Birthday celebration loved the live music birthday recognition and dancing and food
The staff took such great care of our large party that we plan to return again for more fun. Thanks to Old World German Restaurant for a wonderful night out!
The service was great, food came out quick. We ordered the meat lovers platter, it was more than enough for a party of four. I suggest getting that to try all the different meats, and seeing which meats you like. So that way you know for your next time you know what you want to get.
Had a large party for my birthday, and it was my first time. There was hardly anyone there, and we seated ourselves. Our server, Heather, did a fantastic job of taking care of all of us, and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be coming back!
As always Old World Restaurant brings back memories from my childhood. Everything is always fresh, warm and wonderful. Service was very good. Noise level was very loud. Extremely loud in fact. Other than that, we had a wonderful lunch. Thank you Old World Restaurant
As always, the food was great, all that we expect for our craving for Mid European food. It was the Open Table service the let us down, when we got there the hostess had no clue that we had a reservation. She promptly got a couple of tables together for us, it seems that there was a computer blackout, or something, that they did have the reservation there.
The fellow playing the cornet in the main room was too loud for talking between us so we choose a table on the patio. The reduced volume, outside, was just right.
Very good meal and correct lighting outdoors (i.e. soft lighting, no blazing bright lights).
The restaurant did not have my Open Table reservation & said it did not exist even though it was confirmed through Open Table. Luckily they were able to seat us on the patio, although the table they put our party of 9 at was definitely not big enough so three of us sat at a nearby table. Would recommend they work better with Open Table or do not offer Open Table reservations if they are not going to honor them.
We picked this restaurant on a whim, needing a 10 person reservation 2 days in advance....and we’re all fairly agreeable to German food.
Unfortunately the service was incredibly slow - we were seated over 30 minutes before everyone had a drink, the waiter was fairly friendly but didn’t seem to know how to manage a group of 10. The dinner took over 2.5 hours, and not because we were having such a great time and stuck around...the service was that slow.
In fact, a large table seated after us had already received their meals before we were even able to order ours.
There was semi-live music playing in the dining room which was insanely loud. We had to yell at each other to speak, and we were near the back of the room.
All of our potatoes were served cold, including the burnt potato pancakes my father in law received, the mashed potatoes, fries, and German potatoes.
We would definitely have come back if we were there with a smaller party, as it seems to be a great place with a fun ambiance and good food. But tonight was painfully slow.
I don’t think I’ve ever been bothered by an automatic gratuity for large parties, but today was definitely that time. Our server did not earn even half of what he received.
We come here every year during Oktoberfest because there are more food selections on the menu than inside the festival. That said, the sausages are delicious, but everything else is mediocre. The only thing I don’t get is why they don’t have roast chicken on the menu, especially during Oktoberfest. It’s a German tradition during this time. The service is very slow, but the staff is super nice. The beer and wine selection is great and there are plenty of choices on the menu. I had the Jaegerschnitzel and the pork cutlet was very tough, but the sauce they put over it is pretty good. My husbands German stack was good and you’ll never go wrong with the pretzels, fresh out of the oven.
Great food, great service. Ambience and music was wonderful. Always a great time.
Really nice ambiance. Fun atmosphere. Food was really good and a true variety of German recipes. Also have vegitarian. Our waitress was new so it was slow service but the other servers there seemed to do really good with their tables so think it was just a learning curve for ours.
I love Old World. The food is good. It definitely needs some updating of the restaurant and bar.
Old World Restaurant in Huntington Beach doesn’t seem to be connected to OpenTable. They had no idea of our reservation. They were great at accommodating us though.
The food is fine at this restaurant but the real reason to go is for the experience. The olde worlde decor, one man band, and waitstaff in traditional garb make it especially fun. There is a shop attached where you can buy many of the foods to take home, or cook yourself, and there are many other shops in the charming center where it is located. We have not yet gone on a theme night (trivia, board games, sports events) but we plan to. Fun for the whole family!
We went with friends visiting from out of state. They enjoyed it , other than the noise level from the bar patrons. But we had expected that so we were prepared.
We wanted a fun environment and a new experience. This place was perfect.
Fresh, homemade stuffed pretzels - fabulous! The musician, Jim Gilman, was excellent - had an unbelievable repertoire. We had planned to visit over dinner for a couple of hours, but had such a good time that we stayed 3 and a half hours! Amongst the 4 of us, 1 had beer, 1 had wine, 1 had a mixed drink, and I had iced raspberry tea. We split two appetizers and ordered various entrees. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and the wait staff was perfectly attentive.
Good German and Polish food Cheap price POO=Baa band
I relocated from Columbus, Ohio to the OC. I was thrilled to find an authentic German restaurant! Good food. Live music. Nice beer selection.
the food was fantastic and authentic. We ordered the pork shank and it was already plenty of food for two people already. waitress was very friendly. overall an A+
It was exactly what we were looking for. An authentic German restaurant as I met up with friends and we had lived in Germany many years ago
We arrived to find a talented live musician playing German and other favoured tunes for us as we enjoyed our brunch. We all ordered our favourite German dishes, and they were tasty. The beautiful waitress was friendly and efficient, always quick to notice if one of our coffee cups needed a refill. We will be back.
Took great care of us for my boyfriend's birthday. Our kid loved it and loved the accordian player. Great food! Best bratwurst I've ever had at great prices.
Went here with our younger son and his girl friend to celebrate my wife's birthday and my younger son's girl friend's birthday.
Excellent German food. I had rouladen with rotkohl and potato pancakes. My wife had sauerbraten wth the same sides. The rouladen was the best I have had. My wife liked the sauerbraten.
large portions, but we all cleaned our plates and emptied a pitcher of spaten Oktoberfest beer.
There was an accordion player and a singer. They were good. The only downside was they had a recording supplementing their playing.
It was the end of Oktoberfest, which was in an outside area.
Excellent service and the price was reasonable
We went for Octoberfest. Had we gone for dinner rather than lunch, we may have felt differently. The waitresses didn't smile or make us feel welcome. We did enjoy the lively music though.
We lived in Germany and try to eat in as many German restaurants as possible. The OLD WORLD is, by far, the best in SoCal! Great ambiance, service, entertainment, beer and food!
This restaurant was a huge disappointment and did not compare favorably to reviews that were posted online. From the outset everything went from bad to worse. In spite of reservations made on Open Table, nobody was there to greet us when we arrived at the scheduled time. We were seated in a room that was quiet so we could talk, but that made us invisible and the harried waitress was busy in another part of the restaurant with OctoberFest. The food was not even worth all the endless waiting. It came out fairly cold, not well prepared at all in my opinion, and altogether unmemorable in either presentation or flavor. The only other people in our dining room were children doing homework. The chairs were uncomfortable and the atmosphere so-so. Will never return.
Authentic German restaurant and food. Excellent for Octoberfest. It was much noisier than I prefer, but that was mostly due to the German band. The food was very plentiful for the price.
Authentic food. I grew up eating my fathers German dishes. I was taken back to my childhood at this restaurant. Great experience!
Wonderful Father's Day brunch! Great selection of food!
Loved the mimosas and beer too.
We went to the Father's Day brunch. There was a good food selection and the servers were very prompt about refilling drinks and clearing plates. We all had a great time.
The authentic food, charming atmosphere, old-world service, and welcoming attitude is a delight to behold. This is a favourite place to dine, to bring friends and family, to enjoy with large groups, to celebrate! We had a lovely Sunday lunch, dropped in to shop at the bakery and deli next door, and will return again soon. Thank you Old World for being part of our community.
