Nobu San Diego
Amazing staff was the best and waiters were amazing
We had high hopes for our dinner, but were pretty disappointed. The noise level was excessive and a nearby table had an extremely obnoxious patron who was using foul language (almost screaming at times). You could see other tables looking over uncomfortably at this idiot. He should have been removed.
We appreciate the waiter providing details, but we did not need a five minute (no joking) explanation of the menu. We are reasonably smart people.
Afraid to say, we will NEVER return and would discourage others.
I have been in this restaurant many times in the past, This is the first time I write a review, The Only thing to say is that it was much better before, Looks like they are losing attention, we paid 350 for a 2 people dinner, when you pay that you will normally expect a superb service.
very tasty fish, very light portions for the cost.
Excellent service by entire staff!!! Shout out to Ian!!
The food was incredible ❤️
Amazing food and friendly staff.
Truth: we purchased a 7-course set menu voucher from Travelzoo. And to be honest, the food was good, but not overwhelmingly so, and not worth the menu prices. Glad we used a voucher, because the value didn't seem to be there. First of all, it's one of the restaurants in the Hard Rock Hotel, so while we expected a higher price tag, we had heard buzz about how good the food was. The restaurant was loud when we first arrived at 8 pm, but died down as the night went on. Service was spotty. I ordered a $15 cocktail which took 30 minutes to come, and we kept being told that our food would come "right after I get your drink." Food and beverages were provided by the bartender and food runner, so I hope they got the tip we left. While the food was good, it wasn't anything particularly extraordinary or authentic, so unsure of why the high price tag. Worth trying if you can get a deal or someone else is paying, but there is better, more affordable Japanese food elsewhere in San Diego.
If you are visiting this Nobu because you have been to other Nobu locations and are looking to recreate the experience, I don't think this would be the place to accomplish that end goal. My friend and I came here for the Omakase menu since we had previously been to the Nobu in Las Vegas and had just the best meal. Here the service was a little disjointed, but friendly, but the food was not up to par at all. We both went with premium omakase menu, which is supposed to feature premium ingredients; with that said, the first course was a vegetable handroll. The fish was fresh, but not nearly as creative or well prepared as we have previously experienced at Nobu. Hands down the best course was the seabass which sat in the most flavorful broth, but no other courses stood out or would prompt us to return. One of the courses was grilled lobster, which would have been delicious had it not been so overly cooked and rubbery. We also talked to other friends that happened to go to the same Nobu while in town and they also expressed their disappointment in the quality of food with cost of courses taken into account.
The food quality was as great as Nobu has us used to. The service was fine as expected. But the prices keep going up, particularly for beef. It really seems much too much. I guess as long as people are willing to take it there isn’t much one can do!
Service exceptional. All servers are very knowledgable. Ambiance was nice. Food was very good but the price was extremely high for the portion received
On the condition that money is of no importance, Nobu always offers a good meal but the price can be significant and service is hit or miss.
Service was slow.
Food was just ok. We’ve been to the Nobu in NY City and it was much nicer and fancier than this. Disappointed
Outstanding food and service, me an my friends had a really good time. Definitely coming back
Was fantastic! 20 teenage girls in the private room, plus 5 adults in the main restaurant. Beautiful service and amazing food.
Amazing experience and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area! Great for special occasions.
This place is some where you pay for the name and not really quality of the food. The seating was cramped and the food was average and not worth the prices they were charging. Definitely would recommend some other places for Asian inspired cuisine.
Food, as always, was excellent. Service was stellar. Confused by the amount of small children....babies, crating and running around the Restaurant. Very distracting and took away from the experience.
Great spot for a date night! Food was awesome
We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Nobu. Our waiter was excellent, explaining the menu and answering all our questions. Seafood ceviche was wonderful.
We enjoyed every aspect of our time at Nobu San Diego Gaslamp. Miles and Terry, our servers, were attentive to our needs for drinks and the next course. They also gave us great menu suggestions when we asked. The staff was also very attentive after we mentioned a food allergy. We were able to converse as the ambiance was lively but not overly loud. The food was absolutely sublime.
Excellent food and service, however be prepared for a tight crowd and a high noise level. We went for our 30th anniversary and while the food was excellent, it was too boisterous for a relaxing nice meal. The menu is pricey so stick to unique items you can't get anywhere else.
Excellent service. Nice “vibe”. Excellent yellowtail sashimi with jalapeños. Sushi surprisingly average for an establishment with Nobu’s reputation.
Our first time experiencing Nobu and it was excellent. We will definitely be back to a Nobu when we are near one of their locations.
Great experience and ambience. We felt the good was ridiculously over priced.
As a party of two, we were smashed between two other couples, having to move the table to squeeze in. We then twice had to move the table again (during our meal) so the woman next to us could get out to use the restroom. The sashimi was fishy and the lobster salad was very plain. The price is too steep for the quality that is served.
I will never stop coming to this location as a result of the incredible service we received the other night. Our dinner started out a little off when we had only gotten one dish in an hour but after we let our waitress know everything else came out on time. The only other little mishap was one steak dish came out rare instead of medium and they brought a new one out in no time. I did give them the benefit of the doubt since they were crazy busy. They ended up bringing us a platter with every dessert on their menu and took care of our entire bill. Probably the most outstanding customer service I have ever received at Nobu let alone at any restaurant. Thank you to the GM Jessica for a great dinner!
Our son said it was the best meal he’s ever had. We knew it would be; this was our 3rd time eating at Nobu. The server, Shane, gave great advice & perfect service.
One of the best meals I have experienced. Presentation was exquisite and selection by staff of foods were spot on.
Another delicious experience at Nobu! The fresh local uni, served on top of it’s shell is consistently delicious. Prices are not for the faint of heart, but the food is on point.
The food was fantastic!!! Much more loud and much more casual than Nobu Las Vegas. Signature Omakase did not disappoint!!!
I really loved the experience and the food was incredible.
Food was Absolutely delicious! Just a bit too loud for me.
It was a great dinner, they have a good service, our waitress was really kind and helpful, the only thing I would say is that the noise is a lot. The taste of food awesome.
Park in the ACE parking it’s 10 dlls which is affordable in downtown and really close to the restaurant. You have to enter the restaurant using the Hotel entrance.
I came here for Restaurant Week.
Hated the "family style" dining ... We all had to order the SAME THING (except dessert) because it's easier for the restaurant and not the customer.
Very discouraging and disappointing experience. Will never come again.
Very good food, but a little noisy, and it took a while to get drinks and our entree, but the server was great and gave us a free drink for having to wait
We were seated next to a very drunk and rambunctious group that frequently yelled and hollered and screamed and they were never asked to quiet down despite many tables around them being disturbed by the noise levels.
Food was presentable and of reasonably good quality, but seemed far too expensive for what it was. Service on the other hand was not so good. Waiter / waitress seemed to switch shifts partway through the meal and forget about us, and never came to check on us, and was slow to respond to any requests. It took us nearly 2 hours just to eat a meal that consisted of a total of 5 shared dishes between 4 people because service was so slow. They even took over 20 minutes to actually bring us the bill after we requested it.
Good food and outstanding service but expensive.
