The food was great the service was great and the experience was great.
I booked this for my sister and her husbands anniversary dinner. They said it was “Good, but not worth the price”. Stated the Greek salad was delicious but they put seeded olives in it and it was too nice of a place to just “SPIT” the seed out. Lol!! They also said the fish was very bland unless you ate all the sides with it, it needed salt. They mentioned the server walked by them several times without removing dishes, refilling drinks or checking on them. He said for the price, they should not have to look for the server. In short, they told us they will not be back. :(
Very pleasant, food was delicious, well portioned.
So good ! Everything was wonderful.
Great service, cool atmosphere and delicious food!
Amazing food and service! Will definitely go there again!
We had an awesome meal and the service was outstanding. We highly recommend and will be back!
Great service. Great food. Great drinks. Filet was outstanding. Peach and Berry dessert was excellent. Overall great experience. Will definitely would back.
Clever social distancing curtains separating dining tables which made for a more intimate dinner. Started out with cocktails. The Old fashioned was tasty and the Bees Knees (Gin, honey syrup, and lemon) was an excellent way to get our much needed evening out started. Began with oysters on half shell (5 different types to choose from ) and they did not disappoint. Had the Duck Confit pierogi's and fried feta salad for a 2nd course, which were excellent. For the main meal, my husband had the scallops (OMG! Awesome!) which were cooked perfect and the bacon crisp that went with it was delish. I created a veggie plate from their sides that went with the entrees. This did not disappoint. The kale, shroom, and carrot couscous salad was freaking fantastic! The blue cheese au gratin was a bit salty for my taste but my husband gobbled that up, and the haricot verts were bright green and crisp. Wine selection was decent, we ordered a couple of bottles. And I saved the best for last. The Baklava ice cream is a must!!!! The other desserts ordered at the table ( I forgot what else we had) were good, but by far, hands down this dessert was best. Would definitely go again although meal was pricey (wine and oysters can do that). Service was good too. No complaints from this diner!! Be sure to save room for dessert!
The mussels appetizer was absolutely delicious. The sauce was so good. Service was great. Our peach dessert was delicious.
Great, always good.
The service and meal were outstanding! We have eaten there before and have always enjoyed ourselves!
Birthday outing! We love this restaurant and the friendly staff. Service was impeccable, drinks were terrific and the food...oh, the food! It was a memorable and perfect evening, once again. Ocean is a local gem!
Lovely vibe, amazing food, wonderful service.
Dined on patio due to Covid. Patio area is a bit stuffy. Food was good. By the time I got to my whole snapper the onslaught of flies was epic. I quickly scoffed down the snapper while continuously waving flies off with one arm. Had to move dish across the room to reclaim control. Flies were partial to whole snapper. They were nearly a nuisance for other dishes. Service was good. Fly swarm biblical.
Have always loved oceans - haven’t been in a couple of years. The seating and distance for Covid is great. Felt like the menu was a little sparse. Would t been nice to have been able to order different types of fish as whole fish or filet. The only one was snapper. My husband ordered scallops. They were really good but he got 3. The entrees don’t really come with anything but a few veggies. Love the ocean salad. The waitress must’ve been new because she couldn’t answer most of our questions. I know we are in the middle of Covid but I wouldn’t thought oceans wouldn’t have trained ,knowledgeable staff. We had to ask for drink menus. Never got cocktail one. Felt like wine menu was small. The desserts were amazing.
the experience with the food was great but we sat under a ac vent and it leaked water on our table the entire time. With a restaurant with those price points on food I would have liked a better experience with that. It was very loud in there also. The food was great. The wine selection was to many to choose from for a person that does not have a ton of experience with high end wines. We will go back to dine again just maybe with a larger group next time.
Ocean is one of our favorites! Food and service were wonderful as always! So many favorites there. Enjoyed our visit!
I’m picky about seafood since I’m from FL. Been here twice...Food was good. But not great! Service was the same!
The food is pricey but well worth the splurge. I had the duck confit, raw oysters, and the spicy tuna bon bons and all was amazing as usual.
We had our anniversary diner there this past Saturday. Excellent!!! The service was excellent considering the Covid 19 restrictions in place. I had the whole Red Snapper wood grilled, maybe the best piece of fish I have ever eaten.
Fantastic food and service. Will definitely go back.
Great meal. Great service
Outstanding food and service. The green curry bouillabaisse was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Birmingham.
We loved everything, scallops and curry seafood with rice were delicious, oysters well prepared and not overcooked. The curtains that were installed after covid actually add charm and privacy. We are going back next week.
Great food and great service. Loved the steak and grilled lobster tails
The ambiance was nice, very well decorated candlelit dinner. We started out with the sushi and an ocean martini which were both fantastic. There was a limited menu with almost nothing on the app menu available. We ordered scallops and the filet mignon for our entrees and the filet tasted alright but nothing special that you couldn’t get at any other restaurant and was served with a few pieces of asparagus. My wife ordered the scallops and she received 3 scallops on a tiny bed of corn and English peas. The scallop entree was was over $30 for 3 pieces of scallops, it was outrageous. Also, the table next to us was given a list of specials that were not on the menu that we never heard about until we were ready to leave. Overall, the restaurant was nice and the sushi was the best part of the meal. The cost for the quality and quantity was NOT worth it. Very little food with average taste but was ridiculously overpriced.
So good! Will come back!
It was amazing! Food was delicious and the server was wonderful
Excellent fish and the coconut cream cake was a highlight!
Celebrated dual birthdays with two couples and it was fabulous as always. Ocean never disappoints!
Great server and ambience but my whole grilled snapper was very bland
Food at Ocean was delicious. Our group had scallops, filet, peach salad, Greek salad, and a soul roll. Sushi was the best we’ve ever had! Our server, Ryan was great and attentive. Water was constantly replenished as were bar drinks. Food is pricey and the scallops were few (3) for the price. Overall it was a good experience
Excellent as always. Nice job keeping things as clean as possible with this pandemic still raging. Out of the many fine restaurants in Birmingham, Ocean was our choice to celebrate our 36th anniversary; it did not disappoint!
Aaron made us feel welcome and he was so knowledgeable. Robby , as bartender, always friendly and such great drinks. The food was unique, fresh, delicious. We had a lovely evening and look forward to our return.
Great time great food!
Fantastic food and service! I travel all around the world and this place is wonderful!
We had the seafood tower and it was amazing.. the server was really nice and attentive.. but experience took a dive when desert came out.. we ordered the strawberry pound cake.. the pound cake was like the remaining crumbles of pound cake not to mention very small portion, buttermilk ice cream was nothing but vanilla.. very disappointing for an $8 desert, to top it off we paid $64 for 4 tiny flutes of sparkling wine.. they charge you a nice champagne price for sparkling wine..
