidays which added to the festive mood.
The Mt Vernon Inn is something to be experienced during the holidays. The ambience is beautiful and the food , wine and service is top notch. We will make this a tradition.
My mom and I visited for our holiday brunch and had a lovely time—the staff were amazing, accommodating, and we really enjoyed our visit. Oh, and the food was great, too! Happy Holidays!
Annual Christmas dinner with my folks. Probably the best meal we’ve had there, and we’ve been coming every year for many years!
Beautiful restaurant in front of Mt. Vernon. Great waitress. If you love history you will love this place.
Wonderful service and the food was outstanding.
The food was great however, the ambiance was awful. My daughter, husband and I am were placed in the bar/tavern area which was loud and quite obnoxious. We could barely hear each other over the loud yelling.
Nice atmosphere, good food, good wine list. Decorated nicely for Christmas, with extensive gift selections.
Glenna was very helpful with making selections for appetizers.
The “Inn” was nicely decorated in the 18th Century Holiday tradition.
While the ambiance is wonderful and the setting sublime, the food leaves a lot to be desired. We
had a meatloaf that was a giant meatball, which was hard as a brick with spinach inside. (Not a great
pairing). It was served with an extremely generous helping of mashed potatoes, with no gravy. When
I say generous I mean half the plate was covered with mashed potatoes. My husband had the jambalaya
which was a plate of overcooked rice in a pick sauce, which was almost soupy. He said the only thing
good about it was the shrimp placed on top. The prices weren't terrible, but the food was. They would
do better to have a plain grilled chicken breast with a light gravy or sauce and some white rice and green
beans. There was no chicken on the menu as I recall. Even a barbecued Chicken would have been good.
Ribs are not too hard to make and not easy to mess up. I was there last year and their Turkey Pot Pie
was not good either. All the vegetables were raw and the pie was on the dry side. Perhaps they need a
new Chef. Or maybe the manger should taste the food himself before putting it on the menu. Come on
guys, what does it take to make the food palatable? Just taste it yourselves and see if you would want
to pay for it. Or better yet, would you want to order it again. ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, its FOOD.
fabulous we are from wisconsin and we will be back, perfect.
What a wonderful place to sit by the fire, and enjoy a fantastic cuisine of fairly priced, well portioned, extremely well prepared comfort food. For my wife and I, it was a wonderful cap to a busy week that we followed with the Mount Vernon by Candlelight your. The ambiance was wonderful and the service very attentive but well short of annoying...perfect! The bar area was a bit noisy, but restaurant staff was very accommodating by reseating us in an adjacent room near a beautiful fire. We’ll be back!
Such great history! The menu has selections from the colonial era and current era. The service was very good, the prices reasonable and ambiance was very enjoyable. We had a great dinner experience. Thank you.
Wait staff was attentive without being bothersome. We got word our main course was slightly delayed because the chef didn't think the first outcome was what he wanted. It was worth waiting for.
Great neighborhood venue for an evening out. Food was good and service excellent. Noise level was excessive and made it extremely difficult to hold a dinner conversation.
Food selection was poor. Colonial food? There were things in there that were not very colonial
Plus not the basics. No Cornish game hens? No spoon bread? Really? Not very cool
Our server was long faced and bitter, until we asked her where she was from. It’s not our job to make them happy. Other staff was strong
Everything was great except we were seated in the bar area. Been going there for 20 years now to celebrate my anniversary. Next time I will request one of the many other areas to eat there. This was our first time seated in the bar area, and a lot of the charm was lost.
Food portions over generous-almost too much to eat so prepare to bag some home. Crusted chicken prepared very well and hamburger was juicy. Corn bread very tasty and way too much for one person to eat. No room for dessert after the meal.
We had a great experience, though the original food we ordered was not available so the waitress had to come back to us and ask us to choose something different. Menu a little over priced due to location, but the food we did get was excellent.
We love this place. As usual the service was excellent and the meal was fantastic. The waitress was attentive and had a great personality.
A nice way to finish visit to Mt Vernon. Quaint, and delicious food with attentive service. LOVED the cornbread, Turkey pot pie. Wife love the Brussels sprouts.
we were celebrating my bday. I was running late and i asked my friends to order the fried chicken I had it before at dinner service. They read the menu I asked for the fried chicken sandwich but I wanted a bread and breaded. they ordered this to the waitress that was lousy. When I arrived I ordered the butter nut squash soup. Well they brought the lunch and soup all together 1st mistake. 2nd Mistake the soup was tasteless.. horrible.. when I saw my sandwich it was not a bread it was a chicken cutlet. and it was not breaded it was fried. I returned it and I asked the waitress who seem to be new african lady and I told her I want a breast breaded and fried that is what a fried chicken is? she took it back and the cook just re fried in oil. it was hard as a sole and terrible. We told the waitress our disappointment she never offered to bring a manager or help.
I am not going to support this restaurant again.. I have family coming over and planned to offer that place.
Is too expensive, they don't understand the orders, managers don't come to assist customer and the food and service was bad.
The food was wonderful and the ambiance was nice. A little busy where we were seated by the to go pickup table.
The service was fairly slow, much slower than usual when we dine here. Also, the food was not as good as previous visits. The Turkey pot pie was almost like eating soup, instead of the thick, creamy texture one would expect, and is usually the way it comes out. The soups were a little cold as well. But the skillet cornbread was amazing!!
Our food was delicious! Service was excellent. Our server, Fiona, was a delight! Charming atmosphere. Only complaint was too much food!
Great atmosphere (even had a person in a Colonial costume playing music at one point). Menu had lots of great options, but a little pricey (which is fair, given the location). Food tasted great. My only minor complaint was that the soups and main meals were served lukewarm instead of hot, so everything got cool very quickly.
Every visit to the Mt Vernon Inn is a delight. We often bring out of town guests after touring George Washington’s estate. The ambiance takes you to the past and you feel relaxed almost immediately. There are several rooms, each with a different feel. This visit was just my husband and me and it was dinner before attending a lecture at the relatively new library on the grounds. We started with the Fried Green tomatoes, topped with Mozzarella. I ordered the blackened fish of the day with a chimichurri sauce. It was tasty, but cooked just a bit too long. My husband ordered Duck a l’orange and reported it was delicious. The menu is seasonal and we’ll return soon.
We ordered the fried green tomatoes and they came out Luke-warm. We should have returned, but didn't.
My friend had the roasted chicken. Both of us have had that before and the quality of the chicken was poor. Having eaten here many times, it appeared the kitchen was overwhelmed and the food preparation not as good as usual.
Hoping the next visit will be better😊
Good for families & retirees. My Salmon BLT sandwich was outstanding
I would definitely come back. Great menu selection. Shrimp and Grits were delicious.
We arrived 15-20 min early and the lady managing seating of the guest was very rude when we checked in. We were seated in an area that made me feel like we were moved from the dining room to the kitchen with the children (we were dressed very nice). You could see in the other dining area was displayed nicely with table cloths and a well trained waiting staff. Our seating environment table was baron and displayed like a pizza joint. With my wife and I getting ready to spend well over $100 on a meal with appetizers and wine for two we felt it was more like a hamburger restaurant environment at our table. Our waiter could hardly speak English and was very difficult to understand. I see no reason to pass up other restaurants to dine here. A very disappointing evening.
We were hot and tired after a very full and very enjoyable day at Mount Vernon. We were taken 15 minutes early into a very cool, inviting, period small dining area. The service, food, and value were very good. The unsweetened iced tea was excellent! This was the second time dining at the inn and there will definitely be a third!
