Osteria da Nino

Never disappointed when we go to Osteria da Nino. The food is great and the staff are friendly. You almost always get a visit from Nino!
I've brought several friends here for dinner but now for lunch. A meatball sub with side salad (or fries) is about $10...very reasonable for dining in a restaurant. My friend and I also splurged on the grilled octopus starter...two large pieces of tentacle (enough for 4 or more bites each) was delicious (I had had it before). Alas, we were too full to try dessert. I will return.
We had a table for 6 prior to a play at the Signature. It was my first time at the restaurant and everyone made me feel like a regular. The food and service were both excellent as we the chef's recommendations. I will return.
We went for dinner prior to attending an event at Signature Theater. We told the waitress when we arrived that we needed to leave no later than 7:15. I had caprese salad which was good. Then I had the lamb ragu which also tasted good but was about a cup of pasta for $18. My friend had raw oysters which she said were good. We ordered dessert which took 20 minutes to arrive and after repeated prompts. When it came, we had less than 5 minutes to gulp it down and pay to get to the theater on time. Considering that we allowed 1 hour and 30 minutes for dinner and warned the waitress on arrival, this is unacceptable. The restaurant reduced the bill by $15, but that didn't even cover the cost of our dessert which we did not enjoy. I would not go again.
Great as always. Nino is amazing. A great spot for before the theater.
Hands down the best Italian food I’ve have in the DC area. I lived in Italy for 3 years, and this restaurant is as authentic as it gets. Highly recommend !
The experience was so authentic and Nino took the time to stop and speak with us twice! Portions were Perfect and the wine pairing was spot on! Lovely setting and felt like family.
I took my bestfriend out to celebrate her birthday. Everything was amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Good food reasonable prices.
Waiter tried to have us select pricier choice.
Absolutely great experience at Osteria da Nino, the restaurant was buys and short staffed so teh owner stepped in and helped take care of us. Albeit busy, service was still fast and efficient. Food was absolutely delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!
Food and service were excellent. If you find yourself in Shirlington definitely give Nino’s a try. You will not be disappointed.
Consistently delicious Southern Italian dishes and always something new on the menu or in the kitchen. Friday nights, even with reservations, there can be a wait (ours was 12 minutes over reservation time) but the food is worth the wait. We go there about once a month and it is always delightful. You may want to try it during the week when it's not so crowded if waiting is an issue for you.
Even though a large number of unexpected patrons showed up, our reservation was honored expeditiously, we were served promptly and the food was, as usual, very good
Not sure if I’m being fair, but our experience was overall negative. We showed up on time for our reservation and noticed several others waiting. No host on duty. After several minutes the other patrons informed us the restaurant was short staffed and Manager was trying to seat people. Noticed several tables looking around for someone to take their orders. Manager finally told us we would have to wait 15-20 mins for a table. We left. Probably just a really bad night Friday and 3 staff called in sick we we told. We’ll try again some other time...maybe.
Had a 6:30 reservation. Took 15 minutes to be seated (without menus) and then didn’t see a waiter for another 20 minutes so we left with never being acknowledged by ANY of the staff. Had a great meal/service next door at Carlyle!
While the food was, as always, excellent, service suffered from the number of customers at the restaurant. The servers were hard-pressed to deal with all of the tables, so things were slower than usual. Fortunately Nino was aware of parties going to Signature Theater and was able to move service along to make certain no one was late for the show!
Delicious food, the service was very quick because they knew we were going to the theater, and they offer a discount to theater patrons! Great first experience and will definitely go back!
Terrific evening!!
Wonderful ambiance and delicious food
80th birthday celebration that went very well
Nothing bad, nothing wow
Service was amazing, our server knew everything and anything about items on the menu. The food was great and the manager was very friendly and welcoming
We always enjoy our dining experiences at Osteria da Nino. I was happy to introduce others to this restaurant. They will be back!
Great time here with family for dinner. Service was great, the wine and food were delicious, would highly recommend.
Very nice restaurant with excellent food. They have a full menu with lots of options. The veal dishes were prepared perfectly and the ravioli was really good too. We had the tiramisu and chocolate soufflé for dessert and they were both outstanding. Maria, out waitress, was friendly and attentive. We had a great evening!
Neighborhood gem in Shirlington. Nino makes you feel at home every visit.
Restaurant inviting but noisy--had to raise my voice to converse with partner. The caulifower soufflé's ordered was very good as was the dessert--canaloni. The main course of chicken was not tender and vegetables tasted like they had been cooked yesterday and reheated.
Running the Marine Corps Marathon and was looking for an affordable Italian dinner to carb up. This place is amazing. I will definitely be coming back next year.
Birthday ! Great eve
I went with some friends for my mom’s birthday. This is one of my favorite places and was as good as always. Great food, great wine, great service. It was a wonderful night!
The waiter need to be properly train on service to customers
The food was awful and overpriced, I should have sent mine back. I ordered chicken piccata thinking it would be a sautéd cutlet. It turned out to be a roasted quarter chicken that was totally overcooked and dry as a bone. I’ve had frozen Lean Cuisine with more flavor. Our appetizer was over seasoned. My date couldn’t get the drink she wanted. But the bill was five star.
We were a party o 5 with 3 birthday celebrations and we enjoyed every bit of it.
Really enjoyed the meal. Service was just right - friendly and attentive but not bothersome. We will visit again.
Food OUTSTANDING! Nino, keep on doing the fabulous job! :)
I have been 5 time in Washington DC as tourist and I always go back to this restaurant.
Loud, but it was a busy Friday night. Service was terrible. Our server barely paid attention to us, was very slow, and was always missing when needed, or busy at a neighboring table chatting up the young ladies. :/ food was average and lacked seasoning. Pasta tasted fresh and homemade. Price point is okay for what it is. Not as excited about this place as I used to be. This was not my first visit, but might be my last.
This is a restaurant that we frequent. It's always comfortable and welcoming.
Service was excellent. Friendly, attentive wait staff. Food was delicious. Fresh and tasty. Nino stopped by to check on us and was very customer-focused. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and service. Nino is a wonderful host. My steak was cooked perfectly and the pastas were al dente and well sauced.
